00:03As our planet continues to get warmer, we've been warned of the catastrophic effects that
00:08will have on Earth's ecosystems. However, now some physicists say, if things go too far,
00:13our home could be forced into what is called a hothouse Earth, one we might not be able to
00:17return from. We all know that man-made global warming is an issue, one that has gotten so bad,
00:22some scientists say we've entered a new planetary period called the Anthropocene,
00:26one marked by humans changing just about every aspect of the planet. The researchers who
00:31recently published this new study say, by tracking phase transitions of solids to liquids and liquids
00:35to gas around the planet, and by utilizing a superconductivity model, they say you can fairly
00:40accurately predict possible climate outcomes as well. And while some of them are bad but not
00:44apocalyptic, their more extreme predictions show a planet experiencing utter chaos. That includes even
00:50more extreme weather events, vast fluctuations of seasonal temperatures, etc. But even worse,
00:55it includes outcomes that are so chaotic, they can't even make predictions as to what would happen,
01:00and we would likely never be able to correct the damage. The researchers say this eventuality
01:04isn't guaranteed, but if we want to avoid the worst outcomes, we need to start working on ways to
01:09mitigate climate change before it's too late.
