00:07We start things off hot as players have sent an open letter to FIFA supported by medical experts
00:12to insist on the world governing body implementing stronger heat stress protocols.
00:17They argue that the current measures are inadequate and are demanding a review of its policies to delay
00:21or postpone matches above 28 degrees Celsius, extend cooling breaks to at least 6 minutes,
00:27and improve cooling facilities for players.
00:30Researchers have suggested that summer temperatures in northern American cities could reach unsafe conditions for players.
00:36While there's concern over the heat, FIFA is also concerned with an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
00:43There's a level of doubt over DR Congo's participation at the tournament,
00:46especially after the U.S. recently imposed a ban on the DR Congo, Uganda and South Sudan in response to
00:53the escalating outbreak.
00:54In a statement, FIFA said it is aware of and monitoring the situation with the outbreak
00:58and is in close communication with the DR Congo Football Association.
01:03While Brazilian fans are celebrating the return of superstar Neymar to the Brazilian World Cup squad,
01:08former France striker Christophe Dugari has a more negative take on the recall, branding it a freak show.
01:14Dugari said Neymar's recall to the Brazilian squad after a three-year absence signaled a decline in the standard of
01:19the Samba Boys.
01:20The Frenchman, who was part of the 1998 France team that beat Brazil in the final,
01:24said he's not convinced that Neymar can still contribute anything to the national team.
01:30World Cup co-favorite Spain will have to do without one of their quality youngsters in Firmin Lopez.
01:35The midfielder was ruled out after fracturing the fifth metatarsal on his right foot in Barcelona's final home league match
01:41on Sunday.
01:41He has already had surgery and should be out approximately two months,
01:45depriving Spain of one of the best young midfielders in the game.
01:48And Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon, at 43 years of age, is set to be the oldest player at this World
01:54Cup.
01:55Should the Hearts keep a feature for Scotland at the tournament,
01:57he will become the second oldest player in World Cup history behind Egypt Issam El Haddari,
02:02who holds the record at 45 years, 161 days at the 2018 World Cup.
