00:00Let's have some fun tonight because a monster favorite on the ice tonight.
00:04It's Carolina in Carolina taking on the Montreal Canadiens.
00:07So I'm going to ask you this question, Tom.
00:09It's probably a foregoing conclusion.
00:11Carolina is probably going to win this series, if not just wrapping it up tonight.
00:14And what that means for the Stanley Cup final.
00:17Let's say Carolina does win that game tonight,
00:19which means they were almost one time so far in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
00:22I'm a Flyers fan.
00:24I saw it up close and personal.
00:25That team is good at every level, head coach, goaltending, special teams, defensemen,
00:31and forwards all working together.
00:32So if you look at the Cal State marketplace, the Carolina Hurricanes,
00:35a 57% chance to win the Stanley Cup.
00:38Vegas, who's surprised by sweeping the Colorado Avalanche, they're at 42%.
00:43And then there's the Canadians hanging on at 2%.
00:46So, Tom, who is the best team in hockey?
00:48Who is going to lift the Cup?
00:51You know, ultimately, I think the Canes are the best team.
00:54But when we're looking at this, I think Vegas would be the play.
00:57I have all the confidence that either Vegas or the Canes could win,
01:01and especially with just the way the Canes play.
01:04As I said before, they play an absolutely suffocating style of defense,
01:07specifically in the playoffs.
01:08We've seen it throughout the series where the Canadians are ending games
01:12with fewer than 20 shots on goal, which is unbelievable.
01:14But the way Vegas is playing right now and where we are looking at the marketplace,
01:18it has to be a play on Vegas.
01:20I still think the Canes can win, but Vegas, I like where they're sitting.
01:25A lot of experience there.
01:27It should be a great series one way or the other, and I think it's safe to say,
01:32listen, even if Montreal's been great on the road, they can't win at home.
01:37But even if they manage to scrape out a win here, you know it's over if they have to go
01:43back home at that point.
01:44So if you got Caroline and you got Vegas, I think Frederick Anderson, who just apparently
01:50only faces 12 shots a game, is your Conn Smythe leader in the market.
01:56And I get it, but I don't know.
02:00Vegas feels like they're going to pepper him with a lot more shots than what Montreal is.
02:05Right, and if we're trying to transition this from like, okay, we're just expecting it to
02:09be the Canes versus Vegas, I would be looking at Mitch Marner for the Conn Smythe, either
02:13him or Carter Hart, because to your point, if Freddie Anderson is just not seeing a whole
02:19lot of volume, he looks good, but it's like, hey, he only has to stop 15 shots a game because
02:23he only sees 16 or 17.
02:24He looks good, but it's really not the highest level of competition that he's been facing
02:29in terms of volume of shots.
02:30So when we see Vegas being able to pour in 30 shots a game, it's being led by Mitch
02:35Marner, and Jack Eichel has been phenomenal, amazing two-way player.
02:38And Mitch Marner, him having some type of redemption arc because he was never able to get it done
02:43with the Leafs, and it clearly wasn't his problem, I would like to see Mitch Marner win the Conn Smythe.
