Chris Bowen announces next steps for offshore windfarm

Energy Minister Chris Bowen spoke at the Portland Aluminium Smelter to  announce the next steps for the Southern Ocean offshore wind industry.

00:07this smelter needs, and that our country needs.

00:24Hi everyone, I've just issued the first licence, the licence for the Southern Ocean Zone.

00:30It's the area here, it's proposed feasibility licence now open for 60 days of consultation,

00:351,700 construction jobs, 300 ongoing jobs, 1.6 billion dollars of local economic benefit,

00:41and we're going to make sure as much of that benefit as possible flows to local jobs,

00:44local businesses, local apprentices, lots more information to come over the next few years.
