00:06We're joining with European allies to find and seize
00:09their yachts, their luxury apartments, their private jets.
00:13We're coming for you, your ill-begotten gains.
00:17And tonight, I'm announcing that we will join our allies
00:20in closing off American airspace to all Russian flights,
00:23further isolating Russia,
00:25and adding additional squeeze on their economy.
00:35He has no idea what's coming.
00:37Putin is now isolated from the world more than he has ever been.
00:41Putin's latest attack on Ukraine was premeditated and totally unprovoked.
00:47He rejected repeated efforts at diplomacy.
00:52He thought the West and NATO wouldn't respond.
00:56He thought he could divide us at home in this chamber, in this nation.
01:00He thought he could divide us in Europe as well.
01:03But Putin was wrong.
01:05We are ready.
01:07We are united.
01:08And that's what we did.
01:10But let me be clear.
01:12Our forces are not engaged and will not engage in the conflict with Russian forces in Ukraine.
01:19Our forces are not going to Europe to fight Ukraine,
01:22but to defend our NATO allies in the event that Putin decides to keep moving west.
01:27To all Americans, I'll be honest with you, as I always promised I would be,
01:39And I'm taking robust action to make sure the pain of our sanctions is targeted at Russian economy,
01:45and that we use every tool at our disposal to protect American businesses and consumers.
01:50In the battle between democracy and autocracies, democracies are rising to the moment,
01:55and the world is clearly choosing the side of peace and security.
02:00This is the real test, and it's going to take time.
02:04So let us continue to draw inspiration from the iron will of the Ukrainian people.
