00:00You're right. First of all, I want to know what you thought when they proposed to you to make a
00:07series from Scurati's book.
00:10I was terrified of it. And I think that's always a really good starting point for any piece of work,
00:19to be scared of the journey.
00:25Fear is a great motivator. I also saw it as an opportunity to educate myself, and that's really important as
00:33well, to learn through everything we do.
00:37And I've always wanted to understand the roots of fascism. And in Britain, Mussolini was a character of sort of
00:49strange, exotic character that no one really understood.
00:53So to try and get to grips with who he was and his relevance in today's political climate, I think.
01:02And then why you let, in this series, Mussolini talk directly to the audience?
01:09The opportunity for Mussolini to speak directly with the audience and try and persuade them to his point of view.
01:21He's throughout the show trying to seduce the audience into coming over onto his side.
