00:03After winning the Carabao Cup in 2025, which snapped the club's 70-year wait for a domestic
00:08trophy, Newcastle were hungry for more. And for the third time in four seasons, the Magpies were
00:17one of the final four teams left in the same competition they saluted in last year. But
00:22their reign as the Carabao Cup holders ended in a one-sided semi-final against Manchester City,
00:28continuing their horrible record at the Etihad. The 3-1 loss means Newcastle have gone 12 games
00:35without a win in the blue half of Manchester, their worst ever run against a single opponent
00:40on the road. Yeah, it is painful, I think. We obviously loved the ride that we had last year
00:47and lifting the cup and all the moments and memories that that brought. It was an incredible
00:51experience and we were desperate to do it again. Definitely can't fault the players' attitudes
00:56in terms of what they've given. They hadn't scored at City since 2018 until Anthony Alanga
01:02netted a consolation goal in the 5-1 aggregate defeat, having trailed 2-0 after the first
01:08leg. We were craving that first goal, we didn't get it. And when Manchester City gets it, you
01:14know, our task becomes even more difficult. And saying that we had good opportunities to score in
01:20both halves. And I think if you add up all our opportunities in both games against them in this
01:25tie, there's a lot of missed opportunities in front of goal, which ultimately, I think, cost us.
01:32Eddie Howe's side are feeling the pinch after a gruelling run of fixtures, which included
01:37trips to Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City. And looking at their upcoming games,
01:44things aren't going to get much easier.
01:51They travel to Tottenham and Aston Villa before facing City for the fourth time this season. There's
01:58also a long trip to Carabag, followed by tough tests against Manchester United and Chelsea.
02:04We are playing, you know, every three, two, three days. We're finding it difficult in this moment,
02:14having just played Paris, Liverpool and Manchester City away. That's a tough schedule for any team
02:18to face. And we're doing it with the number of injuries that we have. And that they're not
02:21excuses. It's just, that's the reality. Newcastle are experiencing just how hectic a season can be
02:28when you fight on multiple fronts. It's stretched their squads to the absolute limit.
02:34Between late January and March, the Magpies face a relentless run of matches that could define
02:39their season across all competitions. But their reign as the Carabao Cup holders is over
02:46after a semi-final drubbing to Manchester City, continuing their horrible record at the Etihad.
