00:00So let me just get this right. We pay a guy millions of dollars a year to be an insider.
00:05To give us information that without him, we either A would not get or B would get later.
00:13That's his job, right? And he's really good at his job.
00:16He's great.
00:16Very well-connected cat, right?
00:18So he knows that SGA wins it. So he does his job.
00:23And now we're pissed at the guy for doing his job?
00:27I know what Amazon's thinking. Amazon's saying, wait a minute.
00:30We wrote a billion-dollar check to the NBA.
00:34And part of that money, I'll make you the number up, that we wrote the check for
00:38was the exclusive announcement of postseason awards, right?
00:42Yeah.
00:42And now a guy that works for you guys, right, is now trumping our exclusive announcement on Twitter.
00:50That's right.
00:51And you're surprised by that?
00:53Well, I don't have to like that.
00:54Are you upset by that?
00:54Well, this is two years in a row he's done it now.
00:56I wasn't upset by it.
00:57Were you?
00:58Yeah, I was bothered by it a little bit for this reason.
01:01ESPN's going to get their turn.
01:02Let's say ESPN has the game tonight, correct?
01:05Has the game tonight.
01:06Yeah, the entire series about ESPN.
01:07Has the series, right.
01:08ESPN, right.
01:09And we have 8-10 starts versus 8-40.
01:10Just real quick.
01:11Thank God ESPN has the Nick Cavs series, so we don't have to listen to Reggie Miller ruin
01:20yet another broadcast and remind us that he had one good game at Madison Square Garden
01:26in his entire career.
01:28And the fact that he forgets the fact that throughout his career, he had a losing record against the
01:36Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
01:38Thank God.
01:39And I'm not an ESPN guy.
01:41But thank God that Mike Breen, who's he doing with Richard Jefferson?
01:47Richard Jefferson.
01:48Who's another clown, by the way.
01:49And Legs, right?
01:51And Legler.
01:51Tim Legler.
01:52Yeah.
01:53Who's fine.
01:54Not the greatest broadcast of all time.
01:56Philly guy.
01:57Philly's everywhere.
01:58By the way, I'm not a fan of that booth.
02:00I love Mike Breen, obviously.
02:01Yeah.
02:01I wish they would just have Jefferson and Legler do like a companion broadcast and have
02:07Walt Clyde Frazier do the game.
02:09He actually does the games objectively.
02:11No, he does.
02:12Yeah, he's going to call the Knicks games right there in the middle.
02:15Yeah, that's what he does.
02:15Yeah, yeah.
02:16Yeah.
02:16Right there in the middle.
02:17Splenditious and flicious.
02:19What's flicious mean?
02:20Well, I don't know.
02:20I just made it up.
02:21In any event.
02:23They have someone else doing a companion broadcast.
02:26Is there a companion broadcast?
02:27Yeah, Amon Shumper's doing it.
02:29Shump is doing it?
02:30Shump's doing it with the radio, one of the radio sideline people.
02:33Oh, is that right?
02:34Yeah.
02:34Oh, good for him.
02:35Yeah, Shump's doing the companion.
02:35Shump might need the money.
02:36His wife took everything he had.
02:37He took it all.
02:38Like houses, cars, cash, the whole kid on the caboodle.
02:41Yeah.
02:41Yeah.
02:42But I mean, but he's back though.
02:44Yeah.
02:45And I think Shumper does a good job.
02:47Yeah, I just, like, I saw everyone going crazy the last couple days.
02:51I can't believe Shump's doing that.
02:53And, like, that's his, like, when you write down what the dude's job is.
02:59Yeah.
02:59That's his job.
03:01Well, here's a question though.
03:02If.
03:03Don't owe me downstairs.
03:04No, no, no, no, because I don't, I don't.
03:06That's what he gets paid to do.
03:07He may be correct.
03:08When ESPN has, has the MVP, if the MVP was Jalen Brunson, if the MVP was Donovan Mitchell
03:14and they were going to announce it on ESPN, would he then tip it since he works for ESPN?
03:19That's a great question.
03:20I'm not sure what the rules of engagement for ESPN are with your insiders.
03:24And that's what I'm interested in.
03:25But I know I've watched a million drafts and I've seen draft after draft, NFL and NBA.
03:30So multiple networks, I've seen them, you report five minutes before the pick gets announced
03:36who the pick is.
03:37Yeah.
03:37So again, it's like, I just, I'm going to be repetitive here.
03:41I don't want to be, but you pay somebody to do exactly what he did.
03:48Like if Amazon, if you want to control what Shams does, hire him, hire him, right?
03:56Make him your insider and tell him you can't release information.
04:01If we have an exclusive window to do it, just to go ahead and do it.
04:06But you know, DSPN employs them.
04:08Well, Shams has said, right?
04:09Yeah.
04:09Shams response has been, I do my job and I do it at a high level.
04:13Stop.
04:13That's what he said.
04:14I agree with Shams.
04:16Now, I think Shams can have a sense of humor and smile every now and then.
04:19He doesn't do that.
04:20When someone goes, you just look like you just came back from a brunch.
04:23I'm not sure why that was fun.
04:24But he was like, let's just get to businesswoman.
04:27I'm like, all right.
04:28But yeah, people, everyone's so sensitive and soft these days.
