Police are investigating a bullying incident involving a group of teenage girls believed to have taken place near a school compound in Kota Kinabalu last week.

The investigation began after a 13-year-old girl lodged a police report on May 23 regarding the incident, with the suspects believed to be members of a chat group known as “Angel”.

00:10The investigation began after a 13-year-old girl lodged a police report on May 23 regarding the incident,
00:17which allegedly happened a day earlier.

00:26said the victim was attacked at around 8 a.m. by five girls known to her.
00:31According to the victim, the girls assaulted her, leaving bruises on several parts of her body.
00:37Investigations revealed that the suspects were members of a chat group known as Angel,
00:42although they attended different schools.
00:45Police said the incident was believed to have stemmed from dissatisfaction
00:49following a misunderstanding among the girls.
00:52The victim claimed she was brought to the location by two of the suspects
00:57before the others allegedly ambushed and assaulted her.
01:00The suspects also allegedly warned the victim not to report the incident
01:04and threatened her with further harm if she did so.
01:07The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for Rioting
01:12and Section 506 for Criminal Intimidation.
