00:00If this Mets young outfield with Juan Soto is here to stay, my friend, what happens when Luis Robert gets
00:05back?
00:05I mean, this feels like a good problem to have.
00:07What goes on there?
00:08Do you stay with the young kids if they're cooking or you're going to take them out the kitchen?
00:12What do you think goes on here?
00:14You definitely don't take the kids out of the kitchen if they're cooking.
00:17That goes without saying.
00:18You know, like I say, have your kids cook in the kitchen if they're not age of cooking.
00:21But yes, I'm not expecting Luis Robert anytime soon than after the All-Star break at this rate.
00:27Like he, unfortunately, with the back issue and the flare up that he has, this is not something that can
00:33be rushed.
00:33It reminds me a bit of Jesse Winker last year when he went down with injury and game on the
00:38doubleheader in May against the Cardinals.
00:40First play that he made, literally the last play that he had for the New York Mets last year.
00:44And he hasn't played again since Major League Baseball.
00:46Robert, who's having these lumbar, you know, inflammation issues, among other things, whatever is, you know, really barking there.
00:52That's something that they're not going to rush.
00:53And if A.J. Ewing continues to play the way that he's playing, they're just going to let that slow
00:58roll.
00:58So if Robert does return at any point this year where he could be a factor for the club, you're
01:03going to have Robert back.
01:04He's probably going to split time at DH, maybe get some outfield reps, but he will not be a guy
01:09playing nearly as much daily outfield as he was to begin the season for the Mets.
01:12Because they're going to want to make sure he can stay healthy.
01:14The Mets can get creative because here's the thing.
01:16A.J. Ewing, he is a very diverse player.
01:18He can play center.
01:19He can play left.
01:19He can play right.
01:20But what can he also comfortably do?
01:22He can play second base for you.
01:23You need him to play shortstop.
01:25He can handle shortstop.
01:26If Marcus doesn't really, like, become this, like, spark plug as we reach the halfway point of the year and
01:32see Robert returns, that could be an avenue where the Mets say, listen, the best guy's got to play.
01:36A.J. Ewing's diversity, I think, is going to be the key X factor in making sure he doesn't go
01:40anywhere.
