00:00Hi, I'm Matt Hambly, the Style Editor for Men's Health.
00:02Welcome to the Men's Health Beach Body Club.
00:07This is Ian Statman, Commissioning Editor at Men's Health.
00:09My name's Jack, I'm from Men's Health, a junior fitness editor.
00:14That's what I do, I sort of go and try a workout,
00:16so we're always trying to find new things going on.
00:18I wanted to not only look like I was athletic,
00:21but actually be athletic as well.
00:23My job is pretty varied.
00:25I get to go out a lot.
00:26I'm on a lot of press appointments.
00:28I have to do a lot of kind of dinners and events.
00:31I've always been relatively slim
00:32and kind of thought in my head that I would like to bulk up.
00:35I've always been a naturally skinny guy,
00:37so bulking up has been a challenge,
00:39and I blamed it on genetics when it wouldn't happen,
00:41and it turned out that I just wasn't eating enough.
00:46You can train as hard as you want,
00:48but you essentially can't out-train a bad diet.
00:51Dean wasn't consuming very many calories at all when we first met him.
00:54His morning meal was the one I was most shocked at.
00:57He had hardly any carbohydrates, hardly any fats.
01:00Matt came to us with a really great goal in mind,
01:03looking to add some lean muscle mass.
01:05His current diet was not good.
01:07He was on the chocolate, and he was drinking beer.
01:11We were fortunate with Jack,
01:12because he had a fair level of fitness to begin with.
01:16He was young, he was fit, so he was raw material.
01:18He was quite good to start any program.
01:20We started small, and then we gradually increased.
01:23And by the 10 weeks, as a gym-goer,
01:25he was unrecognizable from where he started.
01:28So when working with Dean,
01:30typically our sessions were only an hour long.
01:32We just made sure that we were very strict on our rest periods,
01:35and we want to make sure that you work your muscles for fatigue.
01:41So the plan that I had is very different
01:43from the plan that Jack followed, fitness-wise,
01:46and that's different from the plan that Matt followed.
01:48We've fused the best elements of each of them
01:50to create this really sort of interesting, dynamic program
01:52that changes from week to week.
