Strong yardings and fierce buyer competition fuelled a price rally at the Charters Towers cattle sale.
Transcript
00:07Prices are on the rise of the Charters Towers cattle sale and the proof was in the pens today.
00:12Numbers have lifted with about 3,853 head yard today and the market is showing some serious
00:20strength. Ben Serki from Emity Station bought in a pen of 120 Drowmaster steers hoping they'd
00:27crack the $4 mark. Before the sale he had high hopes. Ben was very pleased with the final result
00:34with them reaching 432.2 cents per kilo. The quality caught the eyes of a young couple from
00:41Tully who beat out a healthy buyers market to snap up two pens of Ben's steers to fatten up on
00:47grass.
00:48With numbers up and prices climbing today prove that momentum at the Charters Towers is
00:54trying to get stronger. As always you can catch the full report on the North Queensland Register
00:59website or on the back page of Next Thursdays Reggie.
