00:00I was thinking about the medusa and I actually got diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis
00:07six years ago now and medusa the Greek myth was about getting frozen to stone so ankylosing
00:19spondylitis is also called bamboo spine. I got power from that actually creating the sculpture
00:28and it was even though she's frozen it's actually taking my power back. The four faces of femininity
00:39we carry them all the time but we can get tired and we have emotions and we're allowed to express
00:47them and we are just who we are but it's really just about regaining your strength and healing
00:55that creating the sculptures was such a healing therapeutic time it took me a long time to produce
01:05them. Raising my three boys and spending time with them in the studio these sculptures that I've produced
01:13here have been a huge effort and once I began I couldn't stop and one of my sons chase actually
01:23helped me create the basis of them so it was great to get to know him as well his personality
01:31and then all the sculptures developed their own personalities. Those first three were really
01:39just that female strength I think essentially.
