Mayor Zohran Mamdani has decided to skip the Israel Day on Fifth Parade on May 31, becoming the first New York City mayor in 61 years to do so. Every mayor since 1964 had attended the annual Fifth Avenue march. Jewish organizations have sharply criticized the move as an insult to the city's Jewish community, amid record levels of antisemitism in New York City.
