U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff has launched a sharp political attack on former President Donald Trump over the renewed Iran war situation, escalating tensions in American political discourse.

In a strongly worded statement, Ossoff criticized Trump’s handling of foreign policy and the decision to resume or escalate military actions involving Iran, calling it a failure of leadership that has triggered widespread debate in Washington.

The comments have sparked controversy across political circles, with supporters of Trump defending his Iran strategy, while critics argue that the approach risks further escalation in the Middle East.

00:22Hello, Atlanta!
00:37Atlanta, first of all, give it up again for my friend Dr. Jamal Bryan.
00:46Thank you, Pastor.
00:48Thank you, Pastor, for that warm introduction.
00:55Thank you for all you do for the state of Georgia.
00:59And Atlanta, let's hear it again for our next governor, Keisha Lance Bottoms.
01:18Now, I'd like to ask every veteran, every military service member, every military spouse, please
01:25raise your hand if you can and be honored by all of us here today for your service.
01:28Thank you so much for your service to the country.
01:41Now Atlanta, these crowds, they keep growing.
01:46Something is happening in Georgia.
01:51Every backyard, every living room is full.
01:53And crowds like this leave no doubt that Georgia is ready to do our part again to save our
02:00republic.
02:01Are you ready to win Atlanta?
02:10Something is finally waking up.
02:12Do you feel it?
02:15Turn to your neighbor, say, I'm awake.
02:21Say, I'm all in.
02:31Now, many of you are here because you recognize the urgency of opposition to this unprecedented
02:36corruption and incompetence.
02:41And you recognize the stakes of these midterm elections when Georgia's voice will be decisive
02:47once again.
02:51His presidency crumbling.
02:57Donald spent Saturday complaining on the Internet.
03:06Listen to this.
03:08Six hours, 52 posts, the president attacked the pope.
03:15He posted his own face on Mount Rushmore and a made-up Trump Peace Prize.
03:19He announced three times America's back, and he assured an increasingly concerned public he's
03:24in excellent health.
03:31And when not posting, he's been trying to rob us.
03:35Have you seen it?
03:35Ten.
03:37Ten.
03:38Ten.
03:38He sued the U.S. Government he commands for $10 billion.
03:45Ten.
03:45Ten.
03:47Ten.
03:49Ten.
03:52Ten.
03:53Ten.
03:57Ten.
03:59Ten.
04:01Ten.
04:03Ten.
04:04The same men who sacked the Capitol to seize the presidency for Donald Trump, who beat
04:11police officers with flagpoles, built a gallows on the Capitol lawn, and hunted the vice president
04:17to lynch him.
04:19Donald Trump's brown shirts.
04:22He pardoned them, and now he wants you to pay them.
04:35He's trying to put his face on the money, did you see that?
04:42He's building a monument to himself.
04:47But see, Atlanta, he's doing these things now because no one will honor him when he s gone.
05:01Because he's a failed president and a national disgrace.
05:14He promised to bring down prices on day one.
05:17Instead, prices are soaring.
05:19Ground beefs up 25 percent since Trump was sworn in.
05:23Coffee, 40 percent.
05:25The price of gas, 33 percent.
05:27Groceries, rent, health care, and the power bill hit their new all-time highs last month.
05:36And while you pay more for everything, Donald Trump wants your tax dollars for what many
05:43are calling the Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Ballroom.
05:52By the way, by the way, he forced out that Republican congressman, the one who made him release the
05:58Epstein files.
05:59Did you see that?
06:00That is true commitment to the cover-up.
06:07This president promised a golden age.
06:11Instead the economy has lost tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs since he launched the
06:17big illegal tariffs.
06:18And more Americans are falling behind on their credit cards than any time since the Great
06:22Recession.
06:25Inflation is higher than when Trump took office.
06:27Unemployment is higher than when Trump took office.
06:29And consumer sentiment is at its worst in 70 years.
06:35The president promised to fight for the working class and end foreign wars.
06:44Instead he cut your health care to give the rich another tax break.
06:48And last week, yet more Americans were wounded in a war no one voted for and no one can explain.
06:58This war in Iran is the worst foreign policy blunder since Iraq.
07:06And just like the Iraq war, it's a war built on lies.
07:13Let's just update the record.
07:17On day one of the war, day one, the president said it was running ahead of schedule.
07:28On day 10, he said it was very complete.
07:32Day 21, getting very close.
07:35Day 32, leaving very soon.
07:39On day 39, the president of the United States said a whole civilization will die tonight.
07:48And on the next day, day 40, he declared total and complete victory.
07:53Day 67, great progress.
07:55Day 79, the clock is ticking.
07:57Today is day 92.
08:01And on day 92, Iran's ballistic missiles and drones have not been destroyed.
08:07The Strait of Hormuz, which was open before the war, is still closed.
08:11The regime is intact along with its stockpile of highly enriched uranium.
08:16A stockpile Iran only built after President Trump shredded President Obama's Iran deal.
08:22You remember that?
08:28Just weeks into this war, they said they'd need $200 billion to fund it.
08:38Let me put that in perspective for you.
08:40$200 billion would fund a decade, 10 full years of nationwide universal pre-kindergarten.
08:53The America first president who said he would end foreign wars to put America first and focus
09:00on America's working class.
09:02Instead, now he says, quote, it's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, or
09:09Medicare.
09:09Now he says all we can afford is war.
09:14Now he demands we cut cancer and Alzheimer's research to throw even more money at Pete
09:21Hegseff's Pentagon.
09:27While the Financial Times reports, quote, Pete Hegseff's broker looked to buy defense
09:32fund before Iran attack.
09:37Y'all remember they promised to drain the swamp?
09:41Instead, this is the most corrupt administration of all time and everybody knows it.
09:47Everybody knows it.
09:56While Americans pay more and get less, while our insurance premiums skyrocket and hospitals
10:03close down services, while American service members are wounded and killed in action.
10:08The first family is raking in billions of dollars.
10:13Just listen to this.
10:14Last September, the president of Kazakhstan calls Donald Trump and says he wants to grant
10:21tungsten mining rights to an American company.
10:25And the very next month, Eric and Don Jr. get a stake in the American company pursuing the
10:31mining deal.
10:33Six days later, six days after Prince Eric and Prince Don get their stake.
10:41Kazakhstan announces this company will get, quote, the largest known undeveloped tungsten
10:47resource in the world.
10:49A few more weeks go by.
10:52And then the U.S. government, run by their father, sets aside 1.6 billion of your tax dollars
11:01to fund and finance their mining project in Kazakhstan.
11:09All this while you pay more for gas, for groceries, for healthcare.
11:14And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
11:17Billions from foreign princes and oligarchs.
11:22Sweetheart real estate deals all over the world.
11:24Taxpayer funding to Trump-backed companies.
11:27And listen, here's the bottom line.
11:30If you're involved in any of this, next year you'll be raising your right hand and swearing
11:37to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
11:39So help you God in front of the United States Congress.
11:56The Mar-a-Lago mafia has taken American corruption to spectacular new heights.
12:07But corruption in America runs a lot deeper than Donald Trump.
12:14American politics is coin-operated.
12:19Money goes in, favors come out.
12:24And that's why spectacular wealth buys an ever greater share of power over our national affairs,
12:30while the mere citizen is treated with contempt.
12:36Citizens United was the most destructive court decision in modern American history.
12:48It's unleashed a flood of secret money, corporate money, billionaire money on both sides.
12:56Members of Congress live in fear of these super PACs.
13:01And that corruption is why insurance companies get away with denying your claim for a procedure you needed to save
13:08your life.
13:09It's why big tech is still allowed to spy on us and sell our lives to the highest bidder.
13:14It's why the ultra-rich get another tax break while you pay more for everything.
13:21Donald Trump's rise is a symptom of this deeper disease.
13:28And I suspect many of you are here because you recognize that our task is not just to contain his
13:35wickedness,
13:36but to cure the rot that gave rise to it.
13:50That this broken moment is an opening not for restoration, but for reformation.
14:00Because who really supports allowing unlimited secret political money to bend the national agenda in darkness?
14:09In East Point or Valdosta or Brunswick or Columbus, if I ask anyone, Democrat, Independent, Republican, Independent, none of the
14:16above,
14:19if I ask them whether this is how things should work,
14:23it doesn't matter who they are, the answer is a resounding no.
14:28And if it takes a constitutional amendment to end Citizens United,
14:32we'll deliver a united Georgia to ratify it.
14:56Now, speaking of corruption, my two opponents.
15:07See, they tried to run Kemp, but he refused.
15:12So we're left with the congressman, who's only a congressman because his daddy was a congressman,
15:16and the coach who's only a coach because his daddy was a coach.
15:25And both already mired in scandal.
15:30The congressman under investigation for paying your tax dollars to his criminal staffer's girlfriend for apparently no work.
15:39While the coach's family got tens of millions of your tax dollars courtesy of Governor Kemp
15:45and then poured cash into the governor's pack to prop up the coach's campaign.
15:52They should have to come out and answer questions about all of it right now.
15:58Right now.
16:04But Atlanta, it doesn't matter which one wins.
16:08They're both corrupt political insiders, and they're both pro-war, pro-tariff, and pro-cutting your healthcare.
16:15They're both Trump puppets, and we'll beat either one of them in November.
16:27And Atlanta,
16:33Atlanta, we will win with a coalition that extends far beyond party lines.
16:38Because this campaign's not just for Democrats.
16:42It's for everyone who sees things spiraling out of our control, who longs for sanity and competence,
16:48and sees the same old politics failing.
16:54Everywhere across our state, people tell me they're desperate for change and desperate for new ideas.
17:02The young couple expecting their first child, who wonder how they'll afford a crib and a stroller,
17:06let alone a first home.
17:08And their health insurance just went up a thousand bucks a month.
17:13The student working through college, who still needs food stamps to make rent,
17:16whose conscience can't stand their tax dollars being used to lock up immigrant children at home,
17:22or to kill innocent children abroad.
17:28The South Georgia farmer whose costs rise and earnings fall each year,
17:34whose kids have left the family farm, who had to wait almost two years for federal aid after the hurricane.
17:41See, Georgians are sick of being ripped off, taken for granted, disrespected.
17:50Because we're told a story that if we work hard and play by the rules, we'll thrive.
17:56That no matter who we are or where we start, the grind will pay off.
18:01But for too many across our state, this story just isn't true.
18:06Groceries, rent, insurance, taxes, the car note, the power bill, the math just does not work.
18:11And it feels like no matter how hard you hustle, you can't get ahead.
18:16The culture wars are exploited to divide us, while our hospitals close,
18:23while hedge funds buy up all the houses in our neighborhood,
18:27while we have to pay $3,000 for an ambulance.
18:31And Georgia is in the midst of a healthcare emergency.
18:37It's an emergency that some of our so-called leaders dress up as normal.
18:42They try to numb us to the suffering they've caused.
18:46They've continued to block Medicaid expansion while Georgia lost 21 hospitals in 20 years.
18:54And then last year, they gutted Medicaid nationally.
18:57Listen to this.
18:59Forty percent of all Georgia kids are covered by Medicaid.
19:04Fifty percent of all Georgia births are covered by Medicaid.
19:11Seventy percent of all Georgia seniors in nursing homes are covered by Medicaid.
19:18Already one labor and delivery unit in Georgia has closed, citing those Medicaid cuts,
19:23with more pain coming for hospitals and clinics and nursing homes.
19:30And then the Affordable Care Act cuts, which have doubled premiums for more than a million Georgians
19:36and caused hundreds of thousands to lose their coverage just in the last few months.
19:41All this when, here in Georgia, we already have the second-highest uninsured rate in the nation,
19:46the third-fewest mental health providers, the fourth-worst newborn weight at birth.
19:54Just wrap your heads around this.
19:56When you're born in the state of Georgia, your life expectancy is shorter than if you were born today in
20:03Lebanon,
20:04a country that's been in a state of intermittent war for decades.
20:09And now consider this.
20:11Our state's economy, just our state's economy, is 40 times larger than Lebanon's national economy.
20:19But they're living longer than us.
20:23The legendary civil rights leader, Marian Wright Edelman, said,
20:26we don't have a money problem.
20:28We have a profound values and priorities problem.
20:40Because, see, this isn't just the way it is or the way it has to be.
20:44All this needless death and suffering and misery is a choice.
20:50Georgia's leaders have chosen to leave Georgians without insurance and without hospitals.
20:57They're down having a stake at the Palm, handing out your tax dollars to their donors
21:03while women hemorrhage in Georgia labor wards because they didn't get prenatal care.
21:11But, Atlanta, when you elect a Medicaid-expanding Governor Bottoms in November,
21:16together we can get Georgians covered with great health care, save our hospitals,
21:21and build and open new ones to serve every county in this state.
21:28So, Atlanta, if you're ready to win, if you're ready to save our state and save our republic,
21:33I want you to take action with me together right now, right here.
21:38Are you ready to do something right now?
21:41Okay, I want you to take out your phones.
21:44Hold them up in the air once you got them.
21:47Take your time.
21:49I want to see those phones in the air. You got them?
21:53Okay, now you're going to open a new text message, okay?
21:56Put those phones back up when the new text message is open.
22:00Y'all still with me?
22:05Okay, you're going to send a message to the following number.
22:08Y'all ready for the number?
22:10Y'all ready for the number?
22:12The number is 5-1-0-1-5.
22:175-1-0-1-5.
22:20One more time.
22:215-1-0-1-5.
22:25Y'all got it?
22:27All right, now what you're texting to that number is the word join.
22:31You're texting join to?
22:345-1-0-1-5.
22:38Okay, when you're done, put those phones back in the air.
22:40Let's see it.
22:42There you go.
22:46You just took action.
22:49You just took action.
22:52And we're going to have to work for the next five months because the whole country is counting on us
22:59again.
22:59There is an awful lot at stake.
23:01If ever a moment called for checks and balances, this is it.
23:05And it's not just the corruption and incompetence.
23:11It's this unmistakable project not to lead us, but to rule us as subjects.
23:20The president who once tried to overturn his own defeat now tries to jail elected leaders of the opposition.
23:26Tries to prosecute Americans who defy or criticize him.
23:32Tries to seize control of elections nationwide.
23:41Freedom is rare.
23:46Stretching back beyond the horizon of recorded history, most humans who have ever lived have lived at the mercy of
23:53lords and masters and kings.
23:57But we're a nation founded on the rejection of kingdom.
24:08We're a nation founded on the radical idea that all human beings have a natural right to liberty.
24:19Dr. King said of our declaration, quote, never before in the history of the world has a sociopolitical document expressed
24:27in such profound, eloquent, and unequivocal language the dignity and
24:32worth of human personality.
24:35And from those founding ideals, despite our sins and through courageous struggle, the flame of American freedom has grown brighter
24:45and bolder and given hope to the whole world.
24:48But in the winds that blow today, that light is flickering.
24:54And of all the freedoms hanging in the balance, none is more precious than the right to vote.
25:11We see the Voting Rights Act eviscerated and then like clockwork, as if they'd been lying in wait 61 years
25:21since the moment the ink dried from President Johnson's pen.
25:26The president's allies set out to remove black elected officials, not by defeating them at the polls, but by manipulating
25:33maps to dilute minority power.
25:35Do you all see it?
25:38The Fulton County raid, the executive order attacking voting, the MAGA loyalists on our state election board.
25:46They've made their plans very clear.
25:51But Georgia Democrats are prepared to answer with a mobilization so massive and a defense of voting rights so fierce
26:00that no plot against the franchise will foil the will of the people.
26:14The President'srhiz plays
26:14There you go!
26:15Vote!
26:17Vote!
26:20Vote!
26:21Vote!
26:21Vote!
26:22Vote!
26:24Vote!
26:24Because Atlanta, how foolish of them to come to the cradle of the civil rights movement
26:30to spread those lies and seize those ballots.
26:35How foolish to launch an attack on voting rights here at the political and spiritual center
26:40of the very black history they seek to erase.
26:46Their attacks only strengthen our resolve.
26:49And if all of us here do what we must do, the sound of feet marching to the polls
26:54this fall will be heard in every corner of our state and all the way up on high
26:59where Congressman Lewis will look down and see a job well done.
27:13We stand here together in Congressman Lewis District.
27:19And I promise you, his spirit is with us in this place right now.
27:29In his final years, resisting the tide of deepening cynicism, he still elevated us.
27:37He reminded us that we all live in one American house and one world house.
27:43He called it the inevitable truth that we are all members of one human family.
27:50One human family.
27:53And I suspect many of you are here today because you're deeply troubled by the pain
27:58so many of our fellow Georgians and fellow Americans and fellow human beings are enduring right now.
28:05The terror of a child watching ice take away his mother.
28:11The despair of a cancer patient losing coverage mid-treatment.
28:18Maybe they don't care in the White House or in the governor's mansion,
28:22but that ache in your heart, that pit in your stomach,
28:26that's what reminds us we're all in this together.
28:31That we're not just one United States, we're one United People.
28:35E pluribus unum.
28:36Out of many, one.
28:45That we're bound together by the same great national spirit that passed civil rights laws,
28:51defeated fascism, and landed men on the moon.
28:54The United States is still destined for greatness.
28:59But only united will we meet the challenges and seize the opportunities of our time
29:04to guarantee great health care for every American.
29:08To unleash an affordable housing boom and save our family farms.
29:12To harness new technologies for the good of the many and not the few.
29:15To make America the world leader on human rights.
29:22And return nations to the path of peaceful coexistence.
29:28And see, this is what small men like Donald Trump and J.D. Vance and Stephen Miller will never understand.
29:35That our national greatness flows not through our blood or our genes, but through our ideas.
29:50Americans are not a race.
29:53We're a people.
29:57United not by ethnicity, but by our shared convictions.
30:01And that is what makes us exceptional in a beacon to the world.
30:11How amazing is it that the most powerful nation on earth proclaims as it core values that all are created
30:19equal.
30:19With inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
30:22No matter how humble our beginnings.
30:24No matter our ancestry.
30:26No matter when we arrived on these shores.
30:29In Atlanta, a wave is building.
30:32The kind of wave that comes once a generation.
30:36When people have been pushed too far and they decide all at once.
30:41All together.
30:43That enough is enough.
30:54So let's give them a united Georgia.
30:59Let's save the country again.
31:03Let's make sure they hear it all the way down at Mar-a-Lago.
31:07That Georgia will bow to no king.
31:13God bless you.
31:14Let's get to work.
31:16Thank you so much.
