00:00Are you attending your son's wedding this weekend, by the way?
00:04He'd like me to go, but it's going to be just a small little private affair,
00:08and I'm going to try and make it. I'm in the midst.
00:12I said, you know, this is not good timing for me.
00:15I have a thing called Iran and other things.
00:18That's one I can't win on.
00:20If I do attend, I get killed.
00:23If I don't attend, I get killed.
00:24By the fake news, of course, I'm talking about.
00:27No, but he's got a very person who I've known for a long time,
00:33and hopefully they're going to have a great marriage.
00:35Mr. President, actually, to add to that, I just actually passed by it on my way here.
00:40I saw the pink flags, and there's just geese that are there all the time.
00:44So that's perfect. How long will that take?
00:46And also, I have to say, I have to pass along something for my mother.
00:48She drove in with me.
00:50She was amazed by all the people she was seeing on the streets here in D.C.
00:54She doesn't get in here as much.
00:55But she was noticing how clean and beautiful it was.
00:58So I'm passing it along.
00:59The President's right. Well, that's who I do. Clean.
01:01Take a look outside. We had a broken path.
01:06It was so terrible coming into the White House.
01:08It was slate. Slate's a roofing material.
01:11It's not a walking material.
01:12But the slate was all broken and chipped and terrible.
01:15And I put down a new granite floor and paid for it myself, by the way.
01:19But I put down a nice new granite floor. It looks beautiful.
01:22It's actually getting rave reviews. It's beautiful.
01:24It's terrible having people walking up to the White House
01:27and they're walking over broken tiles and broken floors.
01:30So now we just finished it.
01:33It's going to be finished when the moldings are put on.
01:35But we just, you might take a look at it.
01:37I don't know if you've seen it, but it's beautiful.
01:38Oh, I thought it was very beautiful.
01:39Of other things we're doing while you're at it, we've fixed.
01:43We have 31 fountains in Washington.
01:48Of the 31, not one worked.
01:51Now we have 21 working and the others are going to be fixed.
01:54And people are calling and saying,
01:56it's amazing what's happened, the fountains.
01:58And they're working top level.
02:00And my most exciting is the reflecting pool
02:03between the Washington Monument
02:05and the Washington Monument Lincoln Memorial.
02:11It's 2,500 feet long by almost 200 feet wide.
02:16It's a massive structure if you think of it.
02:18It's taller than the tallest building in the world.
02:21If you sat the building down,
02:23the tallest building in the world would not reach the end of it.
02:26It's a very big thing.
02:28It hasn't worked properly since it was built in 1922.
02:32President Obama and Biden spent hundreds of millions of dollars
02:36trying to fix it.
02:37Of course they couldn't do that.
02:39They didn't fix it.
02:40It was a mess.
02:40So mostly they turned it off, collecting garbage.
02:44It looked horrible.
02:45And we are very close to getting it finished.
02:48And when it's finished, it'll be beautiful.
02:49It'll be blue water, dark blue.
02:52We call it American flag blue
02:54because that's the name of the color that we chose.
02:57American flag blue, can't do better than that.
03:00It's a rich, dark blue.
03:02And it'll be, I think, very reflective.
03:06Very, very good.
03:07Big project.
03:09I decided to do a much bigger job.
03:11I was going to just get it open.
03:13But I said, let's do it right.
03:14Let's get it open and let's have it be good.
03:16Because President Obama, President Biden spent hundreds of millions of dollars.
03:22Much more than a hundred million, but hundreds of millions.
03:24It never worked.
03:25In fact, when they finished it, it was much worse than it was before.
03:30It leaked at a higher level.
03:32They would have to fill it up every single day with water.
03:35The whole thing was ridiculous.
03:36And so they ended up turning it off.
03:38And it became like a garbage dump.
03:41Well, it's pretty close to finished.
03:44So they were going to, they had estimates of $350 million to fix it.
03:49I'll be doing it for a tiny fraction of that.
03:54A bigger job than I have.
03:55I originally thought I'd do it for two or three million dollars, just do a base.
03:59But now we're fixing up the exterior of it.
04:01We're doing it.
04:02So we'll probably be in there for less than $20 million.
04:05And the estimate was going to be using a different method, $350.
04:10It was going to take four years, $350 million.
04:16I'll be doing it in basically a couple of months for less than $20 million.
04:22That includes all of the exterior base, which I never included in my original numbers.
04:27When I went there last week, I saw the exterior was in very bad shape, as well as the interior.
04:33So I said, we're going to fix that too.
04:34The stone, it's going to be beautiful.
04:37When that's done, you might see it.
04:38It's probably three quarters done.
04:41We have rain delays.
04:42We get a lot of delays.
04:43But that will be, that will be something special.
04:47The reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln and Washington monuments.
04:53I think it's going to be incredible.
04:55It's largely done.
04:57If you want to go see it, you can see it before we put the water in.
04:59We'll, the key is to have it done before July 4th.
05:03We want to see if we can have it done before July 4th.
05:05But we have about 20 or 21 of the water features in Washington Open.
05:13And I can say, top of the line, they are, they look better than they did the day they were
05:19built.
05:19Some of them have been closed for 25, 30 years.
05:22There's been no water for 25 or 30 years.
05:25And they're really beautiful.
05:27Some of the fountains are as beautiful as I've ever seen.
05:30And you probably see them.
05:32And in addition to that, you brought up something.
05:35Washington, D.C. is now a safe city.
05:38We had a city that was one of the most unsafe cities anywhere in the country.
05:44And now it's considered a very safe city.
05:46Restaurants are opening.
05:48Restaurants were closing.
05:49You couldn't, you couldn't go to a restaurant.
05:51The restaurants were closing all over because of the danger from, during the Biden administration.
05:58Now you have restaurants opening.
06:00It's thriving.
06:01And it was very nice that you said that.
06:02I like this reporter.
06:06No, it's nice.
06:07It's, we have a vibrant city again.
06:09People are going out.
06:10I have a lot of people in the White House.
06:12Every time I see somebody, they thank me.
06:14And I know immediately what?
06:15They thank me for making the city safe.
06:17They walk to work now.
06:19Before that, they would, they'd take Uber or something.
06:22And they were, they felt unsafe even in Uber.
06:25You know, we moved over 5,000 people out of the city.
06:29Career criminals that came in through the open borders and other reasons.
06:33And we moved over 5,000.
06:35And an interesting statistic is that 2% of the population creates 91% of the crime.
06:46And the reason I like that is that you can handle 2% of the population.
06:50Mr. Kroger, I see you.
06:51Do you have stores in Washington?
06:53You see a big difference?
06:55We do.
06:56Boy, you said the right thing.
06:58That would have been the end of Kroger.
07:01All right.
07:02Okay, we'll do, we'll do one or two more.
07:05Do you think Democrats are genuine in their focus on affordability,
07:09especially after they delivered 40-year high inflation last time they were in power?
07:13And then, or do you think they're using it or focusing on it as a means to try
07:18in win-made terms and begin the impeachment process?
07:20Look, the Democrats had the highest inflation in the history of our country.
07:25Forty-eight years, they say, but the history of our country.
07:28They had the highest inflation that we've ever had.
07:31When I inherited it, I inherited very high prices.
07:36And from day one, they said, affordability.
07:40Affordability is a word.
07:41Because they're good at that.
07:42They're good at words.
07:43But I'm good at words, too.
07:44But they hit me with affordability.
07:46I'd just gotten there.
07:47They hit me with eggs.
07:49We had a news conference on my third day.
07:52And they said, egg prices are through the roof.
07:55I said, I just got here.
07:56Tell me about eggs.
07:57And we got the prices down.
07:59Way down.
08:00Actually lower than it was four years before.
08:02But we've gotten everything.
08:04The thing that we have now, the only thing that's really of great concern, two things.
08:09Beef is coming down.
08:11And the reason is they put restrictions on beef under the Biden administration.
08:15And it takes a while to settle that.
08:18But prices are down.
08:19But the big thing is, of course, energy.
08:22We had the energy way down.
08:24But I had to do a journey to Iran.
08:26I had to say, you know, we just hit the best markets.
08:29By the way, the stock market today is at the highest it's ever been.
08:32And we've had 59 of them.
08:3559 days out of a very short period of time where the stock market hit all-time high.
08:40So we have an all-time high stock market.
08:43We have all-time high job numbers.
08:45We have 401ks just hit the highest number they've ever been.
08:49So many of you have 401ks.
08:51That means you're richer than you've ever been.
08:53And we're doing really well.
08:55But they came up with this word, affordability.
08:59But it's them that caused the problem.
09:02And they used that word, Senator, Senator.
09:05They used that word right from the beginning.
09:07I was in one day, and I heard somebody on television say, affordability.
09:14And I inherited this mess from them.
09:17But we've got it in great shape.
09:19The country is doing well.
09:20We're respected all over the world.
09:22This country is respected.
09:23We're the hottest country.
09:24We were a dead country two years ago.
09:27And now we're the hottest country anywhere in the world.
09:29So I think most of you appreciate that.
09:32Some of you don't.
09:33Yeah, please.
09:34The Pressure is a great pick at Washington Times.
09:36If the Supreme Court doesn't rule in your favor on birthright citizenship,
09:40are there any other avenues that your administration has explored to remedy this?
09:43And did you talk with President Xi about Chinese foreign nationals taking advantage of birth tourism here in this country?
09:53And how do you have that?
09:53Well, that's a great question.
09:54Now, if the Supreme Court hurts our country by ruling against us on birthright citizenship,
10:01that would be just between that and tariffs, what damage they've done, what damage they've done.
10:08Again, they could have said, which they said, do the tariffs a different way.
10:14But they could have said the money taken in, hundreds of billions of dollars, $149 billion we have to pay
10:23back.
10:23Kevin understands that better than anybody.
10:26All they had to do is say, any money taken in, because they agree you could do it a different
10:30way.
10:31Any money, this is a better way, but the other way is a very secure way.
10:36And maybe in many ways, it's a stronger way.
10:38They could have said, any money taken in, thus far, does not have to be paid back.
10:44To, in many cases, the enemy, people that don't like our country.
10:48Well, it was a half a sentence.
10:50The Supreme Court could have saved us $149 billion with a half a sentence.
10:57But they chose not to do that.
10:58But now they have a ruling, which is a much bigger ruling, actually, birthright citizenship.
11:04The cost, forgetting about the fact that it's wrong, the cost of birthright citizenship is barely not affordable by a
11:13country.
11:14It's going to cost hundreds of billions of dollars.
11:18And it's in their hands.
11:19What can I tell you?
11:20It's a common sense ruling.
11:22It's common sense.
11:23It was about, it was exact timing.
11:27And it's about the babies of slaves.
11:30Thank you for that question.
11:32The Press.
11:33Thank you, Mr. President.
11:34So, do you think if Democrats were to take control of Congress again, they would immediately begin the impeachment process?
11:40I think Democrats took control of the Congress.
11:42I think that, and let's say, took control of the country.
11:48I think that this country is finished.
11:50These people are sick.
11:52They suffer from Trump derangement syndrome.
11:54But really, they have bad policy.
11:57They have horrible policy.
11:59They cheat on elections.
12:00They get elected by cheating on elections.
12:02But you would have two states added.
12:05They'll terminate the filibuster immediately.
12:07Republicans should do that.
12:09They'll terminate the filibuster.
12:10You'll have Washington, D.C., and you'll have Puerto Rico as a state, which will be a disaster, which would
12:18be four Senate seats.
12:20Tremendous numbers of electoral college votes.
12:24You will have, you will have the, that's, that's really bad, but you will have the destruction of our country.
12:32They want to go to 21 Supreme Court judges.
12:35That's their perfect number.
12:36They talk about 13, but they want to go to 21, 21 Supreme Court judges.
12:43If they get in power, I think this country would be, may be finished.
12:50If I didn't win the election, I'll say this.
12:53We've become the hottest country anywhere in the world.
12:56We were a dead country two years ago.
12:58If I didn't win this election, we would have been a country that was essentially, would have been, I don't
13:05even know that we would have been a country any longer.
13:07They were destroying our country.
13:09They were letting hundreds of thousands, millions of people pour through our southern border.
13:15Criminals, people from jails, people from mental institutions, drug dealers and drug addicts.
13:23They were sending everybody, countries were sending everybody that they didn't want by the millions, 25 million people.
13:31So, if I didn't win this election, I believe our country would have been finished.
13:35Thank you very much.
