00:00In the past two weeks, the number of cases of COVID-19 outside China has increased 13-fold.
00:10And the number of affected countries has tripled.
00:15There are now more than 118,000 cases in 114 countries.
00:22And 4,291 people have lost their lives.
00:32Thousands more are fighting for their lives in hospitals.
00:38In the days and weeks ahead, we expect to see the number of cases, the number of deaths,
00:47and the number of affected countries climb even higher.
00:55WHO has been assessing this outbreak around the clock and we are deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of
01:06spread and severity
01:08and by the alarming levels of inaction.
01:12We have therefore made the assessment that COVID-19 can be characterized as a pandemic.
01:22Pandemic is not a word to use lightly or carelessly.
01:30It's a word that if misuse can cause unreasonable fear
01:36or unjustified acceptance that the fight is over, leading to unnecessary suffering and death.
01:47Describing the situation as a pandemic does not change WHO's assessment of the threat posed by the virus.
01:57It doesn't change what WHO is doing.
02:01And it doesn't change what countries should do.
02:05A blank price shows us against people.
02:05make it reasonable.
02:05Thanks again for you to see the next part.
