00:00President Lai Ching-ze has honored the visiting head of the Czech Senate, Miloš Vistrichil.
00:20Lai presented the order of propitious clouds to Vistrichil as a symbol of thanks for his
00:24long-standing commitment to Taiwan's democracy and freedom. He mentioned the Czech speaker's
00:292020 visit and his speech to the legislature in which Vistrichil declared,
00:33I am Taiwanese, words in defiance of pressure from China and disapproval from the Czech government.
00:39Lai pointed to the two countries' strong partnership by their deepening ties in the
00:42semiconductor and AI industries, as well as new direct flight routes. Vistrichil urged the
00:48two countries to work closer together to protect their shared values.
00:53It is our responsibility to enhance national resilience to these trends and continue defending
00:58the values of freedom and democracy. Democratic countries need to support each other and work
01:02together even more. This is also why I am so grateful for this opportunity to visit Taiwan.
01:09Vistrichil's visit will continue through Thursday.
