00:00There's a new champion in Liga MX Femenil, you called it, break it down for us.
00:04America is officially the champion of Liga MX Femenil, and I have to say, I called it.
00:10I knew this was going to happen since the last championship, the final game against Tigres.
00:15And hey, I was right, this is breaking America's streak of getting to four championships and losing them.
00:21So the streak, the losing streak is done, they are officially the champions.
00:24That's right. America proven to be the best team of the competition throughout the whole season.
00:31They were at the top of the standings. They showed the best style of play.
00:36And they showed that at the end of the day, teams with the most money like Tigres and Monterrey and
00:42America, they make a difference.
00:44Although they were big surprises throughout the season, como Juarez with a modest, very modest team.
00:49And they were able to continue to be a pain in the side for most of these big teams.
00:54Alex Crespo, cuéntame, how disappointed you are de nuestras Amazonas, las Tigresas, Tigres de la Universidad,
01:03that they couldn't really pull together a follow-up to their championship last season?
01:07I mean, really, I just don't know what happened because they were doing so well last season.
01:11And then this season, they just were off to a super rocky start.
01:15They weren't able to get that momentum back into it.
01:18We really had hope.
01:20They made it into the playoffs and everything.
01:22And then, yeah, yeah, but I'm surprised that, you know, Kami from the get-go has been saying that America
01:29is going to win.
01:29And they did.
01:30We did have a little bit of a scare in that first game with them losing 1-0.
01:34But then ultimately they said, aquí estamos, 3-0, boom.
01:39El Norte continues to be a reference for Mexican football.
01:44Monterrey was the second place in the competition, showing que la Sultana del Norte continues to be one of the
01:51strongest plazas for Mexican soccer in the women's side.
01:54Camila, also there were some impressive numbers behind the final, proving the popularity of women's football in Mexico.
02:02Break down for us what happened, how many people watched this final, and why does it matter?
02:07Absolutely. Just in the stadium alone, over 26,000 people were in attendance watching the game live.
02:14You know, just watching it from the TV, you could feel the energy from the fans of America in that
02:19last final really making a difference.
02:21And then on Univision, we saw 6.8 million people tuning in to check in.
02:27That's impressive numbers, my friend.
02:29And that's our statement of the continuing growing interest in mujeres and their football, porque la verdad es que they
02:37play really well.
02:38And one thing that I really like to emphasize and tell everybody is that the way they fight for the
02:43ball, the intensity,
02:45and the lack of flopping is something that is worth watching week after week.
02:49For real, they play at a different pace.
02:51I have been watching closely for now two years, and I can say confidently that the girls really know how
02:59to play.
02:59They play for the ball with such a passion that sometimes it's missing in some of the games in the
03:03men's side.
03:05Now, Camila, what is next for Liga de Mekis Feminina?
03:08I know we'll be back here on Latin Nation.
03:10We'll have the Tigres and Juarez home games all season long.
03:14But in the meantime, what is happening on Liga de Mekis?
03:17Yeah, absolutely.
03:18We're seeing a lot more parity within the league, right?
03:20This was, I believe, the third title for America.
03:23This was a big win for them.
03:26Monterrey, unfortunately, you know, they were the favorite, especially going into the second leg.
03:30They won early on, and they're the second most winningest league team in the entire league,
03:35and they just weren't able to perform.
03:36So, in my opinion, what I think we're going to see is some of those mid-table teams really start
03:41to make a push for the top.
03:42You know, we're seeing teams like Tigres, although they barely made it into the playoffs,
03:46just not able to perform in teams like Juarez, on the other hand, really making a name for themselves.
03:50So, what I'm hoping to see is similar to the NWSL, some more parity, some more competition as the league
03:55continues to grow,
03:56and as more money is ultimately being funded for these clubs.
03:59Now, Alex, we've been talking about Liga de Mekis Femenil all year long.
04:04Who are the players that you really, really, you know, like watching this season,
04:09the highlight and the heroes of the Klausura tournament?
04:12I mean, bringing it back to the game, I think we have to talk about players like Irene Guerrero,
04:17Geisse, who were able to score in this game and, you know, ultimately come out with a win.
04:21I think that they were very fun to watch throughout the season,
04:25but I also like players like Charlene Corral, who were just, you know, she was popping off.
04:31And that's the thing about Liga de Mekis Femenil is that we, I mean, I think like society isn't expecting
04:37the level to be there,
04:39but these goals are crazy and people are finally, you know, tuning in.
04:44And we're going to see a lot of growth in this league.
04:47That is right.
04:47Camila, before we go, it's almost time to go on a break.
04:50Who was your MVP of the tournament?
04:53This is a really hard question for me.
04:55I think it has to be Scarlett Cambero.
04:58She put the final penalty in for America, really sealing the deal.
05:02And I think for me, that's the MVP.
05:04A lot of pressure on her in that moment, right?
05:06Because it still would have been 2-1 in the global score,
05:08but she put that last goal in and made her team ultimately the champion.
