00:00This is the third film that you make about the franchise of Predators and with these three films you have
00:09the opportunity to renew it. What kind of challenge was this for you?
00:15The idea, funny enough, was for it to be a challenge. I really wanted to find a next movie in
00:27trying to figure out Badlands, trying to find a next movie that was something that we hadn't seen before.
00:34And having the monster, the creature, as the protagonist was this thing that had never been done and not defanging
00:48it in any way and really embracing all of its crazy features meant that it was going to be very
00:53challenging not only to visually realize the Predator creature to be both ferocious,
01:02but also have the emotional subtlety that you would need to garner empathy and rootability from an audience and pulling
01:15that off. And it was incredibly daunting.
01:20But that's the fun. That means that we're in uncharted territory and doing things and creating experiences that we haven't
01:28already had.
