11:11This is a tribute to my family, to my traditions, and to those memories that we build around the holidays.

11:21I was in the studio writing songs and then I told the guys, guys, could we write something Christmasy?

15:26I realized, as an adult, those books that I would read about diversity as a child sometimes made children's differences
15:35the point of the story.
15:37And so, I wanted to make a book where the characters are all different, but that's the norm.

15:47I remember being on the playground as a kid and girls started running from me at recess and I didn't
15:52understand why.

16:06So, I really hope that through this book, kids feel seen, heard, and accepted.

19:49And I spent three months with nobody coming in it, painting it, getting it ready, setting it up.

19:59And you know, we have this amazing house in Miami, but nothing felt like this.
20:03It was like the yard was made for children.
20:07He used to let the kids ride their bikes through the hallways.
20:10It has a lot of great memories, this house.

20:13The journey has been not easy. It has been a rough road.
20:18It is not easy to let go of things you love.

26:05I come from a business-oriented family and I am a fourth-generation entrepreneur.
26:09I am the GP of Contour Capital and I have my amazing principal, Jamie Woodard.
26:19Contour Capital is an early growth stage venture firm investing in the future of health and wellbeing.
26:25But really everything women's health from menstrual, mental, maternal and menopause.
26:32I've invested in over 60 companies and with that I've had a lot of learnings and experience.
26:38And it's also really allowed me to find the gaps.
26:43You know, as a woman of color who spent a long time trying to have my own family,
26:48I recognized that there were so many gaps in the healthcare market.
26:52How are we going to fix those situations, right?
26:54One is from the government side, which I'll save that conversation for another time.
26:59The other side of it is investing in the private market.
27:03Companies that are doing between $5 and $10 million in revenue,
27:07when they are going out to be supported by institutions,
27:11there really is a lack of funding there.
27:14We are the investors that are powering those overlooked companies.
27:18We are beyond strategic and angel investors at this point,
27:22and this is where we will add the most value.
27:25We are raising a $40 million firm.
27:27We are very excited to, you know, give you guys this opportunity.
27:31I think for me it's always been about like this larger impact and purpose.
27:34And so we're trying to create positive health outcomes.
27:37Of course, understanding, you know, more of the issues around the patient care systems in our country
27:42and why they were so broken and why Black women are dying at an exceptionally higher rate than their non
27:48-Black counterparts.
27:49Like, all of these things are certainly the catalyst for wanting to put your money where your mouth is.

35:19It's been like a little over a year that I've been working on the fund.
35:23This is clearly the hardest thing I've done throughout the last 15 years of my career.
35:28We just need people who truly believe in us as a team, believe in my unique position as

35:35It's more important now to keep investing in the private market within like the women's
35:38health sector.
35:39Ultimately, we need to have more control, more insight.

37:40really close to both of our stories with us growing up with single mothers.
