00:00It was a very pleasant surprise to be recognised for something like that.
00:03It's always about teamwork, of course, because we have fellow members, volunteers, staff members,
00:09thousands of people in New South Wales alone doing work for the VINI.
00:13It was great that they recognised my service as president twice during the last 10 years
00:19and that involved creating a lot of companies to build houses and so forth
00:24and generally help people who are struggling.
00:27We will encourage people to come and do it because it's a very worthwhile cause
00:32and you're really helping people who are really down on their luck.
00:36I think it just means a recognition of a lot of voluntary work that I've done
00:41in restoring what is what's called a literal rainforest in Stanmore Park
00:47which was completely destroyed in the 1920s
00:50and I've been gradually restoring over the last 50 years
00:55but more so in the last 20 where I've removed all the weeds and replaced them with local trees.
01:04I'm not the only one who's been doing it, by the way.
01:06There are lots of other people too who have been helping me.
01:08Well firstly the award was amazing, it was very surprising but at the same time a great honour to receive
01:18the award.
01:19The Royal Life Saving Society has been educating people in water safety, resuscitation, rescue techniques,
01:28CPR and first aid for over 130 years now with the ultimate aim I guess so that people can participate
01:38in water activity
01:39or aquatic activity both in, on and near the water so that we can reduce our national drowning toll.
01:46Thank you so much for taking a look at the public health care.
