From mid-June through to mid-August, you'll have the opportunity to clear space for new plantings. Just imagine harvesting early sowings of beetroot, carrots, salad onions, lettuce, peas, broad beans, cabbage, broccoli, and second early potatoes, and then quickly replacing them with new crops. I've found successful succession pairings such as broad beans to broccoli, potatoes to leeks, onions to kale, spinach to cucumber, and early cabbage to French beans.
Don't overlook the benefits of intersowing and interplanting! By utilizing these techniques, you'll make the most of every available space in your garden, maximizing your food production from a smaller area.
This video was filmed at the picturesque Homeacres in Somerset, UK by the talented Edward Dowding in early June 2023, showcasing the real-life application of my proven methods.
