00:01The United States signaled it was not afraid to resume the war with Iran as no
00:06deal was signed despite President Donald Trump claiming he was on the verge of
00:09reaching an agreement. Trump said he was looking to make his final decision on
00:14the deal to extend the ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The US
00:18president held a meeting in the White House Situation Room with advisors on
00:22Friday but it had concluded without a decision. Meanwhile US Defense Secretary
00:28Pete Hegseth said Washington could restart the war if it wanted to.
00:32Our ability to recommence if necessary is we're more than capable. Our stockpiles are
00:37more than suited for that both there and around the globe because of how we balance
00:42exquisite and more plentiful conditions. We're in a very good place. Trump said the
00:47deal must adhere to some of his red lines including that Tehran should never be able
00:52to develop nuclear weapons. Iran on its end has pushed back against this
00:56requirement. Tehran has repeatedly claimed its nuclear program is peaceful and for
01:01civilian purposes only.
01:07Fasil Opinica is 87 years old. He lives in Galazzi in Romania nearby the building
01:12which was struck by a Russian drone on Friday. From his apartment on the 10th
01:17floor he now regularly scans the sky and the surroundings out of fear for a new
01:21incident. In the case of an emergency Vasil also worries that he would not have enough food supplies
01:37to last until rescuers arrive.
01:40If it is to take a few hours, it is a very complicated situation. We will take it out. I
01:43will come in the phone
01:44the other car. there is nothing out of food.
01:50We won't see anything we will not have food.
01:52We will have to have a more supply of cigarettes at all.
02:04The Russian drone had been part of an overnight attack on Ukraine and changed its trajectory,
02:09what led it to crash in Romania, a NATO member state.
02:13It is unclear what caused the drone to change its course,
02:16but the incident added to concerns that the war could spread across the alliance's borders.
02:24Walters in Malta have cast their ballots on Saturday in a snap general election called by Prime Minister Robert Abella.
02:30Malta, the smallest EU nation, is at the same time the fastest growing economically,
02:35and that's what Abella trusts will secure him and his Labour Party a record fourth term.
02:40Opinion polls put him comfortably ahead with his campaign focusing heavily on economic stability
02:45and on shielding the small Mediterranean nation from global crisis
02:48as the island's GDP grew 4% last year, inflation is low, and there is no real unemployment.
02:55Electricity and fuel prices have also been frozen for the best part of 10 years, making them the lowest in
03:00Europe.
03:01His main rival is nationalist party candidate Alex Borg,
03:05a 30-year-old lawyer who aims to become the country's youngest leader.
03:08The political choice comes despite persistent concerns over environmental degradation,
03:13a foreign-driven construction boom, and deep-seated state corruption.
03:16According to political analysts, many citizens prioritize financial security over political scandal,
03:22despite a highly critical Council of Europe report on institutional corruption.
03:27The administration has also earmarked an additional 250 million euros for subsidies
03:31to cushion families against the fallout of the Middle East conflict.
03:35Preliminary results are expected to emerge on Sunday afternoon.
03:41The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus,
03:45landed in the eastern Ituri province of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday
03:49to assess a severe outbreak of a rare type of Ebola.
03:53The high-level diplomatic intervention comes as the highly contagious hemorrhagic fever
03:57spreads across three eastern provinces and into neighboring Uganda.
04:01According to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
04:05there have already been at least 1,077 suspected cases, including 246 deaths,
04:11while Uganda confirmed nine infections.
04:14Containment efforts are severely hindered by regional insecurity,
04:17with Islamic State-affiliated ADF militants and M23 rebels
04:21controlling significant portions of the territory.
04:24Health officials expressed deep alarm over nearly a million displaced people
04:28living in overcrowded camps near the provincial capital of Bunya,
04:31where poor hygiene could accelerate the epidemic.
04:35In response to the mounting crisis,
04:37both Uganda and Rwanda have closed their borders,
04:39with Kampala enforcing a 21-day quarantine for arrivals from the DRC.
