Two months ago, my grandmother suffered a fall that fractured her tibia, leaving her unable to walk and reliant on a bed and wheelchair. As her grandson, I've been helping with her daily mobility needs—lifting her, transferring her, and assisting her into places that would otherwise be difficult to access, such as a vehicle. The strength I've built through years of training has made those tasks much easier. While I'm a doctor by profession, this experience has given me a more personal perspective on the importance of physical training. It reinforced for me how crucial strength and mobility are—not only for younger people who may one day need to care for aging loved ones, but also for older adults seeking to maintain their independence and reduce the risk of life-altering accidents like falls.
