00:00In the trailer when you stop him getting the snacks.
00:02Yeah.
00:02That's an imperial move.
00:05How could you deny Grogu those snacks?
00:07They're my snacks.
00:09He's supposed to ask and say, please.
00:11I'm with you.
00:13We are the cast and filmmakers of The Mandalorian and Grogu.
00:17And we're here to debunk your wildest fan theories
00:20on the internet.
00:22Maybe there should be some spoilers, so spoiler alert.
00:24Spoiler alert.
00:25I truly believe this is going to be more of a coming of age
00:28story for Grogu and kind of stepping more into his Mandalorian role.
00:32A lot of this is going to be following Grogu and trying to get Din back.
00:36Because what I'm kind of picking up from the trailer is that the Hutts capture him.
00:40And then Din's also fighting for his life within the Hutt realm.
00:43And then Grogu is off somewhere because he escaped when Din got captured.
00:46And now he has to kind of fight his way back through the galaxy to rescue his dad.
00:50I know he can't talk yet, so I don't think he can do the creed for the helmet quite yet.
00:54Maybe like a pauldron or maybe he gets a lightsaber or something
00:57that's kind of like the Darksaber-esque if we're going to go this Mandalorian Jedi round.
01:01Maybe we'll see if I'm right.
01:02Kyber Chrissy has done a lot of homework.
01:04A lot of homework.
01:05There's a lot of story ideas there.
01:07Clearly she's been paying attention to what we've been doing all this time.
01:10And she is bringing up a lot of things that are discussed in the writer's room.
01:15I was about to say she's going to be in one of the writer's room very soon.
01:19That's the thing with Star Wars fans are a lot of smart people out there.
01:24Locked in.
01:24When they know it, they're paying close attention to stuff.
01:27You call it like the super computer.
01:28They find everything.
01:30Someone asked me the day, can you give me any spoilers?
01:32I'm like, no, because I don't want to take away from the search.
01:35I don't know.
01:35They're going to find it.
01:36They revel in finding it.
01:37Every little thing, every little data point.
01:40But all those are very thoughtful, I have to say.
01:42Those were not left field ideas.
01:44That's why they ask about Star Wars fans and what makes them so special is that attention
01:47to detail is really fascinating and it keeps the stories going.
01:51We haven't answered it.
01:52That's good though.
01:53We've debunked zero.
01:55We avoided all of your theories.
01:58What if at the very end or in a post credit scene, we do get that long awaited glimpse into
02:08Grogu's future?
02:09An adult Grogu reveal, perhaps?
02:12We are currently watching Paradise.
02:14I think the way Dan Fogelman handles flashback and flash forward is something that Jon Favreau
02:20and Dave Filoni-
02:20There we are.
02:21Look at this.
02:22And she'll explore.
02:23Bigger hat.
02:23We've come a long way.
02:24Your hat change.
02:25That's it.
02:26But the whole baby's in trouble.
02:27Mando saves baby thing is going to get boring real soon.
02:31Uh-oh.
02:31For the lore, you did not make the writer's room.
02:35There are things that for the lore have brought up that we have actually thought about.
02:39He's not that-
02:40If Grogu ever gets that old, I'll be long dead.
02:43But they're seeing a flash forward that you would get a glimpse of the future.
02:47For the lore is also thinking about narrative techniques also to create complexity that
02:54maybe a movie might offer to-
02:57So he's not just guessing about things that are going to happen.
02:59He's also guessing at how we might-
03:00Style.
03:01Style.
03:01Style of the story.
03:02Interesting.
03:03And also post credit scenes talking about, which is an interesting concept,
03:05which wasn't really a part of Star Wars until-
03:08Was that in Solo?
03:09Was that a post credit scene with-
03:10With the Maul.
03:11With Maul.
03:12That was part of the body of the film?
03:13I forget.
03:14I think it was like a mid, wasn't it?
03:15It was a mid.
03:16Yeah.
03:16What's a mid?
03:17I can't remember anymore.
03:18I guess it's a post credit scene, but-
03:19I don't know.
03:20Okay.
03:20Yeah.
03:21Next up-
03:21Popcorn After Dark.
03:23Perhaps Mando and Grogu find Captain Palaeon and they take him to the New Republic,
03:27and this leads them to discover that Thrawn has returned.
03:31And perhaps the whole gang is back together, right?
03:33Sabine, Ahsoka, Hera, Ezra, Zeb, all of them together fighting with the New Republic and
03:38alongside Mando.
03:40Well, Popcorn After Dark is talking about characters I really enjoy, so I'm a big fan
03:45right now.
03:46You won somebody over Popcorn After Dark.
03:48She's bringing on, you know, those characters, which you and I talked about quite a bit.
03:53It's all happening in the same time.
03:55I love how they think things through and the possible connections.
03:59But it's not always about character crossovers.
04:01I'll say that.
04:02It's about the characters and what they're experiencing.
04:05And we brought Ahsoka in to the Mandalorian originally because she would be a great
04:10character to explain Grogu a bit more about his history.
04:13So when we find the right reason to have characters intersect, we definitely do it.
04:18I like Popcorn After Dark's imagery and thinking there.
04:21So yeah, big fan.
04:24All right.
04:24What else we got?
04:25Spider-Man.
04:26Spider-Nathan.
04:27Spider-Nathan.
04:27What was the reason for this to be some sort of big special event, not just episode?
04:32If Grogu says his first word, I think that that's special enough to make this a movie event.
04:37Does Grogu say his first word?
04:39Here's the problem with this concept with Star Wars.
04:42It's assuming that we're going to just spill the beans on it.
04:45Right, which is never going to happen, Spider-Nathan 7.
04:47We're never going to say, and it's this, or yes, it does, or no, it doesn't.
04:51I mean, that's just not a thing we do.
04:53Spider-Nathan 07, you are still thinking like a writer though.
04:56And that is very impressive.
04:58Whether it happens or not, it's a great idea.
05:00Can we maybe freeze on a frame and maybe read some of the things that we, that he was guessing?
05:05Because there's a bingo card.
05:07Podracer.
05:07Podracer.
05:08Zero the Hut.
05:09Oh, Zero the Hut.
05:10Angry Grogu.
05:11These are deep cuts.
05:12Is that a brother or sister?
05:14Is that our Grogu?
05:15Zero, our Grogu.
05:16Yeah, they're saying angry.
05:17He gets a little mad, isn't he?
05:18You don't let him eat any of those snacks on the table.
05:23Oh, so now he's in therapy, isn't he?
05:26I think there's more to it.
05:27Well, this guy's been giving a lot of thought.
05:29A lot of me, yeah.
05:29He's got the chart.
05:30All right, let's see what else we got.
05:31He eats a lot in this film.
05:33Too much.
05:34Twin suns.
05:35These are all very Star Wars-y handles.
05:37I think that Din is going to have his helmet off for a little less than half of this movie.
05:42Just by the nature of Pedro Pascal being in this movie, it is going to draw in a good handful
05:46of
05:47people that maybe would not have watched this film otherwise, but are a huge fan of him.
05:51What I hope is going to happen is that Ezra is going to show up.
05:54It is possible but unlikely that Din Djarin does not make it out of this movie.
05:59And Grogu chooses to embrace both sides of himself and some forced user comes and takes him.
06:06They love to kill me.
06:07I know.
06:08They really love to kill me.
06:08They just said how much people want to see you and now she's going to kill you.
06:11They kill me off.
06:13I do die a lot.
06:14I like to die.
06:15In movies.
06:16Can I point something out that we were noticing on the shelf behind her?
06:19Yeah, twin suns.
06:19This is a very deep cut for twin suns and I actually have that same piece of merch.
06:24This is a character, a species that Dave came up with.
06:27Right behind me.
06:28There it is.
06:29There's our guy.
06:30I have one of those.
06:31Would you like to tell them what?
06:32That is the puffer pig.
06:33Puffer pig.
06:34When they get scared, they float.
06:37And when you squeeze that, it makes a flatulent sound.
06:39They blow up like a giant puffer fish.
06:42Twin suns.
06:43Obviously we're all looking for Rebels connections.
06:45So next.
06:47I think there's a possibility that we could have a flood of different characters from the show.
06:53Boba Fett makes the most sense considering what happened at the end of season two.
06:57The book of Boba Fett.
06:59But I don't think that this building of the Avengers is going to really happen until we
07:04get to the Dave Filoni phone.
07:06So.
07:07There's always the instinct to connect dots a lot and to have a lot of crossovers and to
07:14bring a lot of different characters in.
07:15That wasn't what we set out to do in this project.
07:19And the stories do cross because these characters do exist in the same world.
07:24But we really try not to rely on people knowing everything that's happened up to this point
07:28to enjoy the story.
07:29The thing that has captured everyone's hearts is the human relationship between these two
07:34characters.
07:34A creature with huge ears and this person.
07:38I have big ear envy.
07:40I really do.
07:41There's a very human relationship between these two characters that everyone can relate to.
07:46Mando is going through something very existential.
07:50He knows he will be outlived by his child and wants to do everything that he can knowing
07:56that Grogu will be safe.
07:58And there's no real way of doing that.
07:59There's no way of doing that for any of us, for the people that we love.
08:03And there's a very interesting way that Din will learn that he needs Grogu as much as Grogu needs him.
08:13In my opinion, maybe more.
08:15I love that.
08:16This is an adventure that we would be able to invite new fans in to see and not worry about
08:22them having to understand all the intricacies that these.
08:25Now, of course, for the people like pop culture, cult one, we do lay a lot of stuff in there.
08:31And it does have implications on a larger scale.
08:33Yes.
08:34And this audience is very perceptive.
08:36This is all that is being assumed just from looking at marketing material.
08:39I'm so curious actually to see what they put together after they actually see the film.
08:44Oh, yeah.
08:44And see where we're going with all of it.
08:46Because they are very tuned in on everything and understand completely the context.
08:50I remember seeing the first Bond movie and I hadn't seen any of the ones before.
08:54The first one I saw in the movie theater and what a thrill ride that was.
08:58Yes, yes.
08:58And, you know, I, of course, later get to, you know, acquire all the context on legacy
09:05that came before the first one I saw, but I still got on a ride.
09:09You know, it makes me think of that.
09:11Do you remember which one it was?
09:13I don't want to say.
09:14Okay, fair enough.
09:15I was a Roger Moore generation though, I'll tell you that.
09:16Well, yeah, exactly.
09:17So you know which one I'm talking about.
09:18Spry Loves Me, Moonraker.
09:19I love Moonraker.
09:21Love that.
09:21I had the collectible.
09:22No, but Bond is something we talk about a lot because structurally following a hero
09:27like the Mandalorian is a similar archetype to James Bond, especially now working with
09:31Colonel Ward, working for the New Republic, that there is a larger cause, but you're also
09:35somebody who colors outside the line.
09:37So Bond is something we actually talk about quite a bit, but we're better.
09:41It would be an interesting twist if Ripley's character is a spy for the Imperial remnant.
09:48Quite a crossover.
09:49They are suspecting that Colonel Ward is possibly a villain.
09:55Yes, if they don't know my name, maybe.
09:57Of course, of course, of course.
09:58Well, it's an interesting question.
10:01You know, politics is difficult and creating a new republic is difficult.
10:08This is a difficult job that she has, and I think she's been in the service a long time.
10:13So I guess it's possible, but unlikely, that this woman who came up during the rebellion
10:19and is an X-wing fighter pilot would spend one second entertaining the idea of spying for the
10:27evil empire.
10:28I decide today, now, no.
10:32I think they're suspect because in the trailer, when you stop him getting the snacks,
10:36Yeah.
10:37And they think that's an imperial move.
10:40Only sort of the empire would stop him getting the snacks.
10:43Interesting.
10:44How could you deny Grogu those snacks?
10:45They're reading a lot into that moment.
10:47He's supposed to ask and say, please.
10:50I'm with you.
10:50I think she's old school.
10:52And maybe he didn't have dinner yet.
10:53They're my snacks.
10:54They're her snacks.
10:56It's a good point.
10:56And you even say that.
10:58Save some of these for after dinner.
10:59Exactly.
11:00I think it's a good move.
11:01Crawl's coming back.
11:03Crawl is for movies.
11:04So typically the crawl, we've only seen the crawl in Skywalker saga films.
11:10Saga films, yeah.
11:11Solo did not have a crawl.
11:13Rogue One.
11:13Rogue One did not have a crawl.
11:15They'll have a preface, like a little thing.
11:15Like we did a blurb that explains some context.
11:18Ahsoka has a version of a crawl, but we put it in red and it's strictly vertical.
11:23It doesn't go back.
11:23So we find different ways to do it.
11:26To me, it's about capturing the serial vibe and like giving a little context.
11:29But the classic Star Wars crawl is something that we try to reserve only for like saga
11:34type films.
11:35The crawl itself from the original film.
11:37I remember being a kid and seeing it with that perspective.
11:41It was analog, of course.
11:42The flash cord.
11:42It was on a roller.
11:43And just the diminishing point of the crawl, that whole first opening sequence,
11:47it feels like anecdotally, I understand was added later.
11:52That wasn't even the way it was originally designed.
11:53Originally, originally.
11:54Such an iconic opening.
11:55We save it for the saga.
11:57This is a very extended segment of basically not answering any of these questions.
12:02But we're adding context, I would argue.
12:04That's true.
12:05Thanks for all your theories.
12:07I don't know why I'm being so hostile.
12:08Maybe it's good.
12:09Maybe we don't know.
12:09Maybe we don't know.
12:10Thank you for all of your theories.
