00:01Back here at Oracle Park as we get ready for Game 2 of this three-game series
00:05between the Blue Jays and the Jackets.
00:08It's law enforcement appreciation night.
00:11The motorcycle police officers were all lined up on the warning tracks
00:15through the whole pregame ceremony with all their siren lights flashing.
00:18The Coast Guard, or maybe it was a San Francisco Fire Department boat,
00:22was out in McCovey Cove firing off the water cannons.
00:25The CHP helicopters, I think there were five of them,
00:28a helicopter flyover at the end of that anthem as well.
00:31Good job tonight.
00:32On the hill tonight for the Giants will be the right-hander Logan Webb,
00:366'1", 220-pound, 27-year-old.
00:39The pride of Rockland High School.
00:41And the thing about Logan Webb is that he is on a roll right now.
00:44He has finished at least seven innings on 11 different occasions so far this year,
00:48most of any pitchers in the majors.
00:50Goes out there, he's going to get you deep in the game, man.
00:52He's going to give a little rest to that bullpen.
00:54Springer, who had an 0-4 game last night, hitting .218,
00:58with 10 home runs, two-strike pitch, struck in, out swinging.
01:01And that was the big sweeping slider.
01:04So he comes out of the gate and throws a great slider right away.
01:08So here's Horowitz, got him.
01:11And man, Davey reached back for a little extra on that one, 95 miles an hour.
01:15That's pretty amazing.
01:16And here is Vlad Guerrero Jr.
01:17towards the hole, and a backhand by Wisely.
01:21Not a problem.
01:22Nice inning for Logan Webb.
01:24Giants are coming out.
01:25Chris Bassett on the mound.
01:26Chris has been very good, but coming off a tough one against the Astros, he went five innings,
01:30but he allowed eight hits.
01:32He walked four.
01:33He was dealing with all kinds of traffic.
01:35It took him 105 pitches to get through his five innings.
01:38And he had been really rock solid heading into that start, so he'll try to start a new streak of
01:45that kind.
01:46Lamont Wade Jr., swing and a bloop along the left field line, falling, and in there, base hit.
01:51Over the field and on the hop right at the foul line.
01:53Far show, and a base hit for Lamont Wade Jr.
01:56So now Ramos, 0-2 from Bassett, and that's off the glove of Kirk.
02:02It looked like a cutter, and you don't, you never see that happen.
02:07But that's got to be a pass ball charged to Kirk, and all of a sudden there's a runner in
02:10scoring position
02:11right out of the gate here tonight.
02:13Two and two, the count now.
02:14Now he bounces one to the right side, that'll move the runner up.
02:17Strike count, he got a tough pitch to handle, but still moved him up.
02:20And now the Giants have runners at first and third with only one out.
02:24And now we got a couple of guys who not only know each other very well,
02:28but they are good buddies in Chris Bassett and Matt Chapman.
02:31The lay kick delivery, and they get Chapman looking.
02:35Matt Chapman doesn't like the call, but it certainly did look like he caught the bottom part of his own.
02:39That sinker fell right in for Bassett, sits down Chapman, and now there's two away.
02:44So an arduous inning here for Bassett, who's trying to wriggle off the hook.
02:49He's been a little bit vulnerable in this inning now with his 25th pitch of the inning.
02:53Ground ball right past him, up the middle, base hit.
02:56Bailey to third, it's 1-0 Giants.
02:59Comebacker to the mound, looked like Chris just missed it.
03:01This has been a long, long inning for Bassett, so maybe just trying to give him a bit of a
03:06breather.
03:06As Tyro Estrada, the second baseman tonight for the Giants, steps in.
03:11Lined in the right center field, it's going to fall.
03:14Conforto stops at second, coming in to score is Bailey, and it's 2-0.
03:19Two straight, two-out RBI hits, and here's Yaz.
03:23And Yastrzemski jumps on that one.
03:25Center field, though, on a line, coming in to make the grab is Kevin Kiermaier,
03:29and the Jays finally get out of the inning.
03:31Giants 2, Blue Jays nothing.
03:34Second inning, one out, nobody on.
03:36Got him.
03:37That sinker came from the outside right back over the heart of the play.
03:40Three strikeouts for Webb, and here comes Varsho.
03:42Little tapper, who's it going to be?
03:46Well, he got him with the tag, and let's make sure everybody's okay.
03:51And what an athletic play from Webb.
03:55The Blue Jays go down in order in the second.
03:58The Blue Jays right now telling us that Varsho was removed from this game.
04:02And not good news at all on the injury front for the Blue Jays.
04:04But, boy, this has been really a struggle from the outset for Chris Bassett on a number of fronts here
04:09tonight.
04:10We've seen him on the mound in the past.
04:12Looked very cerebral, looked fatigued, looked like he's looking all over,
04:16but it really seems like he is searching, not able to execute his pitches tonight.
04:21Three walks in a row, four in the outing so far.
04:24That matches the most walks he has surrendered in a game so far this season.
04:29And it's only the second inning.
04:31And it's popped up.
04:32Foul territory, three of them are there, and Bassett makes the catch as he and Clement collide.
04:40But gently so, everybody's okay.
04:43And after all of that in the bottom of the second, Bassett gets out of it.
04:47And the Giants will leave the bases loaded.
04:50So now Schneider on first as Alejandro Kirk steps in.
04:54There's some evidence over the last few days that maybe Kirk is coming around.
04:58Bounce to the left side and through for a base hit.
05:01Kirk is two for two.
05:02Schneider up to second.
05:03Webb gets that ball on the ground.
05:04That's an inning-ending double play.
05:06And that's why Webb is so frustrated right there.
05:08He thought he'd be walking to the dugout.
05:09Now Ernie Clement comes up with two on and one out here for the top of the fifth.
05:14Clement lifts one to left field.
05:16He's tagged it pretty well.
05:17And he's done it again!
05:20Ernie Clement with his second three-run homer in as many games.
05:25And the Blue Jays have the lead.
05:28So the Blue Jays have scored six runs in two games.
05:32And they've all been driven in on a pair of Ernie Clement home runs.
05:36The power of the long ball.
05:38Talk about getting you back in a ball game with one swing in the bat.
05:41Blue Jays have missed that this year.
05:43Giants now trailed here in the fifth.
05:45Here's Conforto.
05:46Bailey the runner at first.
05:47He's wrapped to the gap.
05:49And it's going to shoot by everybody.
05:53Here comes Bailey.
05:55He's going to score.
05:56And this game is tied.
05:59Before you make a mistake up above the belt right now to Caporto, he is going to make you hurt.
06:04I said not happy with that location mistake.
06:06So it's a double for Vladi to start this sixth inning.
06:09It brings up Justin Turner.
06:11Up the middle.
06:12And it's through for a base hit.
06:14And Carlos Fablos is waving Guerrero home.
06:17And the Blue Jays have the lead.
06:19Action in the Giants' bullpen.
06:21As Jimenez rips one.
06:23And it's going to get to the wall.
06:24Into left center.
06:26He's turning to second.
06:28And Turner's going to stop at third.
06:30So the vet goes from first to third.
06:32And the youngster stands on second base with the double.
06:36Davis Schneider stepping in.
06:38Oh, and that gets through wisely.
06:40Maybe a funny bounce on that one.
06:42But he could not put a glove on it.
06:45And the Blue Jays catch a break and score a run.
06:48And it's the end of the night for Logan Webb.
06:51What a display of hitting this inning.
06:54And you look back at these last couple of base hits.
06:56Kirk and now Clement going the other way.
06:59Just punching it through the open right side.
07:01And cashing in runs.
07:02And Springer gets underneath one on the first pitch.
07:05Here comes Kirk.
07:06Here comes Kiermaier.
07:08It is 9-3.
07:10Vasali at third.
07:12Lamont Wade at first.
07:13Chats needs some Robbo's thunder.
07:14Ground ball.
07:15Diving at third and getting another one.
07:17And then throwing it away at second base.
07:19Was Clement.
07:20And a run will score.
07:22So now top of the order.
07:23George Springer.
07:24One for four.
07:25Had a two-run double his last time up.
07:27Capping.
07:27The six-run sixth.
07:30Another well-hit ball by Springer.
07:32Deep left center.
07:34And it's all the way to the wall.
07:36Clement around third getting the wave.
07:38And he will score standing up.
07:41As the Blue Jays add to their lead.
07:43It is 10-4.
07:44Another double for Springer as he continues to swing a hot stick.
07:49Last chance here for the Giants.
07:51Are down big.
07:52Bound Francis.
07:52The right-hander takes over on the mound for the Blue Jays.
07:5610-4.
07:57Toronto.
07:58Bottom nine.
07:59Top three hitters in the Giants batting.
08:01He would have been on base a lot.
08:02Which would make you think they'd scored more runs.
08:04And there's a high drive.
08:06Deep center field.
08:07Way back there.
08:07Still going.
08:08And goodbye.
08:10Over the center field wall.
08:13A home run for Patrick Bailey to make it 10-5 Toronto.
08:18Bailey been struggling a little bit.
08:20At the plate.
08:22But tonight.
08:23Two hits and three walks.
08:25He's been on base five times.
08:27And here's Matt Chapman.
08:28Hitless in the series against his former club.
08:30He's 0 for 8 so far.
08:32And there's a shot.
08:33Adios.
08:34Pellet.
08:36Two consecutive home runs in the ninth inning for the Giants.
08:41Well, the Giants can do that four more times.
08:44We're going to tie a game.
08:46Well, hey, we saw seven hits in one inning in the sixth inning for the Blue Jays.
08:50Why not?
08:51One out away from a victory.
08:53Francis with the pitch.
08:54Down Main Street with the fastball.
08:57And he strikes out Estrada to win the game.
