00:00Show a little butt, show a little side cheek.
00:02You know, Sydney's out here with the girls every week.
00:04She really is. I don't know what was in that contract, but she ain't clothed often.
00:12Welcome back to Yab Session, where we get into all the most fun water cooler topics here at Page Six.
00:18And of course, Memorial Day weekend gave us the AMAs.
00:21The AMAs!
00:22Surprise! There was an award show this weekend.
00:24No, I was shocked. I had no idea. Did you guys watch?
00:27I feel like people did not watch.
00:28It was raining and I feel like people still didn't watch.
00:30They still didn't watch. It was crazy. What happened to the marketing budget?
00:33That's what I want to know.
00:34There is no screaming.
00:35I had no idea. But I did catch up. It seemed like it was a good time.
00:38Yeah, K-pop swept. Yeah.
00:40Golden was the best song of the year. You know, BTS won Best Artist and Song of the Summer.
00:45Which I feel is a little early to be giving out the Song of the Summer.
00:48It's only the first weekend of Summer, we're deciding the Song of the Summer.
00:51Right.
00:51It should be like a Labor Day decision.
00:53Raise your hand if you'd heard their song Swim before.
00:55Hadn't heard it.
00:56Crickets. Not at all.
00:57I heard it.
00:57This is sort of a, you know, suspicious award show.
01:00The AMAs is fan voted. Who knows how they actually weight the votes.
01:05Right.
01:05Some of them are Instagram comments.
01:07They're a mystery.
01:08See, the Instagram comments throws me off.
01:09Because I'm like, the amount of bots out there that could be voting.
01:13Yeah.
01:13I'm like, this is crazy. Yeah.
01:14But BTS did open the show and they had a great performance.
01:17And Cat's Eye, you know, another, you know, K-pop adjacent band, they also performed.
01:21So we're seeing K-pop having, having its moment at the AMA.
01:25Maybe this is the KMAs.
01:26It's the KMAs.
01:27It's the KMAs.
01:27It's nice to see BTS out there because we know that they took a four year hiatus to,
01:30you know, serve their, you know, military mandatory service.
01:34So it's nice to see them back in the mix and getting right back to it and being awarded for
01:37their hard work.
01:38Even when SZA won her award, she gave a little, she fangirls, she was like, BTS, I have to take
01:42my moment during her award speech to say she loved them so much.
01:45And Taylor came into the night, Taylor Swift, had the most nominations and walked away with zero trophies.
01:51Zero?
01:52Which is kind of crazy.
01:53Yeah, we don't hear that about trophies.
01:54I think she has the most of any, most AMAs of any artist ever.
01:58Yeah.
01:58So the Swifties are sleeping.
02:00Yeah.
02:00They were busy celebrating more of that.
02:02They were not voting, yeah.
02:02And the AMA voters or whoever they are said, Taylor ain't gonna show up, we ain't gonna vote for you.
02:06Yeah, apparently.
02:08Well, here's, here's what I want to say about the night.
02:09It was a night for the millennials, honey.
02:11You saw Black Eyed Peas won the throwback song of the night or of the year with Rock Your Body.
02:17They were up there.
02:18First of all, it was so good to see our icons from like, you know, our day, our time come
02:23together.
02:23They still look so good.
02:25They were so happy.
02:26Like, you know, sometimes people fall out.
02:26Pussycat Dolls.
02:27Yeah, Pussycat Dolls.
02:28They had to cancel their tour, but they, it's too bad because this performance was so good.
02:33They look good, the red latex.
02:34And they have so many good songs.
02:35I can't shout out Pussycat Dolls without seeing like, Melody and some of the other older ladies.
02:39I know we're missing some.
02:40We're missing a few, so.
02:42We are.
02:42They did Pussycat Dolls.
02:43They did Loosen Up My Buttons.
02:45They did Doncha.
02:46They brought Busta Rhymes out.
02:48Another amazing millennial icon.
02:50Pussycat Dolls is so talented.
02:52She's the star.
02:53The mic was on.
02:54Yeah.
02:54Do you know who wasn't so good in the millennial category though?
02:57New Kids on the Block.
02:58Oh.
02:58I haven't even thought about that in a long minute.
03:00I felt, I felt old.
03:01Like, I felt like I was like, I could feel their bones creaking.
03:04We're gonna need some Tylenol after that.
03:05We didn't need to throw out that many invitations for this show.
03:07Like, so few people are watching.
03:08Did New Kids on the Block really need an invite?
03:10Not quite sure.
03:10Oh, but Busta Rhymes was so good.
03:11Yes.
03:11That was great.
03:12I love seeing Busta Rhymes and of course Queen Latifah hosted the show.
03:15Yeah.
03:15She did.
03:16She looked so good.
03:17My, we call her the Silk Press Queen.
03:18Her hair always looks beautiful.
03:20Yes.
03:20She gave us a ponytail.
03:22I loved the jumpsuit where she started out the show.
03:24She looked amazing and she just, she brought some like natural energy to it.
03:27I loved Queen Latifah.
03:28She had a moment with Ludacris, another millennial.
03:30For the millennials, we loved Ludacris.
03:31It really was a millennial night.
03:32Yeah, it was a millennial night.
03:33Ludacris was there.
03:34He was backstage taking photos.
03:35It was great.
03:36Yeah, I think Queen Latifah was like my favorite moment to see her and her wife and their child.
03:40Because I know that there was, you know, a little bit of like speculation about like,
03:45are they together?
03:46Are they not together?
03:46And like to finally see, you know, she's, she's come out with them before and taking pictures on the red
03:51carpets before.
03:51But like to really see her like openly love and embrace her family.
03:55Like I just think it's beautiful.
03:56Yeah.
03:56I have to say, I've met, you know, a few celebrities over the years.
03:59And whenever someone asks who was your favorite, it was Queen Latifah.
04:03I, you know, met her working at VH1 and I went in and I said, you know, I just want
04:07to run some questions by you ahead of time.
04:09Um, what should I call you?
04:10Your Majesty?
04:12And she said, call me Dana.
04:14Oh, alright.
04:15That's a real name.
04:16I watched, I was like, she's such a star.
04:18She's so beautiful in person.
04:20Yes, yes.
04:20Like flawless.
04:21I mean, I mean, I know she's been the face of what?
04:24Cover girl.
04:25I'm sure L'Oreal.
04:26Like she's always, she's been out there in the beauty world, but she is really just so stunning.
04:30And last night, or yeah, this weekend she looks so beautiful.
04:33And I think she's a Jersey girl, right?
04:34Queen Latifah is a Jersey girl.
04:35She's representing us Jersey folks.
04:37Yeah, we love the Jersey.
04:38Yes.
04:38Represent Jersey.
04:39Loved it.
04:40Other big, other shout outs, I want to give Somber a shout out.
04:44I love Somber.
04:44That's a homewrecker.
04:44He won a couple AMAs and his performance, you know, for Homewrecker, he got drenched.
04:50I always like it when they open up the skies and make them perform in the rain.
04:55I mean, he just, he feels like he's a real like star here to stay.
04:59And his songs all over the radio.
05:01Yeah.
05:01Give us some theatrics.
05:02I love it.
05:02I love a rain moment.
05:03Yeah.
05:03We don't really see that from the AMAs.
05:05I think it's very simple.
05:05So it was nice to kind of-
05:07Very quiet.
05:07He brought the VMAs to the AMAs.
05:09Yes, exactly.
05:10It was very MTV event.
05:12Speaking of the rain, honey, Tiana Taylor had that wet hair look.
05:15Tiana's everywhere.
05:16She's everywhere.
05:17But you know, she gave choreography.
05:18Yeah.
05:19Always.
05:19She gave you choreography, but you weren't getting a lick of real singing out of her.
05:21I'll tell you what.
05:22Now one, like the mic was completely off.
05:25She took the night off.
05:25She took the night off.
05:26She said, it's Memorial Day.
05:27I didn't work in the rest of our country.
05:28You shut up.
05:28That's all you're getting out of me.
05:29You get this choreography.
05:30That was it.
05:31But it was very good.
05:32It was fun to see her on the carpet behind the scenes with her daughters.
05:35And they were like interviewing her.
05:36She said, mom, tell us what you have on quick.
05:38She said, okay, I think I have on Balenciaga or whatever.
05:40You'll do whatever for your kids.
05:41She's so good on the red carpet too.
05:42She really takes the moment to talk to the journalists that are there.
05:46She does.
05:46As people that work in the industry, I think we all probably appreciate that.
05:49Another person that took some time to talk to the press was Lisa Rinna, who also presented
05:53with Hannah Burner.
05:54Yep.
05:55But she was talking.
05:56They asked her, you're engaged politically.
05:57What do you think?
05:58Who should be the next mayor of LA?
06:00And you know, Spencer Pratt.
06:01Shame voting for Spencer Pratt.
06:02Spencer Pratt was up.
06:03She said, absolutely not.
06:04It shouldn't be a reality star.
06:05We've done that before.
06:07We shouldn't do that again.
06:08I don't like that.
06:09She said, I'm a reality star.
06:10Don't vote for me.
06:11You wouldn't want me to be mayor.
06:13The country didn't follow that lesson 10 years ago.
06:15Literally.
06:16We'll see how it turns out for Spencer Pratt.
06:17Exactly.
06:18I mean, Lisa always just looks so fun on the red carpet.
06:21She turns like these crazy, she's almost in like her super villain era.
06:24Yeah.
06:25These outfits head to toe are just so nuts.
06:26The glasses did give a little blind.
06:28I'm not going to lie.
06:29It was like crazy.
06:30Completely blacked out.
06:31She loves a big pair of sunglasses.
06:32Yeah.
06:33She loves a big glass.
06:34Watching the show, they cut to her and Harry like in the front row, you know, the whole
06:37show.
06:38And you're like, are there any bigger stars in the audience?
06:40No problem.
06:42Yeah.
06:44I mean, maybe 2027 they'll switch things up.
06:47Or maybe they just don't care.
06:48And it's like, let's just throw it on.
06:49Moral day.
06:49Whoever watches, watches.
06:50Whoever comes, comes.
06:51And we'll move right on.
06:52It definitely gives whoever comes, comes.
06:54Yeah, for sure.
06:54I mean, it was, they did the big show at the Vegas, at the MGM in Vegas, and it looked
06:59like a big show.
07:00But who knows these days?
07:01I'm like, maybe these were AI audience members.
07:04You never know.
07:04You never know.
07:06You never know.
07:06You never know.
07:07You never know.
07:08You never know.
07:09You know, it's funny.
07:11They were talking about the blue dot effect for a lot of these big concerts.
07:14And like, Pussycat Dolls had to cancel their concert.
07:17The blue dot effect is when you open up Ticketmaster, you see a lot of empty seats.
07:21And so, so there's all these like, you know, really fun acts that can't sell arenas anymore.
07:26So, you know, for me, the AMAs is a chance to see them get to perform and really like,
07:31to a big, to a big crowd.
07:33Yeah.
07:33It's fun.
07:33And they get nervous too, you know?
07:35It's like, these, these performances live forever.
07:37They do.
07:38But I didn't know what Cat's Eye, when they won their award, every single person gave
07:43their little speech in like a different language.
07:45I said, this is very much the United Nations of the group.
07:47I did not know this.
07:48The AMAs got real serious there.
07:49They got real serious.
07:49They're not playing around.
07:50It was fun.
07:51It was really, it was a fun night.
07:52I think also the first guy who spoke from the Black Eyed Peace acceptance speech,
07:56spoken Filipino language.
07:58So it was a very international AMAs this year.
08:01I'd love to see it.
08:01Yeah.
08:02American Music Awards.
08:04International, yeah.
08:05Parallel.
08:06So Taylor Swift skipped the AMAs, but she was in Ohio at the, supporting the Knicks.
08:14Yeah.
08:14She and Travis were chugging beers in the front row.
08:17I saw that.
08:17What is going on?
08:18I was like, he's really a frat boy to the death of him.
08:21I tell you what.
08:22I didn't know.
08:22Did you guys know that she was like into the Knicks?
08:24I guess she's just into it because of him.
08:25I mean, I feel like at this point when they make it so far.
08:26She was like, I'm into my man.
08:27Yeah.
08:28Well, she was supporting the Cavs.
08:30Yeah.
08:30Okay.
08:30Okay.
08:31So wrong side of history there.
08:33Wrong side of history.
08:34Because the Knicks won four games in a row.
08:36It was a sweep.
08:37And now they're moving on to the NBA Finals.
08:39Travis is from Cleveland.
08:40We are not a sports crew normally.
08:43We're trying.
08:44We're trying.
08:45We're trying to talk about basketball.
08:46Yes, we are.
08:46Because the NBA is bringing out some huge stars.
08:48Of course, Kylie and Timmy.
08:50Yeah.
08:50Huge Knicks fans.
08:51First of all, she was there with her camera.
08:52She was with you and George's mom.
08:54Very much a la the mean girl's mom.
08:55Yes.
08:55You're doing great, sweetie.
08:56And she really, time after time, is letting Timmy have his moment.
08:59Whether it be the Oscars, Golden Globes run that he had during Marty's Supreme.
09:02Or now with the Knicks.
09:03Because if there's a Knicks game, Timmy Chalamet is there.
09:06Yeah.
09:06And she's taking pictures.
09:07I mean, no.
09:08She's not a New Yorker.
09:09She's an LA gal.
09:10Yeah.
09:10So we'll invite her over to come support our home city.
09:13But it's fun to see her get really involved.
09:15What's with that little camera?
09:16It's almost like a wind-up disposable camera.
09:19Kylie, just pull out the iPhone.
09:21Girl, come on.
09:21We know you're saturating all your photos anyway.
09:23Right.
09:23I'm screaming.
09:24But it's fun to see them there.
09:25And Timmy is just die hard.
09:26You've got to respect it.
09:27Like, he is so loyal to this.
09:28Yeah.
09:29I mean, we're all in New York, right?
09:30So the streets were littered with Knicks fans last night.
09:33They're on top of MSG.
09:34They're wilding out.
09:35They're having a great time.
09:36So New York, enjoy this.
09:38And we hope that you guys...
09:39It's the first time since 1999 that they've went to the finals.
09:42Yeah.
09:42Wow.
09:42It's a big deal.
09:43Now, I know I sound like a sports podcast.
09:44I don't get too excited.
09:45That's all I know.
09:46I like this tweet from Mayor Zoran Mamdani.
09:49He said, he added the NYC sanitation and said,
09:52I'd like to report a sweep.
09:54Oh, that's good.
09:55Finally we come.
09:56He's a super fan.
09:57I mean, Spike Lee was at game four.
09:59Tracy Morgan was there.
10:02Who else was in the crowd?
10:03Oh, MGK was there.
10:05Yeah.
10:05Yeah.
10:06So it was a star-studded big game.
10:09The girls were having fun.
10:11Or the guys.
10:11Yeah.
10:12The girls and the guys.
10:13It is ironic that Taylor and Travis went to the game over the weekend,
10:16again supporting Cleveland, and then they lost.
10:19And it's like, all right, Taylor finally stepped out for something.
10:21And it's like, you know, wrong side of the team.
10:23Can we talk about how Timmy has...
10:25I'm feeling the love again for Timmy now that he doesn't have a mustache.
10:28Is it directly related?
10:30And the haircut.
10:30I didn't know.
10:30The haircut's looking good.
10:32It's the haircut too.
10:34It was the combination of no mustache and the haircut.
10:36It's the haircut.
10:36Hair's already getting too long.
10:37We gotta trim it again.
10:38Yeah, let's trim it.
10:38Get back to that barber.
10:39But there was...
10:40He got a real good cut.
10:40I think it was like a week ago.
10:41And it's starting to change now.
10:42But everyone was in the office talking about the haircut.
10:44Everyone on the internet is talking about the haircut.
10:46A haircut could make a brick a man.
10:47It does make him look like a teenager, I will say.
10:49He does look like a child.
10:51Well, I feel like one thing about Timmy, he's always looking like a child.
10:53Yeah.
10:53But apparently it doesn't bother Kylie.
10:54Yeah, they don't seem to...
10:56Visually, seeing them together, it's kind of shocking.
10:59You know, she's...
10:59Obviously, there's a lot of body there.
11:01She's a Kardashian-Jenner.
11:03And he's such a slim guy.
11:05Like, seeing them together is always a bit jarring to me.
11:08But, you know, obviously they're so in love.
11:10They've been dating for over three years.
11:11They basically live together.
11:13They've talked about wanting to, like, you know, both have kids.
11:16They haven't said it together.
11:17But, you know, she wants more kids.
11:20He wants to be a dad.
11:21You know, I think...
11:22I'm a believer now in this couple.
11:25Like, seeing how much time they spend together.
11:26Yeah, she does seem happier than ever than any of the other relationships I've seen her.
11:30Like, she's genuinely happy.
11:31He seems like the funny guy that she didn't want to give a shot in the beginning,
11:34and then you gave him a shot, and he's the love of your life.
11:36And I feel like they have a really nice balance, too.
11:39Because, you know, she really has, like, very low energy, like her and her sisters.
11:42But he's, like, the direct opposite, like, seeing him, like, super hyped at this game.
11:46And then she's just there with her camera.
11:48I feel like she actually...
11:49Because I've always thought, like...
11:50I don't know if Kylie likes the spotlight as much as some of the other Kardashian-Jenners.
11:54So I actually think that she loves that he kind of takes over the room
11:57and is a little bit more loud and boisterous.
11:59And she kind of likes taking a back seat.
12:00So I think that balance is actually working for them.
12:02And now it's kind of that mojo is moving on to Kendall and Jacob Elordi.
12:07Yeah.
12:08They're kind of dating.
12:09And so the Kardashian-Jenners are realizing maybe Hollywood is the next place to pick their new boyfriends.
12:15Yeah, they went through a lot of...
12:16Speaking of basketball, they did go through a couple basketball guys.
12:19Athletes.
12:20Yeah, musicians.
12:22Now it's the Oscar nominees.
12:24They're getting settled at the Oscars every year now.
12:26You know what?
12:26I like it for Kendall and Jacob.
12:29I'm like, I see it for them.
12:30I'm like, this works.
12:31Yeah, I do.
12:32It's like the popular girl and the popular guy of high school.
12:34The football player and the cheerleader get together.
12:36It seems like...
12:37It just fits.
12:37It makes sense to me.
12:38But I think Kylie and Timmy are here to stay.
12:40Kendall, Jacob...
12:42Could be a quick fling.
12:43Yeah.
12:43But I think Kylie and Timmy...
12:44I'm putting my money on them.
12:45It was a big week though for Jacob Elordi.
12:47Oh my God.
12:47His character, Nate.
12:49Spoiler alert.
12:49If you haven't watched episode seven of Euphoria...
12:53Done.
12:54Got the axe.
12:55In the worst way.
12:55God rest your soul.
12:56Oh my gosh.
12:57It is gruesome.
12:58No, it's bad.
12:58It is gruesome.
12:59It's really bad.
13:00He gets buried alive because he owned like around a million dollars to a loan shark.
13:04Obviously, they deal with him accordingly.
13:05Bury him alive.
13:06Leave a pipe down and have a snake slither through it.
13:10And obviously, snake reaches Nate Jacobs.
13:13Nate Jacobs is no longer with us.
13:14And it's so crazy because that was a real snake that they put down.
13:17Yes.
13:18In there.
13:19Oh my God.
13:19Yeah, the director, Sam Levinson was like, I want a real snake in here.
13:22So, it was revealed that it was a boa constrictor, which don't bite.
13:25Right.
13:26But they added a rattle to it to make the noise.
13:29I hate snakes.
13:29And Jacob was talking about how, you know, he does a lot of his own stunts.
13:33So, he was in the coffin.
13:34His arms are unable to move.
13:35So, this snake was, you know, was in the real coffin with him.
13:39I mean, it is...
13:40Yeah.
13:40I was just...
13:41I kept thinking the Indiana Jones line, like, why has it got to be snakes?
13:44You know, because I couldn't watch this.
13:45Yeah.
13:45It was too real for me.
13:46And a lot of it seemed like it was shot in a real way.
13:50Yeah, definitely.
13:50Would you rather just be buried alive or just get bitten by a snake?
13:53Like, he had to deal with both situations.
13:55Which would you rather?
13:56I feel like snake...
13:57Because one's a real slow death.
13:58I'll take the snake.
13:58The other one, the snake gets over quickly.
14:00I'd rather do snake.
14:00Give me the snake, too.
14:02Like, ugh, I'm getting the heebie-jeebies thinking about it.
14:03I feel like bringing the snake in there, like, your anxiety will already be on 10,000.
14:08Yeah.
14:08Like, you're gonna have a heart attack before the snake bites you.
14:11Yeah.
14:12And I would just prefer not to be buried alive.
14:14Pay back your debt, folks.
14:15Because this is what happens if you don't pay people back, apparently.
14:17This is a show about high school friends.
14:19Yeah.
14:20It's like, and what are we doing?
14:21We've got the mob.
14:22We've got OnlyFans.
14:23Like, it's so crazy now.
14:25And, you know, I think this season, a lot of people were saying with season three, Nate's
14:30characters seem to be totally different, too.
14:32Like, Eric, can you talk a little bit about this?
14:33Yeah.
14:33Like, what was he like seasons one and two, and then now he seems like he got a lobotomy?
14:37Yeah, I think that there, no, truly, that's actually exactly what people are saying.
14:40I feel like there just has been a disconnect when the, you know, five-year time jump happened.
14:44But it's like, you still want to sit with those characters and understand them.
14:48And it seems like, for whatever reason, I don't know if it was a Jacob decision,
14:50a Sam Levinson decision, the writer's room, there's just been a strong disconnect
14:54of, like, who he was and just the way he's been acting.
14:57It doesn't seem like the Nate Jacobs that we knew in seasons one and two.
15:00So there's definitely been a huge disconnect there.
15:03And I feel like that's why there also isn't as much sympathy and emotional reaction towards his death.
15:08Because I don't think people were emotionally, you know, connected to him anymore as this season isn't going on.
15:13Yeah, Sam Levinson said it was supposed to be, like, comeuppance and, like, karma for the Nate character.
15:16And it's like, but if he's sort of become a nice guy husband to Cassie, then you're like,
15:22like, maybe you feel guilty, like, watching him die this way.
15:25It's so gruesome.
15:26Yeah, and a big storyline was, you know, his relationship with him and his dad, played by Eric Dane.
15:30Obviously, they weren't able to, you know, make that happen because Eric Dane was sick.
15:34Now he's since passed away.
15:35But he was sick during the filming, so we lost that as a big storyline.
15:39So, and people have been said, like, Jacob was actually probably there for, like, a week,
15:42and they did all his scenes, and he was booked and busy, and he left.
15:45And then people are saying the same with Zendaya because they don't have scenes together.
15:47He's like, I'm Frankenstein's monster, I'm out of here.
15:49Yeah, so it all comes off very choppy, and I think when you understand more of the behind-the-scenes
15:53stuff,
15:53it's even more evident when you have that knowledge.
15:56Yeah, the episode also had a Nepo baby.
15:58Richard Gere's son, Homer Gere, plays a movie star who has sex with Sidney Sweeney's character.
16:06Just another episode of Ephoria.
16:08Richard Gere's son having sex with Sidney Sweeney, yeah, so she...
16:11This was a very steamy scene.
16:13It really was.
16:13And it's like, this is happening, and then later in the episode, her husband,
16:16because Sidney and Jacob's characters are married, gets buried alive and killed,
16:19and they ask her to, you know, find the money, and she's too little too late.
16:22But yeah, she's trying to win, you know, her following back because she deleted her OnlyFans,
16:26and so her and Maddie come up with this scheme to get her in bed with the movie star played
16:30by Richard Gere's son
16:31and take a picture so that it, you know, blows her following up again, which happens,
16:35but at the same time, her husband is killed later in the episode.
16:38So, not a great episode for Cassie, either.
16:40Yeah, and, you know, people were, you know, I noticed on Twitter, people were sort of saying,
16:43we've seen so much of Sidney Sweeney's body once again, and then here we've got Homer Gere,
16:49you know, he's in his boxer briefs, but this is a, they're like, we don't even get his butt, you
16:52know?
16:53Yeah.
16:53It's like, bring us some real nudity.
16:55And he's a good-looking guy, just saying, if anyone's been looking on Twitter, he's a good-looking guy.
16:58He got those genetics passed down, you know, Richard Gere, one of the most famously handsomest, you know, guys in
17:03Hollywood,
17:03and it's like, show a little butt, show a little side cheek.
17:07Yeah.
17:07You know, Sidney's out here with the girls every week.
17:10She really is.
17:10I don't know what was in that contract, but she was like a nitty.
17:13They ain't quote often on that show.
17:15Yeah, so, you know, it's, so we've got one episode left.
17:18Big finale.
17:19Of Euphoria on Sunday, the 31st.
17:22Mm-hmm.
17:22And then there's another HBO series finale happening on Thursday, Hacks, season five.
17:29Who watches?
17:29I know Eric and I both watched.
17:31Hacks is so near and dear to my heart.
17:32We could talk for another hour about that show.
17:33I love it so much.
17:34I was lucky enough, thank you HBO, to give me the screener, so I've already seen the episode.
17:38Of course, I cannot give any spoilers.
17:39It airs this Thursday.
17:40But I feel good about the ending, but I'm very interested to see the reactions to the ending.
17:45So I'll leave it in that way.
17:46I have not seen, I'm caught up, but I haven't seen the finale.
17:49But Jean Smart did say that it was sort of shocking.
17:52Mm-hmm.
17:52And that she had to come to terms with how it ends.
17:55So you're like, this is supposed to be a comedy.
17:56Are we getting a Euphoria-style ending for Hacks?
18:00Like, is she gonna get buried alive?
18:02Deborah does not get buried alive and get bitten by a snake.
18:04I'll tell you that much.
18:04But I ain't saying anything else.
18:06So it ain't that, like, it doesn't go down like Euphoria.
18:08But you shall see how everything transpires.
18:10Let's try not to lose the plot like we did on Euphoria.
18:12Yeah, please.
18:13No, Hacks is one thing about Hacks, you'll agree with me, has never lost the plot.
18:16It's been such an outstanding five seasons.
18:18And it's an Emmy darling.
18:19I mean, Jean Smart's won, I think, four Emmys in a row for this.
18:21She's four for four, and she's definitely coming for number five in September for this
18:24final season.
18:24It's just an incredible show.
18:26I recommend it to anyone.
18:27Like, if people just ask about TV recommendations, I always throw Hacks out there because it's
18:30so simple.
18:31It's easy to watch.
18:32It's funny.
18:32It's dramatic.
18:33It's, you know, relatable, especially like us that work in the entertainment industry.
18:36It's really well done.
18:37That's what I was gonna say.
18:38Is it worth going back?
18:39Oh, yeah.
18:39If you're a new viewer, is it worth going back?
18:41Okay.
18:42How many seasons are there about?
18:43This is season five.
18:44Each season has like eight to ten episodes.
18:45Yeah.
18:46It's manageable.
18:46It's not too bad.
18:47It's not too bad.
18:48Episodes are 30, 35 minutes maybe.
18:50Even better.
18:51You're not sitting around for an hour each night wasting your time.
18:53Absolutely.
18:53It'd be a good summer binge, actually.
18:55You know, so what I love about it is that it sort of is a combination of all these,
18:59you know, has-been female comedians.
19:02You know, the Jean Smart character, Deborah Vance, is this Las Vegas comedian.
19:06And it's a little Joan Rivers.
19:07It's a little Ellen DeGeneres.
19:09Very, yes.
19:09You know, it's a little Roseanne Barr even.
19:11Yes, yes.
19:12Trying to take some everybody.
19:13She, you know, puts her foot in her mouth all the time.
19:15She's not, you know, the perfect celebrity.
19:20And so then she gets this career resurgence when she brings on a younger millennial, you
19:25know, woke, or even Gen Z, woke writer.
19:28And it gives her this, like, new perspective on her career.
19:31And it's so funny.
19:33It's so entertaining.
19:34So well done.
19:34And, you know, fans of the show, I think, were sort of shipping the two main characters,
19:39even though the age difference and one is by-
19:42I was not.
19:42Sorry.
19:43You were not?
19:43No, I was not.
19:44I was worried that they were gonna dig too deep into that.
19:47And I just feel like the show is a love story, but about their friendship and their dynamic.
19:51Absolutely.
19:51And the polar opposite, you know, generations and the way they see the world differently,
19:55which is also, I think, you know, something that people can take from watching the show
19:58is, like, different people in your life see the world in different ways, but they come
20:02to a great understanding, and I think that's why it's so well done.
20:05But I did not want them to get into a romantic thing.
20:07It's a love story about their friendship.
20:09And it's a mother-daughter sort of, but it's a friendship.
20:11That's what I really love about it.
20:12I like the friendship angle.
20:13I'm in now.
20:14I mean, you guys are so about us.
20:14And they come to such different walks of life, and they see the world so differently.
20:18But I didn't want them sleeping together.
20:19No, exactly.
20:20I didn't want that.
20:20But I think the writers gave us a little fun for that one because they pretended to be
20:27a lesbian couple in order to get something out of a famous, you know, gay character on
20:32the show.
20:33So they go to this Montecito mansion for, like, a couple's weekend.
20:37And the other couple is played by Cherry Jones and Leslie Bibb from The White Lotus.
20:43And it is the funniest episode.
20:45By far the best episode.
20:46I think the whole series.
20:47I think that episode's going to win.
20:49I agree.
20:49Best directing, best writing.
20:50It's so funny.
20:51And it also, it made me think, do the writers know something about Ellen and Portia?
20:56Oh.
20:56Like, there's something there that, you know, this sort of, they're very, they're like
21:00an open relationship.
21:01A lot of wine is being drunk, you know, at their, you know, Montecito mansion.
21:04It was so satisfying to see the main characters pretend to be in a couple.
21:08It was cheeky of the writers to kind of give a shout out to, like, you guys have been
21:11saying this, like, we're going to do kind of a make-believe situation of them in this scenario.
21:15And it was so funny to watch.
21:16And it's by far, I agree with you, the best episode of the season.
21:19Up there with one of the best of the series.
21:21And it's so well done.
21:22It all wraps up on Thursday.
21:23And then Euphoria wraps up on Sunday.
21:25And then I guess we're all going to cancel our HBO.
21:29Wait, no, no, no, no, no.
21:30The Gilded Age is coming back.
21:31Oh, okay, that's not right.
21:33So then we have something to talk about this summer.
21:34Which I will happily talk about.
21:36Okay.
21:37Sounds great.
21:37Yeah.
21:38All right.
21:38Well, thanks for watching AppSession.
21:40Bye.
