00:11You have to wait for cases and controversies, which is the language of the Constitution, to wind their way through

00:18If I'm confirmed, you would not be getting Justice Scalia, you would be getting Justice Barrett.
00:23I commit to you to fully and faithfully applying the law of recusal, and part of that law is to
00:30consider any appearance questions.
00:33And I will apply the factors that other justices have before me in determining whether the circumstances require my recusal
00:40or not.
00:40But I can't offer a legal conclusion right now about the outcome of the decision I would reach.
00:46I want to begin by making two very important points, and they have to do with the ACA and with
00:53any election dispute that may or may not arise.
00:56I have had no conversation with the president or any of his staff on how I might rule in that
