00:00We know recently that Warrnambool was named one of the most liveable, well the most liveable town.
00:06And it was also named the most liveable city when it came to tourism last year.
00:12So when you have the reputation of a town that is the most liveable in the state,
00:18the biggest tourism in terms of the state, this stuff doesn't happen by accident, it's by hard work.
00:24And you've got to protect that reputation and you've got to protect everything around it.
00:27And we're standing behind a beautiful pristine coastline that needs to be protected.
00:34People come here, they enjoy it here and we need to protect what we've got.
00:38And that is why today HS Wilson Government will work to ensure that this is protected
00:44and will do that by ensuring that there is no industrial development of the whale nursery.
00:50This whale nursery must be protected at all costs.
00:53The Government has run roughshod over the community.
00:56They're ignoring community concerns and they've been doing that for far too long.
01:01Roma Britnell has been the strongest advocate for her community.
01:05This started way beyond.
01:08Two years ago, over two years ago, when the project offshore wind was announced by the Government.
01:13Roma did her homework and Roma has been fighting for the community and been asking the questions ever since.
01:19We know recently there was an environmental report that was done by the Federal Government and it was hidden.
01:26And my colleague Nick McGowan, our Shadow Minister of Environment, will talk more about this.
01:30This was hidden from the public.
01:32When it finally was discovered through a friend of information, that information was redacted.
01:39So a lot of the information was again hidden.
01:42So we're still no wiser as a community as to what the environmental impact of this industrial development of the
01:49whale nursery would be.
01:50This is an important area that needs to be protected.
01:54Our whales need to be protected.
01:55Our whales need to be protected.
01:57Our marine life needs to be protected.
01:59Our coastal offshore also needs to be protected.
02:02And that's why we'll oppose the industrial development of this whale nursery here in Warrnambool and Port Ferry.
