HORSES THROUGH EVERY SEASON
WITH PIX AND VID
By Shuk Yee Tsang
These stunning close-up photos and videos capture Icelandic horses enjoying life through every season from snowy winter landscapes to golden summer evenings.
The stunning footage was filmed by Agnieszka Stefania, a mum-of-two from Hvolsvöllur, Iceland, who runs the family-owned Sky Retreat Iceland alongside her husband, Ingólfur.
The horses, which belong to a neighbouring farm, roam freely across the land surrounding the retreat all year round.
The couple later built their own countryside retreat on Iceland’s south coast, where guests can experience Icelandic rural life surrounded by sheep, horses and views of the Northern Lights.
Horse riding experiences are also available nearby, just minutes from the cabins.
The footage shows the friendly horses approaching the camera for dramatic close-ups while wandering across the Icelandic countryside in changing weather conditions.
One horse in particular has become known for constantly stealing the spotlight.
The younger horses are equally memorable, often racing around the fields at full speed.
Agnieszka said: “The horses belong to our neighbour and roam freely on our land year-round so they’re simply always there.
“Every season changes them: snow-dusted in winter, wild-maned in the wind, golden in the summer light.
“The light changes, the seasons change, and they’re always there, patient, dramatic, completely photogenic.
"There’s one big horse who always walks straight toward me the moment he sees meand positions himself directly in front of my lens.
“Every single time. Whether he’s trying to help or sabotage, I’m still not sure.
“They race around in circles, chasing each other or sometimes chasing me as if they’re competing for attention.
“Sometimes they come charging straight at you just to see your reaction. Chaotic, but incredibly fun to photograph.
