Neuron says it will stop operating e-scooters in Newcastle at the end of May as part of wider plans to wind down services across the United Kingdom. The city council says the trial gave the government useful evidence about future transport options.

00:19Council says many residents benefited from the service while Neuron claims journeys replaced
00:24hundreds of thousands of car trips, reducing emissions. Concerns were previously raised about
00:31dangerous riding and underage users. The company says almost every journey was completed safely
00:36and customers with active passes will receive further information about refunds before operations
00:42end on the Saturday.
