00:02The songs of John Farnham, The Celebration Concert, Sunday September 20, Ron Labour Arena, only in Melbourne, be just witness
00:12history, be part of it, on sale Tuesday the 2nd of June through Ticketek.
00:19So, we're announcing today the songs of John Farnham, A Living Legend, will be played here exclusively in Melbourne on
00:27Sunday the 20th of September.
00:29Now, I don't think anyone needs convincing, but this is truly significant because this man is extraordinarily significant.
00:40John Farnham is without a doubt one of the greatest performers in Australian musical history, and in fact has also
00:47a global reach.
00:49He is indeed an Australian living legend, known for songs like You're the Voice, one of my favourites, along with
00:56Pressure Down, and albums like Whispering Jack, which celebrate their 40th year this year.
01:04But just to give you a sense of how extraordinary this man is, and others behind me can speak more
01:10to this, but just to remind people, he still holds a record for the highest selling album by an Australian
01:16artist.
01:18He's got the record for the highest ticket sales by any Australian artist in every entertainment centre across Australia.
01:27That's extraordinary.
01:38No one else has 94 times at Melbourne Park, attracting a million people audience.
01:44Richard Marks, Keith Urban, Tina Arena, Jimmy Barnes, Mahalia Barnes, Kate Sobrano, Diesel, Hans, Human Nature, Jack Jones, Jessica Malboy,
01:59Rudy Rogers, John Stevens, Mitch Tambo, Mark Vincent, Ross Wilson, and more to be announced.
02:06The word legend is thrown around too much these days, and in John's case, it is insufficient.
02:15If you look up supremely talented, world-class voice, larrikin of the first order, and a deeply caring Australian in
02:24the dictionary, there's a photograph of John Farnie.
02:29He is one of us, he is part of us, and you have my word, and Paul's word, and Theo's
02:35word, we plan on knocking this thing right out of the park.
02:39We plan on putting on a show that Melbourne, Victoria, and Australia are super, super proud of.
02:50Now, an almost bizarre twist to all of this saga, is that when we did approach John about this, and
02:57suggest a celebration concert, he said, no.
03:03It was just too much about him.
03:05He didn't feel he was deserving of such an honour, and it took a lot to turn him, a lot.
03:12His only wish in the end was, that we give his charity, the time and the spotlight, and that's what
03:21got him over the line.
03:23We're all lucky, lucky that John Farnie has touched our lives.
03:27On Sunday the 20th of September, in just a small, very small way, we get to touch his.
03:34How very special for every Australian.
03:42You
