00:00:00I
00:00:38welcome to our men it's mongolian tradition to offer milk honoring the spirits of ancestors
00:00:46one of the oldest rituals in mongolia tatsal is an offering of gratitude for the spirits of the
00:00:53mountains and sky milk is the symbol of all pure thing now i want to make offering for your journey
00:01:03this will give you blessing oh thank you thank you where would you go north we're going north
00:01:09have a safe and pleasant journey may you reach your destination without any obstacles
00:01:19now is the time to express gratitude for your journey
00:01:28i see a journey i see an opportunity to do things that you've never done before
00:01:35the timing of the race is so perfect one more side because we're gonna come back with so much
00:01:41independence after it's broke good luck everybody over 11 000 kilometers away
00:01:49their adventure began come on the teams weaved a path east
00:01:54through the expanse of eurasia oh my god across eight contrasting countries holy moly in a race
00:02:06defined by extremes it's hot here isn't it it is so cold it's not exactly the orient express
00:02:14i'm not a horse in kyrgyzstan
00:02:18now one final test of endurance awaits to reach the finish line and for the victors a prize of 20
00:02:28000 pounds
00:02:33it's kind of crazy this coming 10 n no second chances no no no it is it you win or
00:02:39you lose
00:02:39i'm feeling very confident i'm seeing an empty book that is that is my whole head yeah yeah yeah
00:02:46i'm competitive at heart and yeah i want to win you have to win some and lose some yeah we
00:02:51haven't won
00:02:52some we haven't won some exactly we haven't been first but we only have to win one leg and that's
00:02:58the last leg i feel like it's between us i think i still wouldn't write off the others a good
00:03:02connection
00:03:03and a bad connection for us and everybody's back in the race again check you made us
00:03:10all four teams have reached the seventh checkpoint joe and cush sit in pole position and after finding a
00:03:18cheap hitchhike mark and margo signed in a day and a half behind while andrew and molly are in second
00:03:24place they hold the advantage of the strongest budget we're 24 hours behind and i want to catch up
00:03:31time i still want to win that's the attitude we've done fourth to first before 20 hours behind you can
00:03:37do third to first for 24 hours behind there's no reason why we can't win this race yes making it
00:03:44to
00:03:44hat dowry is my number one priority have we got enough money mongolia is expensive public transport
00:03:51is minimal we're gonna have to get cheap travel i think we'll do it i like that attitude mark
00:03:56we're gonna do ourselves proud we are yes
00:04:14ready let's do this man 5am departing as race leaders for the second time thank you so much joe and
00:04:21kush bronze this is it this is the last line hat girl let's go
00:04:28to reach the finish line teams face a crucial choice
00:04:33head east via the capital ulan bator following paved roads on a well-connected route of buses
00:04:40taxis and the country's only passenger train line but a detour of over 500 kilometers
00:04:47or strike out north heading off-road across the remote hangai mountains half the distance but
00:04:56twice the risk where public transport disappears and they must depend on locals to make progress
00:05:05the north route's way more direct but more risky it's like off-road poor roads bad transport
00:05:10connections i don't think that's not true karkar into ulan bator seems safer going by the city
00:05:15we've got buses and trains maybe there is a night train to edna if you get to edna by tomorrow
00:05:20morning
00:05:21we are flying pushing out towards ulan bator the boys plan to swing east taking a chance on
00:05:29connections from the capital to mongolia's second largest city air the net
00:05:34check out bro i'm so nervous i'm so hyped the risk is that we're actually going away from
00:05:39checkpoint is that open yes all relies on if we can get transport out of ulan bata in the night
00:05:44could you call a taxi we need to get to ulan bata if that exists we are sorted if not
00:05:51and that could
00:05:52risk everything there are no taxis available now the bus leaves the tar 10 but it's too late
00:05:59we could try and hitchhike let's just go bro getting out carpool is not easy we don't want
00:06:05andrew and molly's cat talk come on please stop hopefully we can get a ride before 10 a.m
00:06:12hello uh could you help us please
00:06:18you yeah can we come we have we have money thank you let's go
00:06:26whoo let's go go whoo swerved the bus we're getting private we're going in style to ulan bata
00:06:35should negotiate a price 80 000 is okay thank you thank you bro 80 000 what a gangsta
00:06:43thank you so much thank you bro we have swerved the bus by two hours and 15 minutes good very
00:06:52good
00:06:53stuff one highway it's daylight smooth everything's gone good bro
00:07:00jesus that's cold that is cold next to make haste for hat gal are we happy with going to
00:07:06tattoo leg first i think that's a good call andrew and molly we've the money to go more directly
00:07:12absolutely why you take the safe auction okay that's the supermarket there hello
00:07:19taxi to test her leg yeah can they collect us from here yeah indeed perfect getting on the road sap
00:07:25we're choosing to go the shorter route you stand there for a minute okay might be trickier but we
00:07:31can throw money at taxis so it's lovely to be able to kind of not panic about it ready oh
00:07:37is he here yeah
00:07:38thank you every moment we move is going to be getting close to the hat gal going past country
00:07:43this is a huge risk what we want to win it and we're gonna fight toot and nail the winner
00:07:48cheers
00:07:49they plan to exploit their healthy budget splashing out on private taxis to propel them north
00:07:55on a more direct route to the checkpoint okay great job yay we're on the way there's the start of
00:08:05the last
00:08:06leg kit scary but exciting i'm assuming the boys have gone to ulan baatar because we suspect they have
00:08:12limited funds yes so they're probably going to try and get a better work yeah it doesn't make sense to
00:08:17me we should just go direct to get a bit of an advantage over the boys yeah 370 kilometers east
00:08:26uh amazing thank you joe and kush have reached ulan baatar oh my god surely not
00:08:34i can't lie i didn't expect to see these guys in mongolia people fans love the word bro can't even
00:08:39name them
00:08:53the world's coldest capital city where winter temperatures can plunge to minus 40. it's home to
00:09:02around 1.7 million people nearly half the country's entire population tightly packed gear districts
00:09:10surround a vibrant modern urban core okay let's find the overnight train to air didn't it what the
00:09:19hell okay that can't be right what what what are you thinking there's no trains we can get like
00:09:29no it's the capital there should be loads of transport i think we should pass this lady
00:09:34hello um air the net times it says seven o'clock tomorrow in the evening we can't get that too
00:09:41late
00:09:42god get a bus bus or autobus no only train ticket you may have made a really bad decision
00:09:53we're just stuck start to get this overwhelming fear that you've done the wrong thing oh we took a
00:10:00much longer route trying to rely on a train however the train hasn't worked out what can we do we
00:10:06could
00:10:06do a job and then find another way to get to edna tomorrow morning yeah if molly and andrew took
00:10:13the
00:10:13more direct route there's a good chance that they're ahead of us oh that's all man cheers thank you
00:10:28right right kid we made it it's a lovely wee home building momentum andrew and molly have pushed
00:10:36into the lead by arriving into tetzer leg down on the guest house here's the room room number three
00:10:44oh thank you so much thank you this is lovely perfect to map out their next move in the morning
00:10:50can we ask you a really important question we need to get to jagaland they are enlisting the help
00:10:56of guest house owner and tour operator murray that's it there that is jargoland okay yeah however
00:11:02that's jargoland yes so is that right jungle means joy okay jargoland is a joyful town right there's
00:11:10many of right okay throughout mongolia it's common for places to share the same name jargoland being
00:11:18especially popular to distinguish the correct location travelers often need to specify the
00:11:24province it's that one that's how it's spelled isn't it yeah oh okay that jargoland that is a
00:11:30remarkable spot and you have a contact there we have a contact there yes okay we need to be there
00:11:36as
00:11:37early as we can tomorrow would you be able to help us book a taxi easiest way is for me
00:11:41just to call
00:11:42the driver i could hug you can i hug you we have located the actual jagaland seems to be quite
00:11:50a few
00:11:50so it was quite nice to work out which one we're exactly going to do you have a budget for
00:11:54this
00:11:54transport you tell us what do you need 175 years that's perfect this could be huge for us we have
00:12:01saved the money i only let him eat crisp sandwiches for six weeks
00:12:06we're getting half of the hassle very pleased all's looking well all's looking upwards and i'm just so happy
00:12:17that was a good choice today happy yeah i'm both while andrew and molly get an early night
00:12:28joe and cush's evening is just getting started
00:12:33that one we need extra money for a long taxi to earn it areas we can in the morning there
00:12:41you are
00:12:43with an average age of just 25 what's your favorite cocktail occasionally enjoy a long island
00:12:49do you want me to try and make you one yes please ulan bator has become the pulse of modern
00:12:54mongolia
00:12:57oh it's been strong you'll survive renowned for its thriving nightlife this part of the city i guess
00:13:03brings by a lot of young people and a lot of english speakers too you guys are lucky because it's
00:13:08so
00:13:08warm in in england it's warm we get a lot of rain it's not as like cold as here because
00:13:12this is like
00:13:13dry cold yeah it stings your throat it stings i swear to god when i hit 35 i'll move to
00:13:19like manchester
00:13:20london or liverpool i heard the food is whack though is that true no like fish and chips and beans
00:13:27banging banging no i tell you it's so nice is this yours oh it feels weird it feels like being
00:13:33back at
00:13:34home before i left i quit working in bars they've come in i've gone right back to pouring a pint
00:13:41in
00:13:41mongolia do they have like a head on the beer yes we do when we go back to liverpool part
00:13:46of me's just
00:13:46reading it because i know that it's going to be like job searching do you want to have one selfie
00:13:51with you guys yeah absolutely i don't want to go back to normal life especially after experiencing
00:13:58something like this every day is different i want to just make the most of life right now nice to
00:14:02meet
00:14:02you still got a long way to go now i still believe we can win
00:14:19watch the ice there 6 55 a.m we could finish first but going through the capital it's not
00:14:26going to win it's it the route has to be a direct chasing andrew and molly the siblings are the
00:14:33second team to take a gamble on a more direct route north to claw back time you need to move
00:14:38quick
00:14:39left or right uh ask these ladies excuse me hello um after voxel
00:14:52this way taxi or avto bus she's calling somewhere
00:15:03uh hello hello hello um yeah we are trying to get to setzel egg just give you one minute i

00:15:48i don't know you what you think it is you want to take this yeah really oh wow yeah that
00:15:53sounds great
00:15:54i can't believe this before we go can we agree on a price 20 000 20 000 all the way
00:16:02to yeah 250
00:16:03kilometers for 20 000. wow that is very very kind i want to help you guys i can't believe one
00:16:10away
00:16:10this is huge for the race everything happens for a reason it does and that reason is
00:16:16we're out numero one mission hat gal is a girl as katie and harrison kickstart their comeback with
00:16:25the lifted tits and leg isn't it isn't it uh-huh boom in ulan bator having ruled out waiting all
00:16:33day
00:16:34for a train my friend let's go fast joe and kush are utilizing the cash they aren't yesterday on a
00:16:42taxi to air dinette no wee bricks no hold it in things have really gone to plan but this route
00:16:50has
00:16:51the security of options even though there were no trains and there was taxis there's also a actual
00:16:56paved road when i really don't know this still might not be enough at least it's been a smooth ride
00:17:07oh my goodness oh this is not our everyday roads 350 kilometers closer to the finish line
00:17:16geez he's getting over the top it's a bit of a bone shake
00:17:22andrew and molly are making strides to jargaland
00:17:27you know it's gonna be a long torturous bouncy job
00:17:30going to see it's understated yeah where are we i can't answer your question we're still in the
00:17:38middle of nowhere
00:17:48we've got nothing to lose if you're gonna get a blaze of glory
00:17:52going a blaze of glory with just nine percent of their budget remaining
00:17:56mark and margot are last to get going budget is horribly tight but we're so far behind the only
00:18:04option we do have is to go as direct as we can absolutely excuse me gentlemen your horses are
00:18:10fabulous can you help us we want to get to tsetse leg betting on a more direct route to get
00:18:17them to
00:18:17hatgal cheaply they're the third team avoiding the capital tsetse leg i came from there did you easy
00:18:24ever since we've got to mongoli we have found it tough but our race is not over and we are
00:18:29so
00:18:30focused on hat gal and getting there try to hitchhike here thank you very much thank you
00:18:35cheers cheers guys let's get our thumbs out and try and hitch perfect
00:18:41it's quite a big distance but it didn't get a lift and you can agree a low figure that way
00:18:45hopefully
00:18:46our budget will last us all the way to hatch gal here's a cow let's go hitch a ride on
00:18:51the cow
00:18:52i think this new headdress goes with my hitchhiking persona do i look like a weirdo
00:18:57yes no you don't know hello hello we're going to set the leg can you give us a lift
00:19:05yeah you give us a lift me and him mark mark he's he's very slow he's quite old come on
00:19:12i'm coming
00:19:13they said yes yes thank you so good of you this is brilliant mark
00:19:18actually excellent yeah i'll give him some money a little bit of money towards petrol yeah
00:19:23this is a result and a half isn't it it's a good start to the leg and it's well within
00:19:29budget
00:19:34okay this is it isn't it and this has been the journey from hell after five hours traversing rocky
00:19:41off-road tracks yeah it's very in the middle of nowhere andrew and molly have arrived in jargaland
00:19:48we're finally here
00:19:52we have a bed for tonight could you make contact with him please
00:20:15where is he i don't understand is he here
00:20:24not this jargaland no this could be bad if we ring murray from last night good idea
00:20:36found out it's the wrong jargaland i'm a bit confused we pointed to the right one i think on
00:20:42the map last night not what we needed in the last run i don't think the mood would be very
00:20:47high if we
00:20:48have to go backwards buddy hello do you know what's happening here sorry we're not really
00:20:54understanding i knew you needed to go to hoof school jargaland not to i'd hang that down
00:20:59how are we in the wrong one you guys pointed to the map that's where we want to go
00:21:04so murray what's the solution in this there's a big canyon a big goal it's between you and
00:21:09wolf school juggler yeah that's not possible my solution is you need to backtrack about half the
00:21:15way that you've come and then continue further further west from there oh no
00:21:24blocking their path a 20 meter deep 100 kilometer long canyon meaning a journey of just 100 kilometers as
00:21:33the crow flies is over 400 kilometers by road from your jargaland to the other jargaland yeah
00:21:42further than you've already driven today i don't think you'll make it today okay it's not safe to go
00:21:48at night time we are really stuck it was always a risk coming this way and then it's turned out
00:21:54to
00:21:54be exactly what it was a risk crushing at the moment but what can you do just have to take
00:22:01it in
00:22:01take it in the chin i'm trying to work out where's a good place to go to to keep going
00:22:08yeah we could
00:22:10go to corgo for a homestay help out on a farm and then move on tomorrow morning yeah we could
00:22:16yeah
00:22:16hello murray where's corgo is that closer yes probably about a four hour drive okay
00:22:25what do you want to do do you want to do that i think so we are in a race
00:22:30we need to keep going
00:22:31yeah unable to reach their intended jargaland today father and daughter plan to stop 160 kilometers
00:22:40short in horrock where they have found a homestay in the jobs directory
00:22:46okay that would be great could he be able to do that for us
00:22:49yep not ideal puts us behind on time what gets us on the move
00:22:58this morning woke up another chance of winning i know
00:23:02finishing would just be a great job
00:23:06you're all right you're all right kid you're all right
00:23:12i love you
00:23:13i love you
00:23:14chloe
00:23:16just watch your dance
00:23:17sorry come on we get in this car and get the corgol
00:23:19let me go
00:23:21i'll never make it
00:23:24hopefully get to this farm stay tonight before it gets dark
00:23:39i'm going to wander down here yeah closing the gap katie and harrison have arrived in tetser lake
00:23:47i've not really wandered around mongolia the thing is if you do more than a five minute walk in mongolia
00:23:52you're suddenly in the middle of nowhere
00:23:58founded in the 17th century the city grew around the monastery built by influential monk and scholar
00:24:04zaya pandita love san prinley through his teachings tibetan buddhism took hold alongside
00:24:12the area's deep-rooted shamanic beliefs i think we need a hard-earned beer
00:24:22with plans to hitch a lift first thing in the morning oh pop katie oh god oh a chance for
00:24:31the
00:24:31siblings to enjoy a familiar pastime it is the strangest place i think i've ever had a beer cheers
00:24:38to us getting taken or winning i'd love to sign that book first i actually can't imagine us not
00:24:46signing the book first i think for me the fact that the house deposit is on the line makes it
00:24:52a bit
00:24:52real better win then it's never been about the 10 grand for me i just want to say i've won
00:24:58it you've
00:24:58just got an ego correct i still think we should win yeah i didn't think we'd win turning up to
00:25:04the
00:25:04race no i thought we were going to get eliminated but now i think we've been the best races cheers
00:25:10to
00:25:10winning maybe is it pma a positive mental attitude as the sun sets mark and margot pull level with katie
00:25:20and harrison in tetzel leg amazing wow we're here hey look there's some strange statue here it's like
00:25:28superwoman i don't think that's a woman after a five-hour taxi joe and kush have made it to irdinet
00:25:42i'm feeling so nervous about this last leg every little mistake you make could cost you
00:25:4820 000 pounds in first place we've been wanting this win so bad and we've done everything for
00:25:53this win and it's like if we do get it it will be so rewarding imagine opening that book and
00:25:59seeing
00:25:59no names for the third time in a row that's a statement if i won 10k raise do you know
00:26:06what i'd do
00:26:07like i'd take my little brothers out they have burger and milkshakes they're getting whatever they
00:26:11want love me ma she's getting the finest pasta i'm dining that lady on the finest food we're renting
00:26:17out the entire restaurant we're taking out the restaurants here then it's getting a house
00:26:21if i could get my mom on the proxy ladder she'll have somewhere where she never ever has to worry
00:26:26about having to move i give me mom some money and then i want to keep traveling i want to
00:26:32go cynical
00:26:33learn where i come from i guess you know i really want to win we've sacrificed so much we've gone
00:26:39through the stress we have come so far it's the last push we've got to put everything into this
00:26:46okay don't think i'll mentally be able to do this without you doing this with me i love you though
00:26:52genuinely i'm hoping this is the last hotel we stay in yes let's have a look at the next move
00:27:01we need to keep as much money as we can we want some free accommodation yes exactly i'm thinking of
00:27:06like
00:27:06a home stay it takes time to get used to mongolia i think the the last leg was a very
00:27:14steep learning
00:27:15curve oh there's a ghost day and that's not too far from horgo free bed for the night i like
00:27:22the idea
00:27:22of this yes i do yes mark and myself have really rolled the dice taking a chance by taking this
00:27:28route
00:27:29if we can hit some of the way we've done it before we can do it again yeah and whatever
00:27:32it takes
00:27:33exactly if we couldn't finish the race i would be devastated but i believe we are good races we've
00:27:40come back after setbacks we've got a little bit of racing left in us there's no turning back no no
00:27:45absolutely no turning back
00:27:59you want them in yeah okay
00:28:05having made it to their homestay in horrock last night they all know where they're going they all know they're
00:28:11going over there
00:28:12andrew and molly are putting in a shift with yak herder inksum yarjab as payment for their bed and board
00:28:28situated in the tariat chulot volcanic field lies the now dormant volcano horrock meaning shelter
00:28:38local legend says noble outlaws used the crater as a secret hideout after ambushing travelers

00:30:01but you know something during this trip molly every call that you've made
00:30:06you have made work yesterday my thought process was how are we going to get out of this and we
00:30:11did
00:30:12just proves to you that you're capable of doing it and the consequence is that we are
00:30:17here here here in this beautiful spot this whole race taught me so much about myself about daddy about
00:30:27our relationship i'm so proud of you i am you've achieved at everything you've done
00:30:33i can be independent i can make decisions but i think this is the first time he's seen me in
00:30:39those
00:30:40kind of moments i'm not expecting you know to be the little child i'm also expecting you to kind of
00:30:46come back with a retort yeah if i'm talking nonsense and i think i also i'm more confident in turning
00:30:52around to you and being a daddy your own i would have held you the wee baby you were
00:30:56so helpless now you're fit for the world i'm so happy to call them at me and say that you're
00:31:04fit for
00:31:04the world i'm so proud of you too you've done so many things the race has proven that the world

00:32:08to shinada then we're out of the race the siblings are aiming for a rural village in the next province

00:33:38all the luck on this leg has been immaculate it is exciting i'm just so happy there is a possibility
00:33:44that we finish first if only every leg went like this to the east an air denet
00:33:54hey brother quick question joe and kush are raring to get back on the move

00:34:18many kilometers
00:34:19400 kilometers in between here's the net and moon okay we need to get there fast do you know how
00:34:27long
00:34:27that would take to drive i don't know okay we need to get out there we just need to keep
00:34:35moving
00:34:40trailing in last place
00:34:43ah that's good
00:34:47mark and margot have made it to horrock
00:34:51yeah next one this is me along here to help preserve what's left of their budget
00:34:56they're trading manual labor for a place to stay you enjoying this mark yeah it's fun

00:35:20so we've got a moment for ourselves let's go and look at the lake it's so beautiful
00:35:26lying to the west of the horrock volcano tigan taga nor meaning the great white lake
00:35:36created after horrock's eruption thousands of years ago black basalt rocks still pepper its shores
00:35:44evidence of the torrents of lava which spewed from its crater blocking the turk river and forming the
00:35:51freshwater lake look at that wow that is impressive i want to throw a big rock into the
00:35:58launch of the ice to see how thick it is i'll throw you in there
00:36:01that is solid absolutely solid wow now we've established that
00:36:14that's beautiful isn't it absolutely incredible this is nature isn't it it's just spectacular
00:36:19this is one of your highlights of the race i think it is yeah and we've had quite a few
00:36:24of
00:36:24those moments haven't we we have and i think it has changed my life i think it has been a
00:36:30profound
00:36:33change in me and the way i'm going to live my life what's been so good is i've not just
00:36:37got to know
00:36:37you it's like you've got to know you and i just got the idea that you know the new you
00:36:44it's not going
00:36:45to be stopping you is it's going to stopping you no i'm planning my future already yeah i've still got
00:36:52years left in me to do things that i want to do and push myself this has made me realize
00:36:59to do things
00:37:00spontaneously and not be anxious or worried about doing those things for me i've realized i'd have
00:37:08to carve out time and space to create a future for myself do you really want you to do that
00:37:15yeah
00:37:17as the race has gone on we really understand each other there's just more space to be ourselves
00:37:25i think our relationship has changed it has it has changed yeah i think we are we are we are
00:37:29better friends i think now yeah both of us have grown and we've seen each other pushing ourselves
00:37:35and we see the true value in each other what do you think julia would say if she could see
00:37:40us oh
00:37:40she'd be very pleased she'd be very very pleased wouldn't she yeah she would she wouldn't be able to
00:37:46believe that her wish had come true in such an incredible way yeah after we lost julia
00:37:53i did grieve and i did feel it deeply but on the race i have moved further on and thinking
00:38:02about julia but
00:38:03in a less emotional way more in a like more of a joyful way that's not forgetting her but it's
00:38:13in a sense
00:38:17it's a letting go it's a letting go
00:38:39over 160 kilometers ahead he's going to take us to jargoland i thought i was done with that word
00:38:46jargoland at least this time we're the right side of the gorge
00:38:49andrew and molly's path north has taken them to the correct jargoland
00:38:53where tracks continue on to hat gal
00:39:00hi hi hi can we book a taxi for tomorrow morning
00:39:05it's getting dark and we have been left off by a taxi man to a family that seems to do
00:39:11taxis
00:39:12at five five in the morning yeah perfect
00:39:17galling to arrive in the place that we should have been yesterday but we're getting a lift
00:39:21hat gal tomorrow where can we get a hotel

00:40:32oh
00:40:55whoa that's a lot of money
00:41:00we only have a very it's a small amount of money but much money yeah we we we have to
00:41:06get
00:41:06we have to only we have only some we have to get all the way to hat gal
00:41:13paying for the pricey taxi would leave the in-laws with just two percent of their budget remaining
00:41:19and still over 200 kilometers to go to reach the finish line
00:41:24that taxi's a bit of a shock absolute budget slayer how many dollars is that we're paying 120
00:41:31but we have to do it we've got to get out of here do you know how much we've got
00:41:35left after the taxis
00:41:36got about eighty dollars left yeah within this country it's not much okay if me mark didn't finish
00:41:45the race i would be really devastated because we've done everything we can
00:41:52we've tried so so hard do you think we can get to the end
00:42:01i don't know
00:42:04being here could cost us the race tax to get out of here is 40 percent of our budget
00:42:10we've still got a few hundred kilometers to go some of it across open wilderness so you
00:42:16yeah we'll just see how it goes uh from tomorrow um how far we can get to hat gal i
00:42:22don't know
00:42:52we'll just see how it goes
00:42:53The sacred lake Hofskoll, ringed by dense taiga forests,
00:42:58roamed by wolves, snow leopards and brown bears.
00:43:03On its southern shore, a single foothold of civilisation.
00:43:08Hatgal and the finish line.
00:43:17Rocking up to the final in this is so cool.
00:43:23This hour is rapid.
00:43:25We're just cutting it down a mountain.
00:43:27Now I feel like I'm racing.
00:43:28Oh my god, this is mint.
00:43:33We are so close outside.
00:43:36Touch wood.
00:43:38Three teams are closing in.
00:43:41Oh my goodness, I'm so excited.
00:43:43Oh my god.
00:43:45I want to be cold so I'm making you warm faster.
00:43:47So I get warm faster.
00:43:49Stealing themselves for the final sprint.
00:43:52This is it.
00:43:53How's it all coming to an end, believe me?
00:43:55How's it all finished, like...
00:44:00I really want to get to Hatgal.
00:44:02I want to sign in that book.
00:44:04So do I.
00:44:06400 kilometres behind.
00:44:08I just really hope we can do it there, Mark.
00:44:11Mark and Margo are racing to the mountain outpost of Shinny Dare.
00:44:16From there, they still have to find a way to Hatgal.
00:44:20Where we're going now is in the middle of nowhere.
00:44:23It's going to be a lucky break to find somebody
00:44:25going in the right direction.
00:44:27But stranger things have happened.
00:44:29We're going to give everything we've got.
00:44:30Who knows?
00:44:30Yeah.
00:44:48Wow.
00:44:49It's just the end of the line.
00:44:5050 days in the making.
00:44:52Eight legs.
00:44:54We've got this.
00:44:55We've got this.
00:44:57Is it a really bad time to say I'm desperate for a wee?
00:45:00Do you not desperate?
00:45:01I am.
00:45:01You're just nervous.
00:45:02I'm ready to go.
00:45:03I've seen some yellow snow on the way.
00:45:07Can't believe we made it.
00:45:08We're here.
00:45:09No matter what, we're here.
00:45:11Thanks.
00:45:12God.
00:45:13What a journey.
00:45:15I can't believe that's a wee it.
00:45:18Let's do this.
00:45:19What are we waiting for?
00:45:20Bye, la.
00:45:21Right, kid.
00:45:22You're ready to go.
00:45:26Let's do this.
00:45:28Okay.
00:45:28Found a lift and head off road to locate the Ovu at the top of Saheul Hill.
00:45:34So we have to find a lift, all right?
00:45:38Let's just go by the road, then.
00:45:40There's somebody in a land rover.
00:45:42Saheul Hill.
00:45:42There is a second hole.
00:45:47I'll go on the other side.
00:45:49Oh, shit.
00:45:52We are in a race.
00:45:53Would you give us a lift, please?
00:45:55Please.
00:45:55Oh, thank you.
00:45:56Thank you, thank you, thank you.
00:45:58Can you drive to Saheul now?
00:46:01Yeah, now.
00:46:01Yeah, okay.
00:46:02Can we come in?
00:46:02Yeah.
00:46:02Slip down a taxi.
00:46:04Hello.
00:46:04We are in a race.
00:46:06Go, go, go.
00:46:07Oh, is that enough there?
00:46:08All right, Kate.
00:46:11I'm going to cling on to the whole thing.
00:46:12Molly and Andrew didn't make it yesterday.
00:46:14I can still see an empty book on my head.
00:46:16It's just how my brain works.
00:46:19Racing?
00:46:19Yes, we're racing.
00:46:20Race, race, race.
00:46:21As quick as you can do it.
00:46:23As we say at home, keep it between the ditches.
00:46:25We need to go to the top.
00:46:27Can you drive to the top?
00:46:28It's trial.
00:46:29Yeah, we'll try.
00:46:33We're here.
00:46:33Is this the hill?
00:46:35We're here.
00:46:37Can we go to the top?
00:46:41Just translate.
00:46:43I understand, but I can't go because my car is a small car.
00:46:47I can't.
00:46:49So, we didn't take it out, though.
00:46:52Yeah, there's a pretty happy walk.
00:46:59Oh, my God, the car is struggling.
00:47:02Oh, no, the car can't do it.
00:47:04Oh, my God, it's right in my socks already.
00:47:07Oh, it's horrible.
00:47:09He's got there, Katie, on the right.
00:47:11Run up a mountain.
00:47:12We're so stiffy.
00:47:14This is not the most efficient way, but you can't drive us.
00:47:16I think we'll waste some time.
00:47:19Oh, Jesus, now we're really off-road.
00:47:22Wow.
00:47:23Oh, she's slipping and slipping.
00:47:24Oh, my God.
00:47:25Oh, my God.
00:47:26Good job we're not walking, huh?
00:47:31I think it would have been worth the time searching for a 4x4.
00:47:35Where?
00:47:38Thank you, thank you, thank you, okay.
00:47:41There's a monument up there.
00:47:43So slippy.
00:47:44Keep running.
00:47:45I'm coming.
00:47:47Oh, my God.
00:47:48I'm going to drop this bag.
00:47:49Oh, my days.
00:47:52Yes.
00:47:56That must be the oval.
00:47:58Oh, look at that view, Molly.
00:48:03Look at that.
00:48:04That is amazing.
00:48:06OMG.
00:48:10That's push-up.
00:48:14Let's go.
00:48:14It's right there.
00:48:15Yeah.
00:48:16This must be it.
00:48:16It's the only thing at the top of this hill.
00:48:19There's my bag.
00:48:25Right, Molly, kid.
00:48:26Let's go head through the forest to Lake Koskvall.
00:48:34I'll locate Sukhbata to receive further instructions.
00:48:39Sukhbata, the only ship in the Mongolian Navy, stationed 2,000 kilometers from the nearest coastline.
00:48:48This is the lake, so let's just...
00:48:50I just have self.
00:48:51You grab your bag, you're going to leave it here.
00:48:52I'm leaving it.
00:48:53You leave it at the top.
00:48:54So that's the forest.
00:48:55Absolutely.
00:48:55It must be down to the pier.
00:48:57Super top.
00:48:57Maybe like that port.
00:48:58Yeah, I reckon it's the port.
00:49:00I'm leaving it.
00:49:01Aaaa!
00:49:03Aaaaaa!
00:49:04I won't stop.
00:49:06Whoa!
00:49:09No!
00:49:10Ha-ha!
00:49:11Ha-ha!
00:49:13Ha-ha!
00:49:18Why are you galloping?
00:49:23He said he was running his bloody backpack.
00:49:26Well, this is effective.
00:49:28Katie, what are you doing?
00:49:29It's no good, man.
00:49:31Oh, it.
00:49:35Oh, my Jesus, my God.
00:49:39Keep going. Keep going.
00:49:41I'm coming for you.
00:49:44Oh, that's sick.
00:49:49It's food back tar.
00:49:51I wonder, is that the boat?
00:49:52Is that the boat?
00:49:55Super tar.
00:49:57Super tar.
00:49:59Super tar.
00:50:00Is it a boat, lad?
00:50:01These boats look abandoned.
00:50:04Let's just follow the lake a bit.
00:50:06You sure?
00:50:07Yeah.
00:50:10I think that's a boat.
00:50:11I'm going to take a chance on it.
00:50:13Let's get through here.
00:50:18Oh, my God.
00:50:20Her boat is called Super tar.
00:50:22Yeah, Daddy, that's in here.
00:50:23This must be it, Molly.
00:50:25Take a vehicle to Camp Ashey High and proceed along the spit to sign in at the finish line.
00:50:30Okay.
00:50:31This spit is a long finger of land, Molly.
00:50:35Right, kid.
00:50:36We need to find a car.
00:50:37I have no clue.
00:50:39The only thing I can see is...
00:50:42I think it's the boat.
00:50:43Just check before we leave.
00:50:45Oh, you're having a joke.
00:50:46We're wasting time, you know.
00:50:48Hello.
00:50:48Would you be able to drive me somewhere?
00:50:50Yes.
00:50:51Can I have?
00:50:51Yes.
00:50:53Are you?
00:50:53Hi.
00:50:57Well, there it is.
00:50:58Super tar, bro.

00:51:04Look at this.
00:51:05My God, this is beautiful, isn't it?
00:51:07Can you drive?
00:51:09It's actually you.
00:51:10Wait.
00:51:10Sick.
00:51:11I hope we're first.
00:51:12I really hope we're first.
00:51:14We couldn't have moved any faster.
00:51:15We've not seen any team since arriving here,
00:51:17so we have no idea if we're first,
00:51:19second, third or fourth.
00:51:21This is it.
00:51:22This is eight weeks in the making.
00:51:23This is Palermo, Viscado, Istanbul, Georgia,
00:51:27everything, everywhere we've been to police
00:51:28is just all in one for this moment.

00:52:12Don't say it is.
00:52:15Come on, kid.
00:52:16All right.

00:52:55Oh, my days.
00:52:55You've successfully reached the finish line.
00:52:57Please say no relief.
00:52:59I'm fine if you won the race.
00:53:01I'm 20-30.
00:53:04I don't want to turn it over.
00:53:07I don't want to do it, lad.
00:53:08This is actually torture.
00:53:11Right.
00:53:12You ready?
00:53:15Oh, bro.
00:53:16Just do it.
00:53:19Three, two, one.
00:53:23Two, two, one.
00:53:24Oh, my God.

00:53:46We've done it.
00:53:47The dream from the start was opening the final book.
00:53:50I've seen it empty.
00:53:53When it's actually happening, it's hard to get my head around it, you know?
00:53:57You're actually broke.
00:53:59And I hope we did Liverpool proud, big old Scouts.
00:54:01First win for Liverpool.
00:54:02That's what it was all about.
00:54:05We're safe.
00:54:07We're safe.
00:54:13Fair play to the boys. Congratulations to the boys.
00:54:16We had a tough final leg.
00:54:18Going to the wrong Jargaland is the reason we're second.
00:54:22But it is, it is.
00:54:23What time is it?
00:54:241.27.
00:54:27We're three hours behind the lads.
00:54:29What an achievement.
00:54:30I didn't actually physically think we were going to make it.
00:54:32Oh, we did it?
00:54:40Well done, we'll finish line.
00:54:41Now the rest.

00:54:5018 hours.
00:54:51Pretty good going.
00:54:53We couldn't have done this any better, this leg.
00:54:56And we've made it to that gal.
00:54:57We literally couldn't have done it any quicker.
00:54:59And we've done it together.
00:55:02Yeah.
00:55:02I could still just like cry with pride and joy that we're here.
00:55:06Yeah.
00:55:07Oh, I'm back in the snow.
00:55:09It's done.
00:55:10It's done.

00:55:43Oh, together.
00:55:46Wow.
00:55:48Okay, Margot.
00:55:49Yes.
00:55:50Congratulations.
00:55:51You have successfully reached the finish line.
00:55:54Please sign in no belief to find out if you've won the race.
00:55:56We haven't.
00:55:57We haven't.
00:55:58But let's see who has.
00:55:59Okay.
00:55:59One, two, three.
00:56:02Joe and Kush.
00:56:03Kush.
00:56:03Oh, well done Joe and Kush.
00:56:05That is amazing, isn't it?
00:56:06A fun time.
00:56:07Well done boys.
00:56:08Oh, we've done it, Margot.
00:56:09Yeah.
00:56:1151.
00:56:12And...
00:56:12What is it?
00:56:1317?
00:56:151715?
00:56:16What an experience.
00:56:17What a journey.
00:56:18I couldn't do it without you, Mark.
00:56:20A true friend.
00:56:20It's been brilliant.
00:56:21A true friend.
00:56:21A true friend.
00:56:22And Julie would be really proud of us, wouldn't she?
00:56:24Yeah.
00:56:25Yeah.
00:56:26We took that one once.
00:56:27I know, she would be.
00:56:30You're so proud.
00:56:30She would.
00:56:31Absolutely, yeah.
00:56:33I feel wonderful.
00:56:35A great achievement, isn't it?
00:56:37Brilliant.
00:56:37We're absolutely thrilled.
00:56:39There are times when we didn't think we'd make it and we've made it and we are just so happy,
00:56:43aren't we?
00:56:43Yes.
00:56:44We haven't won the race, but we've won our race.
00:56:48And we've come in fashionably late.
00:56:53Here's to you, Julia, wherever you are.
00:56:55Yeah.
00:56:56Who inspired us.
00:56:57Who inspired us.
00:56:58Thank you, Julia.
00:57:00Yeah.
00:57:00Thank you, Julia!
00:57:02She's laughing.
00:57:05She's saying, go and get yourself a drink.
00:57:06Oh, yes.
00:57:07You deserve it.
00:57:08You mad fools.
00:57:18Right, who wants a bowl of the local drink?
00:57:21Normally, at home, a bowl of vodka would be considered unclassy.
00:57:26But it's local, so it's okay.
00:57:29Hello.
00:57:30Here we are.
00:57:32We've arrived.
00:57:33Well done, boys.
00:57:34Well done.
00:57:35You both deserve it.
00:57:36You both deserve it.
00:57:37We're absolutely thrilled to have finished just to get to that finishing point.
00:57:44It's just been an amazing journey.
00:57:46It has.
00:57:47We have had magical times, haven't we?
00:57:48We have, yeah.
00:57:50We did the race to forge a friendship.
00:57:52And we've done what we set out to achieve.
00:57:56It's been brilliant being with you on the race.
00:57:58You've kept me going.
00:57:59And that's what true friends do.
00:58:01It's not a given you get to have now.
00:58:03The fact that we've all got here is insane.
00:58:05I'm sad.
00:58:06I could do this forever.
00:58:08We have just been on such an adventure of different places, cultures, people.
00:58:13The fact that we've traveled from boiling hot Italy through eight countries, it's so sick.
00:58:20Get in.
00:58:20We've definitely got closer.
00:58:22We can be more open with each other.
00:58:25Bursting with pride.
00:58:26I got one achievement.
00:58:27What a buzz.
00:58:28Amazing to finish it.
00:58:29Amazing to get here in this beautiful place.
00:58:30Such a journey.
00:58:32This is the hardest thing I've ever done.
00:58:34Oh, Jesus Christ.
00:58:35But it's also one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.
00:58:38We're a good team and we worked hard.
00:58:41I always knew I was an overthinker, but now I can see that that isn't my benefit.
00:58:47She's well capable.
00:58:48So proud of her.
00:58:49And it's been amazing.
00:58:50It's been so fun.
00:58:52What about you boys coming first?
00:58:54So hard to explain this feeling.
00:58:56I'm actually gutted it's over now.
00:58:57That's so true.
00:58:58It's been unbelievable.
00:59:00Everywhere we've gone has made an impact on us and changed our perspective.
00:59:04Wow.
00:59:05It's been a test.
00:59:06We're just two Scouts kids.
00:59:08But I think this has proved we are more than capable.
00:59:11We've grown a lot.
00:59:12I think we've learned a lot.
00:59:13Because I've been exposed to so much.
00:59:16And having Joe there.
00:59:17Thank you so much for keeping me sane.
00:59:20Bro, I love you so much.
00:59:22Yeah, I'm a real one.
00:59:24Love you, bro.
00:59:26Big congratulations.
00:59:28Big well done.
00:59:28Well done, everybody.
00:59:30Well done, well done, well done.
00:59:31Let's miss you, boys.
00:59:32Well done.
00:59:33To the boys.
00:59:34Well done, boys.
00:59:36Well done.
00:59:36To the boys.
00:59:37Do you want more vodka?
00:59:39Yes, please.
00:59:39I'm on my second, so...
00:59:50So excited to see them.
00:59:51Thank you, Joe Moshni.
00:59:54The gloves are off.
00:59:56You said from the first, we're seriously in it to win it.
00:59:59But quite quickly, you were like...
01:00:00The amount of people needed to get ten idiots to race across the world is insane.
01:00:04Woo-hoo!
01:00:05As soon as they're ten minutes away, then we're action stations.
01:00:09You need to get everyone in position.
01:00:11Let me tell them everything's fine.
01:00:12Copy that, we're rolling.
01:00:13You can just do whatever you want.
01:00:15Hop your phone down and actually listen to people.
01:00:18I've got a question for everyone.
01:00:20Would you do it again?
