00:00Well, you know what is not reeling? The Clippers. A Clippers team that was, could not get out of their own way a couple weeks ago.
00:09I sat here before the season and said the Clippers are winning the West. Yeah, that's not going to happen.
00:14But is it too late for the Clippers to make a run? What is it for straight? The Clippers are now two and a half games out of the 10th seed, and five and a half games out of the 8th seed.
00:24So why am I mentioning the importance of them trying to not get to 10, but get to 8? Remember the play-in tournament. 7 plays 8 for a chance to get the 7th seed.
00:38For the Clippers, that would allow them, if they got to 8, to play the 7th seed, win on the road, and then go as a 7th seed and be ready for this on the other side of the bracket of the Oklahoma City Thunder, where they could possibly make a run.
00:56Now, Jones has gotten back. They still are missing Beal for the rest of the year. But roles are clear. Rotations are stable. Kawhi Leonard is playing like Kawhi Leonard, and his health changes the entire equation.
01:10Same thing with James Harden. And you still have to look at the fact that they have Ty Lue, who I think is still pound for pound one of the five best coaches in the league.
01:19When the Clippers know who they are, they're a problem for everybody. Right now, they're a problem, possibly for the Western Conference. Let's see if it's too late for them to find their way into the playoff race.
01:35Speaking of races, we now have to have a Jalen Brunson conversation. What Jalen Brunson has done for my hometown Knicks has been nothing short of remarkable.
01:45No one saw this coming. I don't care who you are. But if you just look at the last three games, 47 points versus Miami, 34 points versus Cleveland on Christmas Day, and then 34 points last game at Atlanta.
02:01Jalen Brunson possibly, ready for this, after the years that he's had with tips, could be having a better year now.
02:11Look at this. Roughly 30 points a game, 6.4 assists, 3.3 rebounds per game, shooting at about 36% from three, 48% from the floor.
02:22Efficiency, volume, leadership, and playing in Gotham for a team that hasn't won a championship since 1973 instantly puts you into the MVP conversation.
02:34Big moments don't speed him up. They slow him down. And the last three games showed elite scoring versatility, but big shot ability down the stretch.
02:47The Knicks could have three all-stars in this team with Cat and OG Ananobi. But make no mistake about it, Jalen Brunson is playing out of his mind.
02:56And he doesn't chase moments, he controls them. And he's controlling the narrative that he should be in the MVP conversation.
