00:32Congratulations. As you mentioned, this was your first clay core match. What were the biggest unknowns coming into this match?
00:42Well, I'd say, obviously, I've never played her before, so that's already won. But I tried to not really overthink
00:48anything. I was super excited to be here, to be fit to play, honestly.
00:53And that was the only thing I really thought about, is what a great opportunity. And I've been really eager
00:59to get out there and compete.
01:01I thought maybe Madrid still wasn't ready and then was trying to push for Rome, and it was just too
01:07soon.
01:07So, yeah, I'm just super relieved that all is good and that I'm ready to play.
01:16Hey Amanda, congratulations. You mentioned on court that you used your time off to work on things you wanted to
01:22work on. So, can you elaborate on what are those things?
01:25And also, you made a coaching change. So, what were you looking in a new coach? Why did this change
01:30happen? And what are you working on?
01:33Yeah, no, it's nothing too complicated to keep working on my forehand and my serve. And obviously, it was my
01:39left wrist, so it didn't make that very difficult for me to keep training and to keep working on those
01:44things.
01:45But really, nothing complicated. It was just getting the reps in, getting enough trainings in, because we normally don't even
01:51get much of a preseason.
01:54So, I just tried to use that time for that, just to stay ready, and whenever I'm ready to play
02:00again, that I'd be ready to compete and play matches.
02:02So, yeah, it's definitely been quite a progression, and I'm really happy with the way things are going with Sebastian.
02:09And, yeah, I'm excited to see how this year goes in the future.
02:13Hi Amanda, congrats for the win today.
02:16Well, talking about the wrist, has it fully healed, or how do you feel today on the court?
02:20And we are seeing so many wrist injuries.
02:23I'm just curious if you guys are starting to talk with each other about how each of you are dealing
02:29with it.
02:30Is it a coincidence? Is there something else going on?
02:32I mean, is there a talk about that in the locker?
02:36Not necessarily. I mean, yeah, some of us have wrist injuries.
02:39Others have knee or hip problems.
02:41I mean, I think it's just a part of tennis, and you're going to get hurt eventually, unfortunately.
02:46I always have to deal with something, and some things are more serious than others.
02:51But, yeah, in terms of resources or doctors, I mean, the girls are always super helpful,
02:57and we kind of talk about that, and we check in on how everyone's feeling.
03:01So, it's really nice in the locker room.
03:03But, yeah, everyone's got something going on, and, yeah, I'm glad it's feeling better,
03:09and it was nothing too serious.
03:11You didn't even think about not playing here.
03:13I mean, it was sufficiently healed already by the time Ruan Garros was coming around,
03:16or was it a touchy decision?
03:19Okay, am I coming just for one this tournament?
03:22No, I mean, I've been trying to see it week by week how it's feeling,
03:27and whenever I felt like I got enough matches, practice matches with girls
03:33and got enough trainings in where it's, okay, I'm ready to play a Grand Slam
03:36or ready to play a full tournament.
03:37But, otherwise, if I didn't have that progression of, you know, playing sets and...
03:49Just got 18 messages from this guy over here.
03:55No, sorry.
03:56But, yeah, for me, it's tough because, of course, I want to play this tournament so badly,
04:01but at the same time, I think none of us really want to risk something getting worse
04:05and causing us to be out for the whole year,
04:08and I'm seeing that a lot of players are getting more smart and mindful about staying healthy
04:13and using preventative measures.
04:16But, in my case, I was ready, and I did all the prep work to be here
04:21and hopefully last the full two weeks.
04:25All right, congrats.
04:27In the past and with other generations,
04:30it seemed like the friendships amongst players weren't that easy.
04:34It seems now that your generation, and I'm from Germany,
04:38we have Eva Loess, she's quite popular, has many friends on tour.
04:42Yeah, I talked to her before the match.
04:43I just would like to know from your point of view,
04:45how easy is it or is it a new generation that gets along really well in private,
04:50but when they only step on court, it's clear you're rivals and that this works somehow?
04:56Yeah, I'd say it's very Gen Z of us.
04:59I feel like we honestly don't take things too seriously, which is a great thing.
05:05And, yeah, I honestly, I love it, and I really like to see the shift that I've seen
05:10because obviously I've been on tour for a really long time,
05:13and when I first came on at 16, it was very different, the energy and the atmosphere.
05:19It wasn't as warm or as social, so I've seen a lot of changes and how, yeah,
05:25there's groups of friends, and obviously there's more social girls like Eva,
05:29and she's so nice, and, yeah, she's great to have around.
05:33I love her.
05:34So, yeah, I absolutely love the fact that, you know, we're able to be friendly
05:39and to even hang out off of the court,
05:42and then at the same time, if we have to compete against each other,
05:45then we're able to compartmentalize it.
05:49It's not the end of the world, obviously.
05:51We go out there and we try our best, and we obviously respect one another.
05:56So, yeah, I feel like it's going in the right direction,
05:59and I'm really happy about it.
06:00Thank you.
06:01Thank you.
06:02Thank you.
