00:00Regarding the estimate of the number of hostages, we have heard a lot of estimates from other sources, including Hamas
00:09on one side, Israel on the other side.
00:12But we cannot guarantee at the moment, we cannot validate any of these numbers.
00:16What we can validate, or at least say with a degree of certainty, is that we have an extra number
00:23of 20 hostages that are ready to be released within this 48 hours.
00:25I cannot testify to any other number at this moment.
00:30However, the four days were used to increase the number of hostages that are identified by Hamas, and therefore we
00:37reached this number of 20.
00:39We are hopeful that in the next 48 hours we will be getting more information from Hamas regarding the rest
00:44of the hostages.
00:45Our main focus right now is, and our hope, is to reach a sustainable truth that would lead to further
00:54negotiations and eventually to an end to this iteration of violence, to this war.
01:00And we have always said that we need the push of the whole international community to make sure that that
01:06happens.
01:06However, we are working with what we have, and what we have right now is a provision to the agreement
01:10that allows us to extend days as long as Hamas is able to guarantee the release of at least 10
01:18hostages from their side.
01:21There have been some minimal breaches, which have been noted by both parties, but they did not harm the essence
01:29of the agreement, and the agreement is still ongoing.
01:32We are monitoring, of course, everything on the ground, however, we don't monitor, we don't have anybody on the ground
01:37in Gaza, and therefore we rely on the reports coming from the ground and coming from both parties,
01:44and our job as mediator is to get that information across and to resolve these issues between the two parties
01:49before they escalate, and we have succeeded in doing that in the past four days, and we hope to continue.
