Transcript
00:00We've all heard stories of the Mandalorian bounty hunter.
00:05Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most important things to remember before the Mandalorian
00:11and Grogu comes out.
00:12This is the way.
00:14By the way, spoilers ahead.
00:17Number 10. Moff Gideon's Return
00:19Mandalorians are weak once they lose their trinkets.
00:22Moff Gideon seemingly died on Mandalore, but his research into Force-sensitive clones may actually suggest his own return in
00:29the upcoming movie.
00:30He's successfully developed genetic duplicates of himself capable of using the Force before his laboratory was destroyed.
00:37The thing is, there was no body, meaning there is a very real possibility that we'll see him return, or
00:42at the very least a clone assuming his identity in the movie.
00:45The Shadow Council still requires a leader, and there are multiple possible candidates for the position, one of them being
00:51Moff Gideon.
00:52We shall be rid of the Mandalorians once and for all.
00:59Long live the Empire!
01:02Long live the Empire!
01:04His Beskar armor likely protected him from the blast, leaving his fate ambiguous and highly suspicious.
01:15Number 9. Grogu's Jedi Training
01:18Grogu spent a pretty significant amount of time training with Luke to master his connection to the Force.
01:23Bend down, jump, and as you do, feel the Force flow through you.
01:30He learned to lift heavy objects and perform acrobatic feats, but he ultimately chose the path of the Mandalorian over
01:36the Jedi Order.
01:37It became official when he accepted the Beskar chainmail that Din gave to him.
01:41Now that he's a foundling, he has essentially become the hybrid warrior that Moff Gideon wanted to be.
01:47There is a high chance we'll see this rejection come up in the movie to some degree, perhaps needing to
01:52choose between the light and the dark side.
01:55May the Force be with you.
01:56Number 8. Eliah Cain
01:58Sir, I'm afraid the pirates have run into trouble on Navarro.
02:01Officer Eliah Cain remains embedded within the New Republic's amnesty program on Coruscant.
02:06She proved her loyalty to the Empire by sabotaging Dr. Pershing's research and using a mind flayer to erase his
02:12memories.
02:24Her role as an infiltrator allows her to feed intelligence to the Imperial Shadow Council while appearing rehabilitated.
02:30I'm sorry, officer, you spent some time in the Outer Rim, right?
02:33Have you ever heard of Navarro?
02:35I have.
02:36If she isn't in the movie, which the actress has implied in interviews, she's likely to show up assisting one
02:42in some way.
02:43Whether that ends up being Thrawn or Moff Gideon is hard to say, but they laid the groundwork for it.
02:48Continue with your mission.
02:49I shall deal with our Mandalorian friends.
02:54Number 7. Rodda the Hutt
02:56Rodda the Hutt makes a return to the screen after his introduction in the animated film for The Clone Wars.
03:01Oh, he's so cute.
03:03Just wait until you see what he'll grow into.
03:06He's played by Jeremy Allen White, whom you might know from The Bear and Shameless.
03:10As the son of Jabba the Hutt, Rodda's got some big shoes to fill.
03:13Although he literally can't.
03:15What are we gonna do?
03:17Well, since you think that smelly larva is cute, you're gonna carry it.
03:21Rodda and his huts will add a third party to the conflict between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnants.
03:25And it'll be fun to see if Rodda will come anywhere close to the heights of his father's glory.
03:33Number 6. Dave Filoni's Untitled Giant Crossover
03:37It's confirmed that Dave Filoni is currently in the midst of developing a so far unnamed Mandoverse movie that will
03:44have all the Disney show characters converge and meet.
03:46How did you get her to tell the truth?
03:49Let's just say I didn't follow standard Jedi protocol.
03:53This movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, which effectively replaces The Mandalorian Season 4,
03:58will supposedly prepare us for that crossover movie later down the line.
04:02It'll have everyone from The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and Skeleton crew face a common threat Avengers style.
04:08Whichever way Dave Filoni aims to bring us to that point, we'll see in the movie.
04:11But, The Mandalorian and Grogu is almost certainly a primer for it.
04:16Are you with me?
04:19Number 5. Johnny Coyne
04:22Actor Johnny Coyne joins the cast in a role described as a primary antagonist for the film.
04:27He'll reprise his role as Lord Janu as seen in Season 3.
04:31Although he's a bit of a background character originally,
04:33this suggests he'll have a bigger role to play in the movie.
04:36There's a fortune to be had, plundering the hyperspace lanes.
04:39There's a good chance he'll be the main foil to Din Djarin throughout,
04:43with his place as a high-ranking member of the Shadow Council.
04:46Of course, there are much bigger fish who we'll potentially see,
04:49but Lord Janu is likely to be the face of it.
04:52Yes.
04:53Of course.
04:54That's right, yes.
04:55In other words, an immediate danger to Din and Grogu early on,
04:59only to be overshadowed by an even bigger bad later in the movie.
05:02Captain, secrets are my stock and trade.
05:05Number 4. The New Status Quo
05:11Let's not forget where Din actually finds himself now.
05:14We know the movie's gonna start with Din living in a cabin on the outskirts of Navarro.
05:18He has officially transitioned from a freelance bounty hunter to a private contractor for the New Republic.
05:23His handler is Colonel Ward, a rebel veteran portrayed by none other than Sigourney Weaver.
05:28We're protecting everything the Rebellion fought for.
05:31Ward directs Din to eliminate Imperial targets that the Republic cannot officially engage.
05:36So he's officially aiding in the war effort, and Grogu's still with him too, as a Mandalorian apprentice.
05:42Despite taking a bit more of a war angle, the Mandalorian and Grogu is still classified as a space western.
05:49This isn't about revenge. It's about preventing another war.
05:53Number 3. The Mythosaur's Appearance
05:55The sighting of a living Mythosaur in the living waters beneath Mandalore is one of the most significant events of
06:01the show.
06:01This legendary creature was long thought to be extinct, existing only in songs and ancient prophecies.
06:14Its presence, if the comics are anything to go by, signals an eventual return to form for Mandalore.
06:20It pretty much represents Mandalorians as a people.
06:23Bo-Katan Kryze saw it, as if her leadership is divine in some way.
06:27Hopefully, the movie expands on this, and delves into the mysticism of the Mandalorians, as seen in the older Star
06:33Wars comic books.
06:41Number 2. The Darksaber and Mandalore's Leader
06:48The destruction of the Darksaber during the battle with Moff Gideon in the show created a leadership vacuum for the
06:53Mandalorians.
06:54For generations, the blade served as the sole symbol of the right to rule.
06:59Without it, Bo-Katan must lead through merit and shared vision rather than ancient artifacts.
07:03The Darksaber is gone.
07:07This is another reason why the Mythosaur is likely to come up.
07:10However, if that's the case, that's probably something saved for near the end of the movie.
07:15So, for now, the different Mandalorian clans will have to redefine what it means to be their leader.
07:20Perhaps Grogu will have a thing or two to say about that, despite not being able to talk yet.
07:25He did good, kid.
07:37Before we continue, check out this single from Sound Mojo's album, Current, EDM Transformed.
07:43Check out the full track and album below.
07:58Number 1. Grand Admiral Thrawn's Return
08:01Grand Admiral Thrawn has successfully returned from his exile in the galaxy of Peridia, as seen in The Ahsoka Show.
08:07Our course is locked in, Grand Admiral.
08:12Take us out.
08:14He is a master of military strategy and psychological warfare, making him the most dangerous threat to the New Republic's
08:20stability.
08:21Which is why we should prepare for a ground assault.
08:26Immediately.
08:29Unlike previous villains, Thrawn uses art and culture to understand and dismantle his enemies.
08:34He now leads the Imperial Remnants with a calculated and tight efficiency that hasn't been seen since the height of
08:40the Empire.
08:41Dispatch two TIE Fighters if they find their mark.
08:44Tell them to engage.
08:45What's more, his return justifies the existence of the Shadow Council and their various cloning and military projects.
08:51So it just makes sense that he'd make an appearance in this movie.
08:54Or perhaps they're saving him for the crossover one later.
08:58Long live the Empire.
09:02Those were the most important things to remember before The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters.
09:06Are you up to date?
09:08Did we miss anything important?
09:09Tell us in the comments.
