00:00Hostinger has to be one of the best hosting providers for beginners, yet it keeps getting
00:04easier.
00:05But that doesn't mean that beginners don't need help.
00:07While I learned all about hosting the hard way, you don't have to.
00:10This time I'm here with a tutorial on how to install WordPress and Hostinger.
00:16First things first, to follow this guide you'll need to have a Hostinger subscription.
00:20To get it at the best price, scan this QR code or click on the link in the description.
00:25It will not only save you money, but will also help this channel make more tutorial content
00:30like this.
00:31If you're already a Hostinger user, you can either follow the onboarding process or use
00:35the auto-installer method, which you can find by using the timestamps.
00:39Now, let's quickly walk through purchasing a plan and setting up WordPress.
00:43After picking your desired plan and completing the checkout process, Hostinger will guide
00:48you to set up WordPress.
00:50If you already have an account, just click the Setup button in the Websites tab and you'll
00:54be brought to the onboarding process.
00:56During setup, Hostinger pre-fills most of the necessary info for your WordPress account,
01:02leaving you to come up with a strong password.
01:04If you're stuck, Hostinger has a handy password generator to help you out.
01:08A quick tip, you can access your website's admin panel directly from the Hostinger dashboard,
01:14so you won't have to remember that password all the time, though I still recommend saving
01:19it in a good password manager.
01:21If you need one, check out our channel.
01:23We've got plenty of reviews on password managers.
01:26Anyhow, back to the onboarding.
01:28After creating your password, you can select your website type.
01:31While this step isn't crucial, it helps Hostinger optimize your experience.
01:35For example, selecting online shop will provide templates and themes geared towards e-commerce.
01:41You can switch the website type anytime, allowing you to explore all templates.
01:46During plugin installation, Hostinger suggests a few options based on your setup.
01:51I recommend keeping Google Site Kit, which gives you analytics directly in your WordPress
01:56dashboard.
01:57You can also search the entire WordPress repository for any plugins, like Yoast SEO for easy search
02:03engine optimization or WordFence for extra security.
02:07While Hostinger makes it easy to add plugins, stick to what's essential to avoid slowing down
02:12your site.
02:13Hostinger will even warn you if selected plugins could conflict with each other.
02:17Finally, Hostinger allows you to register a domain during this process or connect one
02:22you already own.
02:23This completes your Hostinger WordPress setup, so you're ready to start building your site.
02:28While that was the easiest method, I'll show you all the possible methods.
02:31So, next up, Auto-Installer.
02:34To install WordPress or another content management system, simply navigate to your Hostinger dashboard.
02:40Click on Websites from the menu on the left and select Auto-Installer.
02:44Since it's a WordPress tutorial, this time, we'll go with that.
02:48First, you'll have to title your website, then type in your password.
02:52Email and username will already be filled in.
02:54If you click on Advanced, you'll be able to select a different installation path or choose
02:59a different database, but just like Hostinger, I recommend having a new database for your
03:04new website.
03:05So, we just click Next.
03:07In the following window, you'll have to select the WordPress application version.
03:11Hostinger will have the latest stable version selected automatically.
03:14So if you don't know what you're doing, don't change it.
03:17There's also language selection as well as PHP version and update options.
03:21Leaving the update to minor version option is recommended as it will not automatically install
03:27huge updates, but it'll still install the smaller ones that normally iron out bugs or issues.
03:32So we just press install and we're done.
03:34Now, if both of these ways of how to install WordPress fail, or you want something more,
03:39there's always a good old manual way.
03:45This method requires some time and patience, but it's doable if you're comfortable with
03:50a few extra steps.
03:51First, you'll need to upload the WordPress files to your FTP server using the built-in file
03:56manager or a tool like FileZilla, which I'm using for this.
04:00First, find your FTP information by opening Websites, then Manage, and searching for FTP
04:06accounts on the sidebar.
04:07Then just open FileZilla and fill in the Quick Connect section with the FTP details you just
04:12found and click on Quick Connect.
04:14Next, we need to create a database and username through your hosting control panel, making sure
04:19to save the database name, username, and password.
04:22Then you'll edit the wp-config.php file, adding the database and hosting info to connect
04:29everything.
04:30Once that's done, just visit your site's URL and go through the famous 5-minute WordPress
04:34installation.
04:35If you'd like a more detailed tutorial on this, just leave a comment.
04:39I've covered all the methods of how to install WordPress on Hostinger, but sometimes not everything
04:44goes as planned.
04:46So let's quickly cover the common problems that you might face.
04:49If you're facing a 404 not found error, it could be due to broken permalinks.
04:55In that case, just refresh them by going to WordPress settings and then choosing Permalinks.
05:00Take note of the current permalink structure for future reference.
05:03Next, choose any option that differs from the current one.
05:06For example, if the current structure is set to plain, switch to numeric, and click Save
05:12Changes to apply the update.
05:14Afterward, immediately switch back to the original permalink structure and save the changes again.
05:19This action will regenerate the site's permalinks.
05:22To confirm the update, refresh the website by pressing Ctrl F5 or open it in incognito mode.
05:28Now database connection errors usually mean your database info in the wp-config file is incorrect,
05:35so double check those details.
05:37Lastly, if the installation is stuck during setup, clear your browser cache and reload the page.
05:42These problems are fairly easy to fix, but if you need more guidance, don't hesitate
05:47to ask in the comments.
05:48I'll try to help as many of you as I can.
05:50That wraps up this Hostinger WordPress tutorial.
05:53Installing WordPress on Hostinger is a breeze, especially with me guiding you through it.
05:58So if you're ready to jump in, make sure to take advantage of those sweet discounts in
06:03the description.
06:03Thanks for sticking around, and I'll catch you in the next one.
06:06Thanks for tuning in.
06:21Thanks for listening.
