00:00At the moment, we take about 50,000 missing persons reports in Australia each year.
00:05About half of those are about missing children.
00:08It's so important to report somebody that's missing.
00:12There's no limit on when you report a person missing.
00:15We don't say wait 24 hours.
00:17We say report as soon as you know so the police can action their efforts to locate your loved one.
00:23And in some ways, it does depend on the circumstances in which that child's gone missing.
00:27There are obviously instances where a child has chosen to go missing and is not returning for whatever reason.
00:37There's a myriad of them not returning to their family.
00:41But of course, there are also circumstances where there's a suspicion that foul play is involved.
00:45And they're probably the circumstances that are hardest for the family to deal with.
00:49Because, again, they've got that challenge of trying to rationalise what they know practically,
00:57or what they suspect practically, and psychologically what their hope is.
01:03We'll be honest.
01:03We'll be honest.
01:16You
