00:00Alaskan Bush People star Matt Brown has died at the age of 43, after his body was recovered from a
00:06river in Washington state.
00:08Matt's brother Bear Brown confirmed the heartbreaking news in a TikTok video,
00:12saying authorities positively identified a body found in the Okanagan River as his brother.
00:17According to Bear, their younger brother Noah Brown helped pull Matt's body from the water and identified him at the
00:23scene.
00:24Bear said he believes Matt died by suicide, though he noted that the coroner still has to complete an official
00:30examination and report.
00:31The Okanagan County Sheriff's Office said it received a 911 call Wednesday after a person reported seeing a man sitting
00:38in a shallow area of the river.
00:40The caller later heard a sound, turned around and saw the man face down in the water before he drifted
00:45away in the current.
00:47Authorities launched a search and a firearm was later recovered from the area where the man was last seen.
00:52In an emotional Instagram video, Noah confirmed he identified Matt after search groups located his body.
00:59I identified it as Matthew.
01:05My oldest brother, Matthew Brown, has passed away.
01:09Noah said he was present when Matt was pulled from the river and was able to visually identify him.
01:14He also shared a message for fans saying,
01:16I'm sorry it came down to this, before encouraging people to tell their loved ones how they feel while they
01:22still can.
01:22The reality star also reflected on his final interactions with Matt.
01:26Noah told Us Weekly that he saw his brother the day before his death while driving by and exchanged a
01:31wave,
01:32later admitting he wished he had stopped and spent more time with him.
01:35He also recalled running into Matt at a grocery store just a few weeks earlier.
01:40Noah said the last thing he told his brother was,
01:42Love you more, man.
01:43Which he described as a phrase their family often used because,
01:47You never know when the last time you're going to see someone is.
01:50Bear also shared details about his last conversation with Matt,
01:53saying the brothers ran into each other at Walmart not long ago.
01:57According to Bear, Matt told him he had fallen off the wagon after years of struggles with alcohol and drug
02:02addiction.
02:02Bear said he encouraged Matt to seek rehab treatment and insisted that the family had not shunned him,
02:08claiming instead that Matt had chosen to distance himself from relatives in recent years.
02:13Bear also revealed that Matt had been dealing with a difficult breakup and other personal issues.
02:18Concern among fans grew earlier this month after Matt posted an alarming YouTube live stream
02:22in which he appeared nude, spoke incoherently, and carried what appeared to be a firearm.
02:27Matt appeared on Discovery Channel's Alaskan Bush People from 2014 to 2019
02:33alongside his parents, Billy and Amy Brown, and his siblings.
02:37The reality series followed the Brown family as they lived off the grid in the wilderness.
