00:00It is the honour and the privilege of my life to be elected as leader of the Labour Party.
00:07In times like this, we need good government, a government that saves lives and protects our country.
00:15It's a huge responsibility and whether we voted for this government or not, we all rely on it to get
00:22this right.
00:23That's why in the national interest, the Labour Party will play its full part.
00:30Under my leadership, we will engage constructively with the government.
00:34Not opposition for opposition's sake, not scoring party political points or making impossible demands.
00:42But with the courage to support where that's the right thing to do.
00:47But when we do get through this, we cannot go back to business as usual.
00:51This virus has exposed the fragility in our society. It's lifted a curtain.
00:59Too many will have given too much. Some of us will have lost too much.
01:05We know, in our hearts, things are going to have to change.
01:10I want to pay tribute to Jeremy Corbyn, who led our party through some really difficult times.
01:17Who energised our movement. And who's a friend as well as a colleague.
