00:00Randall, it is the Knicks versus the Spurs right now. And of course, I feel like the big deal that
00:05the NBA is really celebrating was the media rights deal it got a few years ago. And it's in a
00:10great
00:10position because this is going to be a massive ratings hit given that it involves the U.S.'s
00:15biggest media market, New York. Yeah, absolutely. If you think about last year in particular and
00:21what the conversation was when it was the Indiana Pacers against the Oklahoma City Thunder, a lot
00:26of the conversation was, oh, these are two midsize markets, small markets. They're not going to draw
00:31ratings. And this year, that conversation has been silenced. And you have a superstar in Victor
00:35Wemby Nama, and he's going to be playing in Madison Square Garden, which happens to be the biggest media
00:41market of New York. So it is shaping up to be both a huge business driver and a sexy, appealing
00:47watch
00:48for viewers. And of course, Wemby, you mentioned him. He's French. His success in New York with an
00:54NBA title could help with the NBA expansion efforts. I know the NBA is looking to add more
00:59teams. Would that potentially include teams in Europe? The NBA is in the process of adding a
01:06European league. And so the bids for those teams are still ongoing. They've had a lot of interest,
01:12including bids over a billion dollars. I think this was driven in large part after the 2024 Olympics in
01:19Paris, where there was such incredible competition at the at the Olympic level where you had Team USA
01:25really, really get tested against Serbia and against France. And, you know, in the months following,
01:30we had the announcement of the NBA starting or trying to start a European league. And so I think
01:36they're going to move forward with those plans. I wouldn't be surprised if Paris ends up being a franchise
01:41as well. OK, so another question I have, of course, is MSG Sports, which is the owner of the New
01:47York
01:47Knicks and the New York Rangers, is looking to potentially split those companies up. And there's
01:52always speculation about whether James Dolan, who's the controlling shareholder of MSG Sports,
01:57might look to sell the Knicks. The Knicks are in a prime position if he wanted to, given that the
02:01deeper they go into the postseason, and this is now the second year running of going deep into the
02:05postseason, the more money the Knicks are making for MSG Sports. Yeah, this is the NBA is in the MLB
02:13are very unique in the fact that if a team goes farther in the postseason, then they play more
02:18home games, which means more revenue in the Super Bowl. It's not quite the same because the NFL
02:22controls the venue for the day. And with that in mind, of course, with the Knicks having this run,
02:29it's more money. It brings more value. I think the Knicks are probably worth over 10 billion
02:35dollars. And I think the Rangers would probably be in the range of four, if not more. But I mean,
02:39ultimately, we'll see what this means. Does this mean that James Dolan wants to sell a stake in
02:45either one? It still remains to be seen, but he's doing it for a reason. And that's to see
02:50what the true value is of both entities.
