00:00First of all, I want to ask you something about your character, because you are a young, black, woman.
00:07Three elements very important in this series.
00:11When they set out to write industry, they were like, we don't really need another piece of media about finance,
00:18about the old men who have all the money and the power in finance.
00:22We know what that looks like.
00:23What does it look like when we enter the world from the perspective of the youngest, least powerful people?
00:30And I think it was just sort of a natural progression.
00:34There was also like an expat element, like a person who, like how can we make them the most uncomfortable,
00:42the most separate from this world, making them an American person coming to London?
00:46I think they just wanted someone who had a kind of, who had everything to lose,
00:53who had everything to lose, who didn't want to have to be sent home,
00:56who was going to be made the most uncomfortable, so they had a lot to fight through.
01:02And I think also there was someone in the writer's room who was just like,
01:04why are there no like main black women characters?
01:07And they were like, oh, well, I guess the lead, like Harper, that makes total sense,
01:11that she should be a woman of color from America, because now she has,
01:15she's like totally a fish out of water.
01:17She's got all this drive, all this, this, she's already have all these chips stacked against her,
01:23the, um, the assumption that she'll fail, which is the biggest obstacle,
01:29was the biggest obstacle for me.
