00:17cementing his position as China's richest person, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

00:23The ByteDance co-founder's fortune swelled more than seven-fold since Bloomberg started tracking his wealth

00:31in March 2019 when he was worth US$13 billion.

00:35The surge comes amid the success of ByteDance's video app TikTok as well as its Doobao AI chatbot,

00:42which has amassed more than 300 million monthly users to become China's most popular.

00:49ByteDance also earlier this year transferred parts of its US business to American investors.

00:56However, Ambani dropped to the third richest in Asia,

01:00the Bloomberg Index showed with a net worth of US$86.9 billion.

01:06Meanwhile, Gao Tamadani retained the region's top spot at US$117.4 billion.
