00:00:002K Sports pregame show.
00:00:03This is 2K Sports.
00:00:05I'm Ernie Johnson.
00:00:06Welcome to the NBA.
00:00:07We're joined by the legends, Shaquille O'Neal and Kenny the Jet Smith.
00:00:12And coming up in just a bit, tip-off will be live from Oakland
00:00:15as the Warriors go up against the Charlotte Hornets.
00:00:19And for Charlotte, they're looking to come out strong and make their mark early.
00:00:23They have to look at this game as a great opportunity to do just that.
00:00:29And with a few moments here, you know, we've seen a lot of coaching turnover.
00:00:33When you played Shaq, what did you like in a coach, and what set the good ones apart?
00:00:39Well, my coach had to be a triple OC.
00:00:42He had to be over calm, over cool, over collective.
00:00:47You know, especially with all the media whirlwind in L.A., Phil Jackson is that guy.
00:00:52He kept things cool and collected in the locker room.
00:00:54He was a triple OC.
00:00:55Triple OC, almost like a triple OG.
00:00:59But I'll tell you, great coaches have great relationships with their players.
00:01:04And those relationships go far beyond basketball.
00:01:08Most great coaches would talk to you 20% basketball, 80% life.
00:01:14Triple OC, 80-20.
00:01:17Good stuff.
00:01:18Good stuff.
00:01:19Happy to be here with you two guys.
00:01:20It's very deep.
00:01:21Kevin Harlan, take it away.
00:01:23Thanks, homie.
00:01:37The Golden Gate Bridge, not only a national treasure, but a busy thoroughfare as well.
00:01:42Welcome, everyone, to the Golden State.
00:01:44Oakland, California.
00:01:46The home of the Warriors as they prepare for an Eastern Conference opponent right here.
00:01:50Great to have you with us, everybody, live on 2K Sports.
00:01:53I'm Kevin Harlan, and here with me today, Clark Kellogg and Greg Anthony.
00:02:07So the Hornets win the tip.
00:02:09All fueled up and ready to go.
00:02:11Brought to you by Gatorade.
00:02:12Let's check out who's on the floor.
00:02:14Setting the floor for the Hornets.
00:02:16Kidd, Gilchrist, and Williams are at the forward spots.
00:02:19Batum is out there with Kemba Walker, and it's Jefferson in its center.
00:02:23It looks like he bit off a little more than he could chew with that spin move.
00:02:27The Oracle, or Oracle Arena, was rocking last season, and with good reason, the Warriors
00:02:33would finish a league best 39-2 at home last year.
00:02:37And how about that 39-2 record put them one off of time, the best record ever in the NBA.
00:02:43That record, by the way, belongs to the Celtics with 40 wins back in 1986.
00:02:49Now, Kirk, following the miss by Kemba Walker from deep.
00:02:52Boy, but he was close, Kevin, to making the defense pay for lackadaisical coverage there.
00:02:57Yeah, you may not be as lucky next time down if you're the defense.
00:03:01You cannot allow him to get those kinds of looks.
00:03:05Now, here's Curry.
00:03:07Thompson with it.
00:03:08Picked up by Kidd Gilchrist.
00:03:11Here's Curry.
00:03:13Plays it in without an inch of room around him.
00:03:16Curry's got the opening bucket of the night here for the Warriors.
00:03:19The Hornets have gone 0-3 from the field to start the game.
00:03:26Here's Walker.
00:03:27Screen by Jefferson.
00:03:28Williams, a screen on Thompson.
00:03:30Walker goes in, and he gets it to go.
00:03:34You know, the defense has got to do a much better job of fighting over those screens.
00:03:38And, Greg, especially when the ball is in his hands.
00:03:41I mean, come on now.
00:03:42You know he doesn't miss too many open looks like that.
00:03:45Bogus.
00:03:46There's the slam dunk to finish it off.
00:03:48Excellent feed from Steph Curry.
00:03:50Hornets have gone just 1-4 to get this game started.
00:03:54There's a screen by Williams.
00:03:58Jefferson, a screen on Barnes.
00:04:01And Kidd Gilchrist gets it to go in.
00:04:03Nice work on the inside.
00:04:05Hard to get that one up and over the big fella.
00:04:08Well, it's not supposed to be easy down there.
00:04:10And a little artistry on the inside helped him make it happen.
00:04:14He just exudes a love of the game, guys.
00:04:17You can see it in everything he does.
00:04:19This guy lives and breathes the game.
00:04:23Now, here's Walker.
00:04:25Screen by Jefferson.
00:04:30Thompson against Walker.
00:04:35Clock at four.
00:04:39And Thompson sends it back.
00:04:45First quarter of basketball, just over two and a half minutes play.
00:04:49The screen from Thompson.
00:04:52Shoots off the screen.
00:04:53It's rebounded by Jefferson.
00:04:55Very dangerous to leave a guy like that open.
00:04:58Lucky break there for the deep.
00:05:00Now let's find out what head coach Steve Curry had to say to Doris Burke.
00:05:03Doris?
00:05:03I asked him what their focal point would be defensively.
00:05:06And he said that Al Jefferson is at the top of their scouting report.
00:05:10With his smooth, low post repertoire and mid-range shooting touch,
00:05:14he can put up points in a hurry.
00:05:16He said they'll try to steer him to his left hand as much as possible
00:05:20and just hope for the best.
00:05:22Kevin will see if they can force him into a tough night.
00:05:25Thanks again, Doris.
00:05:26It's Curry outside.
00:05:27And the shot is good.
00:05:30Curry's got seven.
00:05:31How about Bogan doing a good job setting that screen?
00:05:36The pass to Walker.
00:05:38Nice pass.
00:05:40Led him to the rack perfectly for the layup.
00:05:42Defensively, that possession better not start a trend
00:05:45because they just handed him two points.
00:05:51Curry against Walker.
00:05:53Thompson in the corner.
00:06:00Fades.
00:06:01Again, the miss by Thompson.
00:06:04It's stolen by Bogut.
00:06:06And lots of contact there.
00:06:09Missing the shot.
00:06:09He'll shoot two.
00:06:10That's on Marvin Williams.
00:06:12Clearly a foul.
00:06:13Yeah, he took a shot there.
00:06:14Earned those free throws.
00:06:21And, you know, looking at Andrew Bogut, he's been one of the game's best centers.
00:06:24I mean, obviously injuries have saddled him a little bit over the years.
00:06:28But he's made it through 67 games each of the past two seasons.
00:06:32Well, going back to Bogut when he's healthy, he's a very difficult matchup for any opponent.
00:06:37Greg, one of the great rebounders and defenders certainly in this game now.
00:06:40He also, though, gives you points from the blocks and with timely putbacks.
00:06:45You know, he's become an unsung hero in a sense.
00:06:49Not the flashy guy who entered the league, but more of a very talented lunch pail kind of guy who
00:06:54simply wants to do his part.
00:06:57And despite some of the injuries over the years, Andrew Bogut, still one of the game's best shot blockers.
00:07:03Averaging well over two and a half a game in his career.
00:07:07And Greg, he protects the rim like few others can.
00:07:10A rugged play.
00:07:11And in last season, almost three block shots per game.
00:07:15And with all the offensive firepower around him, I think it really allows him to play to his strengths.
00:07:21That's why having a great team is about pieces of the puzzle fitting.
00:07:25He's a terrific piece for this group.
00:07:29Green with a screen for Thompson.
00:07:31Back to Green.
00:07:32Three-pointer.
00:07:34That's in.
00:07:35Coming off the assist from Thompson.
00:07:37Green's got his first three points of the game.
00:07:39There's a chance he could have a big game if they don't DM up more tightly on the perimeter.
00:07:45And getting back to Bogut, people forget he's a pretty good athlete.
00:07:48The reason he was drafted number one overall way back when was because of his insane combination of size and
00:07:53movement skills.
00:07:54That's why he remains one of the excellent shot blockers in the league today.
00:08:00Warriors leading by three.
00:08:05Right side curve.
00:08:07Stolen by Walker.
00:08:15The dish to Batum.
00:08:18And that one comes up a bit short.
00:08:21And when you talk about Bogut, I think the Warriors' incredible regular season inspired him.
00:08:27He didn't have to be the star.
00:08:29He just had to anchor that deep.
00:08:32Sometimes when you give a guy a specific task to be the best at, that's what he delivers the most.
00:08:48And guys, what do you think about the offensive approach we've seen so far for the Warriors?
00:08:53You know what, guys?
00:08:54It looks to me like they're really in sync here.
00:08:56All on the same page.
00:08:57They've already got a bunch of assists.
00:08:59And also, it's been a positive to watch that they've attacked the paint offensively as well.
00:09:06It's really been about the balance that they've shown.
00:09:10Now, here's Walker.
00:09:12He has six.
00:09:13Williams can't hit.
00:09:14But, I guess, even he has to miss one of those once in a while.
00:09:19Thompson inside the line.
00:09:21Will not go.
00:09:22This is off the front iron.
00:09:24Hornets trail by six.
00:09:26Clark, some tough offensive sets.
00:09:28They want to turn it around.
00:09:29Yeah, they need a basket just to regain some momentum here, Kevin.
00:09:33And again, the Hornets missing.
00:09:36Holden State's gone two or four from beyond the arc to start the game.
00:09:42Takes the three.
00:09:44Rebound by Williams.
00:09:46I'm shocked that didn't turn into three points.
00:09:49I mean, he makes you pay on those nearly every time.
00:09:55Green against Walker.
00:09:57Kid Gilchrist, a screen on green.
00:10:01Six on the shot clock.
00:10:04Williams kicks to Batum.
00:10:06That's a two-pointer from Walker.
00:10:08And that one hits back iron.
00:10:10Tell you what, they haven't wasted any time getting into the swing of things on the boards.
00:10:14And even this early, that's a good omen for the rest of the game.
00:10:18A three from Barnes, but they get it back.
00:10:21The second effort goes up again.
00:10:24And Jefferson sends it back.
00:10:28At the elbow, it's Kid Gilchrist.
00:10:30The shot's good on the assist by Walker.
00:10:33Clearly, he's one of the best there is in the business when it comes to making that lead pass.
00:10:39And for Big Al Jefferson, he's been a great player in this league.
00:10:43But he hasn't played on that many great teams.
00:10:47And he's never made an all-star team.
00:10:49Hard to imagine.
00:10:50You ask him a great player.
00:11:05Instead of making that lead, he already knows where he stands.
00:11:05By for
00:11:13he's not by you. I'm to
00:11:13never made an all-star team. They are the
00:11:13ones calling me. It's like
00:11:13that. And he's
00:11:14never made to any trouble. He's never
00:11:14من a year. He's one
00:11:19of them chicks. I can't
00:11:31Different look here for the Warriors.
00:11:33Spate's checked in for Bogut.
00:11:35Iguodala comes in for Harrison Barnes.
00:11:38Leandro Barbosa, he's checked in for Thompson.
00:11:40And it's Livingston in for Steph Curry.
00:11:43So an almost entirely new group in now for Charlotte.
00:11:47Kaminsky, he's checked in for Jefferson.
00:11:48Seller comes in for Marvin Williams.
00:11:51Lamb, he's checked in for Kit Gilchrist.
00:11:53And it's Jeremy Lin in for Kemba Walker.
00:11:55Here is Livingston.
00:11:58Second shot opportunity.
00:12:00Some solid defense there from Lin.
00:12:03Terrific job that time defending at the rim.
00:12:06I mean, it's not an easy task stopping that fella
00:12:09when he's headed to the bucket like that.
00:12:11Good job.
00:12:12Now here's Lamb trailing by four.
00:12:15And that is good.
00:12:21Golden State's gotten just two of six to fall
00:12:24from three-point range so far in the first.
00:12:28Here's Livingston.
00:12:30The shot is off.
00:12:31And Charlotte will go the other way with it.
00:12:34And already we've got a very lopsided edge
00:12:36on the boards for them.
00:12:37Yeah, plus five.
00:12:38As you mentioned, that didn't take very long, did it?
00:12:43And stolen by Speaks.
00:12:46And here we go with Barbosa.
00:12:48Head into the hoop and laid in to finish the break.
00:12:51And the Warriors lead by four.
00:12:53How about the way he's able to angle his body
00:12:56to shield the big fella off and still get the finish?
00:12:59You've got to be clever with your sleight of hand
00:13:02when you get inside and try to finish against the bigger guys.
00:13:05And he made it look easy that time.
00:13:09And so here's Charlotte.
00:13:10The Warriors making the shot.
00:13:13The Hornets need to get a shot off here.
00:13:16Lynn.
00:13:17An absolute bomb from three-point range.
00:13:21Lynn's got himself going there.
00:13:23His first points of the game on the deep ball.
00:13:28Here is Livingston.
00:13:30Defended by Lynn.
00:13:31Green, the screen.
00:13:34Got a piece of it.
00:13:35And stolen by Zeller.
00:13:40Outside, Lynn.
00:13:52This is the land.
00:13:53Shot clock at five.
00:13:55Kaminsky kicks to Batum.
00:13:58On loads.
00:13:59And the go-ahead bucket.
00:14:01No good.
00:14:02The Warriors lead it.
00:14:04And Leandro Barbosa gets the whistle that time.
00:14:07That is his first foul of the game.
00:14:09And the Warriors making a change here.
00:14:12Azeli's checked in.
00:14:13Vestas, Azeli.
00:14:19Charlotte is gone.
00:14:20Just one of four from three-point range here in the first.
00:14:23Lynn kicks to Batum.
00:14:29There's the pick.
00:14:31Pick by Zeller.
00:14:36Outside, Lynn.
00:14:37Shot clock at six.
00:14:39And it's Kaminsky top of the key.
00:14:43Offline from the top of the key.
00:14:45Last season, the Charlotte Hornets had a dreadful offense.
00:14:48Worst effective field goal percentage.
00:14:51Clark in the league.
00:14:51Effective field goal percentage being your field goal percentage with the value of the shot back in.
00:14:57And, again, more analytics for us to look at.
00:14:59Yeah, and this is a way to break down that analytic in an abbreviated fashion.
00:15:04E field goal percentage is a pretty good indicator of how good your offense is.
00:15:09And for the Hornets, their league worst in terms of field goal efficiency.
00:15:14And for the Hornets, their league worst effective field goal percentage means they didn't take a lot of threes.
00:15:20And they still missed a ton of shots.
00:15:23And, guys, that's a recipe for disaster.
00:15:38We'll see you next time.
00:15:56And you're the Warriors girls.
00:16:10Hornets trail by four.
00:16:12Boy, I tell you, you take a look at the Hornets roster from last year,
00:16:15and a lot of players shot under 40% from the floor.
00:16:19Not end of the rotation guys either.
00:16:21I mean, players that saw heavy minutes just casting up brick after brick.
00:16:26Boy, what a slick job of passing from Jeremy Lin on that one.
00:16:33Here is Livingston, defended by Lin.
00:16:38It's Leandro Barbosa on the way.
00:16:41He has five.
00:16:43Five to shoot.
00:16:49And it goes as the official calls the foul.
00:16:53Down it.
00:16:53We'll shoot one more at the free throw line.
00:16:56No hesitation at all right there.
00:16:58Just right up against a much bigger defender.
00:17:01Man, and I love that fearlessness, that aggressive attitude.
00:17:04Boy, I love watching guys play with that kind of abandon and freedom, Greg.
00:17:09It's a beautiful thing, man.
00:17:10First trip to the free throw line for him tonight.
00:17:17Free throw drops for Barbosa.
00:17:19It's been a good one for Barbosa.
00:17:21He already has eight points, and he's chalked up one three-pointer on the day as well.
00:17:25And Clark, I'm sure that won't be the last one.
00:17:28A lot of times, he can get hot and stay hot from beyond.
00:17:361-0-5 left to play here in the first.
00:17:39Livingston, that's good.
00:17:40That's a clean look they gave him there, fellas, and he drains those.
00:17:46Lin kicks to Lamb.
00:17:51Picked by Zeller.
00:17:53Back to Lin.
00:17:54And there's Zeller.
00:17:56That's good on the assist by Lin.
00:17:58Zeller's got his second basket.
00:18:00And good passing, setting up a lot of these buckets right now, Kevin.
00:18:04That's been the key.
00:18:06Dime-dropping delights, is what I call it.
00:18:09Yeah, that's a nice pass.
00:18:10I will give you that one.
00:18:11Yeah, he was on the money.
00:18:12There's no doubt.
00:18:13And Speaks gets it to go.
00:18:15Just no chance for the smaller defender to block that shot.
00:18:19He's really, really good at using his size to free himself up for those mid-range jumpers.
00:18:24A master at it.
00:18:25Now, here's Lamb.
00:18:27No scoring yet from him, but that's likely to change the shot by Kaminsky.
00:18:32Nobody around.
00:18:34A three-pointer, no good.
00:18:36You know, a team's rebounding is one of the great measures of its energy, and theirs has been terrific in
00:18:41the first quarter.
00:18:42Yeah, they brought it in terms of having another level of intensity right from the tip.
00:18:50Lynn can't get it to go.
00:18:53And that does it for the first quarter.
00:18:55Warriors lead by seven.
00:18:57We've got more NBA basketball coming your way in just a minute.
00:19:02And I can't quit.
00:19:03All I know is...
00:19:22And before the game, we heard from Kemba Walker.
00:19:25He talked about his mentality when he steps out out of the floor.
00:19:32Play free.
00:19:33You know, just feel like playing streetball.
00:19:35Just have fun.
00:19:35Just play the game that you've been playing, you know, forever.
00:19:39You know, he may be having fun, but I'm not so sure playing streetball is really working out for Kemba.
00:19:43He needs to shoot better than 38% for the Hornets to go anywhere, doesn't he?
00:19:47I'd have to agree with you.
00:19:49I mean, what might be better than continuing to play the same game you've been playing forever is to take
00:19:54your game to a new level.
00:19:55And that's going to take some discipline.
00:19:58I think Kemba has more than enough talent to be able to do that.
00:20:03But that's his challenge moving forward.
00:20:07And now the second quarter just getting set to start.
00:20:10And the Warriors, guys, what jumps out to you in this game?
00:20:13Stats-wise.
00:20:14I just really like what we're seeing from a defensive standpoint.
00:20:17Forcing a lot of turnovers with those quick hands.
00:20:20Yeah, those active hands, Greg, have produced a number of steals early.
00:20:24They've been very aggressive.
00:20:26So on the floor for Charlotte to start this second quarter.
00:20:29Jefferson is out there with Spencer Hawes.
00:20:32Then it's Jeremy Lin.
00:20:33And there's Kemba Walker.
00:20:35And it's Kid Gilchrist in at the three slots.
00:20:38And watching Kemba Walker play, so explosive.
00:20:42An undersized four-general.
00:20:44Nasty crossover.
00:20:45Really a scorer's mentality.
00:20:48Maybe too much of a scorer's mentality to ever be a great assist man.
00:20:52And Green, he's checked in for Golden State.
00:21:05Kemba Walker hits them both.
00:21:08Ah, Greg talking about Walker.
00:21:09You have to love the way he competes.
00:21:11His willingness, Clark, to put the team on his shoulders and carry him.
00:21:14Love that competitive spirit of his.
00:21:16They're actually figuring out how to use him best.
00:21:18But he's such a dynamic offensive player.
00:21:20You've got to give him room to be creative at that end.
00:21:25Hornets trail by five.
00:21:31The Warriors pull it in.
00:21:34Bogut's got four rebounds in this game.
00:21:39And Thompson kicks to Bogut.
00:21:44Three-pointer.
00:21:45And there's Thompson.
00:21:46That's good on the assist by Curry.
00:21:49Curry's got three assists tonight.
00:21:51Just reliable, guys.
00:21:53He's just always trying to make the right play.
00:21:57Now, here's Walker.
00:21:58He's got eight.
00:22:00To the paint.
00:22:01Here's Hawes.
00:22:03Green with the rebound.
00:22:05Green's got his third rebound tonight.
00:22:09Curry kicks to Thompson.
00:22:12It's Curry with the drive.
00:22:15And he can't extend the lead to double digits.
00:22:17Hornets trail by eight.
00:22:19Guys, they're looking for a way to score here.
00:22:21Yeah, they've had a tough time getting the lid off the basket so far.
00:22:26Shots good by Jefferson.
00:22:27I think they need to get much more disruptive defensively.
00:22:30They can't just keep allowing these easy baskets.
00:22:33That's got to be job number one right now.
00:22:36Nothing easy.
00:22:37On the inside.
00:22:39It's close.
00:22:40But, you know, didn't get on balance quick enough.
00:22:43Yeah, and as quick as players are at this level, in this day and age,
00:22:47I mean, you've got to be perfect in your anticipation to draw the charge.
00:22:54We're now about two minutes into the second quarter.
00:23:00On the wing, Thompson.
00:23:02Defended by Lynn.
00:23:03Here's Bogut.
00:23:04Banked in off the glass.
00:23:06Bogut's got his second basket of the night.
00:23:10Hornets trail by eight.
00:23:15Now, here's Walker.
00:23:20Down low.
00:23:22Here's Hawes.
00:23:22And he was fouled on the way up.
00:23:24Two free throws now for him.
00:23:26And, guys, Spencer Hawes signed a four-year, $23 million contract with the Clippers prior to last season.
00:23:33Not sure the Clippers felt like they got their money's worth.
00:23:36He did improve a little bit in the playoffs.
00:23:39There still may be some hope for him in L.A.
00:23:40Well, I'd have to agree with you, Kevin.
00:23:42I mean, he had some moments, but on the season, shot a career low from the foul line, as well
00:23:47as in several other areas.
00:23:49And getting back to Spencer Hawes, he actually stayed pretty healthy last season.
00:23:53He had, obviously, one of the best point guards in the NBA feeding him the basketball.
00:23:58But, for some reason, Hawes couldn't hit even 40% of his shots.
00:24:07And both free throws good by Hawes.
00:24:09Well, you look at Hawes' big contract deal last season.
00:24:12Let's be fair about it.
00:24:13I mean, that happened after he posted some of his best-ever career averages the year before.
00:24:18That's why, if you're front-off as tight, you wish you had a crystal ball.
00:24:23Marvin Williams has checked in for Spencer Hawes.
00:24:37Curry passes to Thompson.
00:24:39And a great assist by Curry as that one goes in.
00:24:43Thompson's got the lead up to eight now for the Warriors.
00:24:49Jefferson, a screen on Thompson.
00:24:52Here's Walker.
00:24:53And, again, the Hornets missing.
00:24:55And they're controlling the boards, Kevin.
00:24:57That's plus five in that category.
00:24:59And, guys, you know that rebounding is a huge part, a huge component of winning games.
00:25:05It's not a glamour stat, but it's necessary if you're going to be a winning team.
00:25:09And, really, it looks like he may just try to take this thing over on his own and really build
00:25:15that lead up.
00:25:15And, really, the Warriors had an amazing regular season last year.
00:25:21Just from a historical standpoint, it was one of the best ever.
00:25:24And, really, it looks like it was one of the best reasons for letting go.
00:25:43And, finally, it's a hotel and I still may be able to honor the Ka increases playingoughing it.
00:25:44If it younger, the Warriors have即 Arbeit laying, but that's veryποiv iceberg.
00:25:44We haven't represented here, in the Hey um.
00:25:44And this is not a deep ending.
00:25:48We don't know the T-shirt band.
00:25:48It's hot all right.
00:25:49But this is Soldier.
00:25:51Well, it looks like I really need because it might poke it up.
00:25:54And then, just to show you how you do it.
00:26:06Here we go, your Warriors girls.
00:26:23Warnets trail by 10.
00:26:25And for the Warriors last year, they would end the season with 67 wins.
00:26:29That number, Clark tying for the sixth best win total in NBA history.
00:26:33And my guess is only a few people saw it coming.
00:26:35I mean, as the season wore on, it became more and more apparent that the Warriors were for real.
00:26:41But it took a while for people to accept that fact.
00:26:44Now here is Bogut, following the miss by Al Jefferson.
00:26:51Thompson outside, back to Curry, fires for three.
00:26:54It's rebounded by Jefferson.
00:26:57Jefferson's got three rebounds now in this one.
00:27:00This touch has disappeared on him this quarter.
00:27:02He just hasn't been able to get it going.
00:27:08Curry with it.
00:27:09Nine points in the game so far.
00:27:12Green with a screen for Barnes.
00:27:15There's a screen.
00:27:17Ashton Thompson.
00:27:19Misses the three.
00:27:21And no excuse there for missing that one after being freed up by a great pick.
00:27:26Yeah, I agree with you.
00:27:27I mean, they came away empty, but they got the look they wanted.
00:27:30And really, I like the movement and communication there.
00:27:34Now Lynn, after the miss three from Klay Thompson.
00:27:38And the Hornets miss again.
00:27:44Some nice passing by Golden State.
00:27:46And the wide open shot from Green.
00:27:48It's rebounded by Charlotte.
00:27:51Walker's got four rebounds now tonight.
00:27:56Lynn against Curry.
00:28:01Here's Walker.
00:28:03No good.
00:28:04And they can't put an end to this drought.
00:28:06Just not much success when it comes to shooting.
00:28:13Thompson outside.
00:28:14Green to screen.
00:28:19Thompson against Lynn.
00:28:21Thompson dishes to Bogut.
00:28:22Down to five on the shot clock.
00:28:24On its way from Curry for two.
00:28:27Drops one in from the wing.
00:28:28Curry's got four points now in the quarter.
00:28:31And so here's Charlotte.
00:28:33Down by 12.
00:28:35Guys are looking for a spark here.
00:28:37Yeah, I mean, a cold stretch offensively.
00:28:39They desperately need a basket.
00:28:41And Walker kicks to Williams.
00:28:43Kid Gilchrist, the best to Jefferson.
00:28:47In watching Al Jefferson over the years,
00:28:49he can be dominant and be efficient in doing it.
00:28:53For all the points he's piled up,
00:28:55he's always been around a 50% shooter.
00:28:57And for all the times he's handled the ball,
00:28:59his turnover rate is relatively low.
00:29:02So that's giving your team good quality possessions.
00:29:05First trip to the free throw line for him in this one.
00:29:07You know, this is not an area where they expect him to contribute.
00:29:11You know, he's a guy that's shot below 70% last season.
00:29:15And, you know, that's not the kind of percentage
00:29:17any player wants to see next to his name at the end of the season.
00:29:29Good on the second free throw.
00:29:31And working, Kevin, themselves to the line here in the second.
00:29:34A nice way to get your offense going.
00:29:37And maybe cause some foul trouble along the way as well.
00:29:40And we know what that can do.
00:29:42It pays off typically in good fashion for you.
00:29:45And you can tell they're just a little out of sync.
00:29:48I think he just wants to get everybody back on the same page.
00:29:51Yeah, I like this timeout, Greg.
00:29:53I think it's a good one because
00:29:54it looks like they need a minute to talk things through here.
00:30:01Bye.
00:30:02Bye.
00:31:06And it's Lynn with the rebound.
00:31:08That's not the type of opportunity he fails to convert very often.
00:31:16Walker against Thompson.
00:31:18Screened by Jefferson.
00:31:23Outside Williams.
00:31:24They set the pick.
00:31:26Back to Walker.
00:31:28Just four to shoot.
00:31:29The three.
00:31:32And once again, off the mark by Charlotte.
00:31:35He's been anything but his usual self this quarter.
00:31:38It's actually been ugly to see.
00:31:40A shot by Thompson.
00:31:42No one's around.
00:31:43And it's Thompson again missing.
00:31:45He continues to struggle from the field.
00:31:48But luckily for him and his team, his teammates have been able to pick him up and get the job
00:31:53done.
00:31:54Now here's Lynn.
00:32:07And he didn't get quite enough under that one.
00:32:10Passes it to Barnes.
00:32:13Shot is off.
00:32:15Some solid defense there from Lynn.
00:32:18And Walker kicks to Lynn.
00:32:20Feeds it to Williams.
00:32:24Pass to Jefferson.
00:32:26Pulls up on the wing.
00:32:28Warriors with the rebound.
00:32:30Thompson's got his fifth rebound in this one.
00:32:33He kicks it to Curry.
00:32:36Back to Thompson.
00:32:39Lands soft on the front of the rim.
00:32:40And drops.
00:32:41Thompson's got seven points for the quarter.
00:32:44Boy, they've gone on this run and ball movement has been a big key.
00:32:47It really has, Clark.
00:32:48The defense unable to react as quickly as necessary in terms of dealing with their passing.
00:32:54Put your hands together.
00:32:55You remember Clay Thompson's father, Michael Thompson, a former number one pick out of Minnesota.
00:33:00Growing up, he was the smallest of his brothers and thereby took his lumps when they played hoops.
00:33:07But he said that challenge helped him to develop into the player he is today.
00:33:39And the Warriors with a completely new team.
00:33:42So, an almost entirely new group in now for Charlotte.
00:33:47Kaminsky is checked in for Jefferson.
00:33:49Cody Zeller comes in for Marvin Williams.
00:33:51Jeremy Lamb's checked in for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
00:33:54And it's Batum in for Jeremy Lynn.
00:33:57And Clay Thompson, born into an athletic family.
00:34:00His father, the former number one overall pick in the NBA draft.
00:34:03And Clark, his mom, was a Division I volleyball player.
00:34:06And, you know, Thompson, despite those genes, was not a highly recruited player out of high school.
00:34:11Who grew up in UCLA's backyard, but ended up playing college ball at Washington State.
00:34:16And the shot clock expires.
00:34:1824-second violation.
00:34:33So, it's the Warriors now.
00:34:39And here is Barbosa.
00:34:40He's got eight.
00:34:44Kicks to space to the wing on the left.
00:34:48Golden State moving it around.
00:34:50Iguodala gets the bucket.
00:34:51And an open path to the hoop there.
00:34:54Easy bucket.
00:34:55We've seen that far too many times today.
00:35:01Walker dishes to Lamb.
00:35:04Picked by Zeller.
00:35:09Now, here's Lamb.
00:35:11He's guarded closely.
00:35:12Five on the clock.
00:35:14The feed to Walker.
00:35:15For the three.
00:35:18The rebound by Azealy.
00:35:20Oh, a tough quarter for him offensively.
00:35:23He hasn't been able to give his team a lift when they need it.
00:35:27Iguodala, the pass to Livingston.
00:35:36He feeds it to Barbosa.
00:35:39That drops and it comes off the assist from Livingston.
00:35:42Barbosa's got 11 points.
00:35:44And as they continue to just dominate this game, you have to wonder how much can they win by?
00:35:50Well, it's on the verge of getting out of hand, Greg.
00:35:53You can feel it.
00:35:54You can see it.
00:35:55In part because the defense has been about as good as the offense.
00:35:59And both have been really good.
00:36:01And the Hornets with possession here.
00:36:03After the Warriors pick up three.
00:36:04Got a piece of it.
00:36:05And they force the shot clock violation.
00:36:08Great team.
00:36:18And it's the Warriors ball.
00:36:20They're on an 18-5 run here.
00:36:26Here is Livingston.
00:36:27He dishes it to Iguodala.
00:36:30Spates sets a screen.
00:36:34Takes a big-type house and goes in.
00:36:37And they've done a great job of just keeping the pressure up on the scoreboard.
00:36:41And that's why they're starting to pull away.
00:36:43I mean, not becoming conservative at all.
00:36:46Just adding to the lead.
00:36:47I love seeing a team do that.
00:36:50Now, here's Walker.
00:36:51He's got eight.
00:36:53Back to Batum.
00:36:54After two misses to start the game, he's on the board with that shot made.
00:36:59And Steve Clifford might not be the most famous coach in the NBA.
00:37:04But he has plenty of experience.
00:37:06And everyone in the league knows exactly how well-versed he is as a coach.
00:37:11Here's Iguodala.
00:37:14Livingston picks to Barbosa.
00:37:18From 11 feet away, offensive rebound.
00:37:21Spates off target at the rim.
00:37:23And one thing I liked in the first quarter was their aggressiveness to draw the contact,
00:37:28putting the defense on the defensive.
00:37:31Yeah, exactly.
00:37:32And I think they need to continue to press that advantage.
00:37:35They've got to get back to that.
00:37:36Don't go away from that.
00:37:37That it's been working so well for them.
00:37:39Stay with it.
00:37:40Dan Clifford in his third year now as head coach, Greg.
00:37:43That experience you were just talking about.
00:37:45He has 29 years of coaching under his belt.
00:37:48He's a Van Gundy disciple.
00:37:50Clark was on the coaching staff for both brothers.
00:37:52Yeah, and he's been with a lot of teams, Kevin.
00:37:5413 seasons as an assistant for the Lakers, Rockets, Magic, and Knicks.
00:37:59Now, here's Walker.
00:38:01And the baseline jumper, no good.
00:38:03He's giving them little to nothing at the offensive end.
00:38:06I can't put it any other way.
00:38:12Here is Livingston.
00:38:13To the middle.
00:38:14Here's Barbosa.
00:38:16And it's good.
00:38:17Assisting on the play with Livingston.
00:38:19Livingston's got three assists tonight.
00:38:21Boy, they keep hammering away at him inside.
00:38:24Forcing that ball into the plate.
00:38:25Smash mouth basketball.
00:38:27And Clark, it's a strategy that has served them well
00:38:30during the course of this first half.
00:38:32Nice job coming off that screen.
00:38:34Ten points for Kemba Walker.
00:38:36Oh, what an ugly start to this quarter.
00:38:39Only one of eight from the field.
00:38:45Iguodala outside.
00:38:48The pass to Spates.
00:38:52The three.
00:38:54Another three for Golden State.
00:38:57You can't afford to get him that kind of a look.
00:39:00Well, you know, he came off a good screen.
00:39:02But still, as a defender, you've got to do a better job of fighting over and through that.
00:39:06Just one second between the shot clock and game clock.
00:39:09Walker goes in.
00:39:14Now, here's Lamb.
00:39:16Clock at six.
00:39:21Here's Zeller.
00:39:22And that one's on target from the wing.
00:39:25Zeller's got six.
00:39:28Livingston.
00:39:29Shot is off.
00:39:31And so, a pretty lopsided game through the first half.
00:39:33The Warriors on top, leading by 17.
00:39:38And now, we'll send it down to Doris Burke, who's standing by courtside.
00:39:42Thank you, Kevin.
00:39:43Andre, what has been the underlying principle of how you and the team have taken the floor tonight?
00:39:48Communication.
00:39:49Communication doesn't show up on the stat sheet.
00:39:51But in order for us to be a good team, everyone has to be on the same page.
00:39:54And we're doing it tonight.
00:39:55Andre, thank you.
00:39:56Kevin, one of those intangibles you always look to.
00:39:59Thank you for the great interview, Doris.
00:40:01We'll be back for the third quarter of basketball following halftime.
00:40:06It's the 2K Sports Halftime Show.
00:40:15Hey, again, everybody.
00:40:16We've been watching a pretty lopsided game through the first half, that's for sure.
00:40:21I'm Ernie Johnson, joined again by Shaquille O'Neal and Kenny the Jet Smith.
00:40:24So, it's Golden State who's out on top at the half.
00:40:27They are way out in front, leading by 17.
00:40:31Starting with Kenny, your take.
00:40:33There's been one thing that's made a difference in this game above all else.
00:40:37Their control of the backboard.
00:40:39They put forth an amazing effort on the glass, and the rebounding numbers aren't even close, Ernie.
00:40:45That'll be something to keep an eye on in the second half.
00:40:47They will be very tough to contain if that continues.
00:40:51Shaq, let's get your insight on Charlotte.
00:40:53Ernie, they are way too weak defensively in the paint.
00:40:56They're getting walked over down low, giving up a ton of points.
00:41:00Barbecue chicken everywhere, with the sauce, without the sauce.
00:41:04We're having a Thanksgiving feast in here.
00:41:06That's a recipe for disaster.
00:41:08They cannot keep letting guys drive the lane, layups, lobs.
00:41:12Defense is weak, Ernie.
00:41:14And now, folks, it's just about time for the third quarter to begin.
00:41:18We will see you after the final buzzer.
00:41:31Oracle Arena, let's keep it going.
00:41:33We're getting back to the action now.
00:41:34It's been a one-team show so far.
00:41:37We'll see if that changes here in the third.
00:41:39One of the stories here, Leandro Barbosa getting it done today.
00:41:43You just love it when the decision-making is as good as it was there in that first half.
00:41:49Didn't force anything.
00:41:50Guys, I think here in the second half, though, they may want him to be a little more assertive.
00:41:55Start hunting more for his shot, even the tough one.
00:42:27We'll see you next time.
00:42:39We'll see you next time.
00:43:04The defensive stalwarts, Green and Bogut, are down low.
00:43:07He adds the Splash Brothers, Curry and Thompson, at the guard spots.
00:43:10And it's Barnes, and at the three, the small forward.
00:43:13That's the Warriors' five.
00:43:15A nice bounce-back year for Harrison Barnes.
00:43:18Clark in year three moved into the starting lineup last year and really responded.
00:43:22Yeah, he did.
00:43:22I think he benefited from the new system.
00:43:24He was miscast as an isolation scorer.
00:43:26But when he can spot up for threes and catch the ball on the move, that's his game.
00:43:31With one second left, and Walker with the layup.
00:43:35Walker's got the first bucket of the third here for the Hornets.
00:43:38Great way to start to have easy layup against some soft D.
00:43:44Curry attacking.
00:43:47It's rebounded by Charlotte.
00:43:50I'll tell you what.
00:43:51Harrison Barnes, very athletic.
00:43:53He certainly passes the eye test.
00:43:56And with his size, he can punish smaller wings and create mismatches.
00:44:02And then also, he can play some small ball power forward at times as well with the way they like
00:44:08to space the floor.
00:44:12And you talk about Harrison Barnes overall.
00:44:15He had a nice uptick in his rebounding last year.
00:44:19And that was a goal of his.
00:44:20He wanted to get his activity level up.
00:44:22And oftentimes, the difference between being good and great is just making those small incremental improvements in different facets of
00:44:30your game.
00:44:42That one is no good.
00:44:44After making it to the playoffs in 2014, the Hornets couldn't repeat their feet in 2015.
00:44:50A slow start, probably, Greg, more than anything else did him in.
00:44:54Really disappointing season coming in with such high expectations.
00:44:59And 33-49, just not good enough to get into the playoffs in any season.
00:45:07Walker with it.
00:45:0912 points for him.
00:45:1413 feet away.
00:45:16And a big bounce off the rim, but it sinks right in.
00:45:20Walker's got four points in the quarter.
00:45:23You know, for the Hornets, they've not made consecutive playoff appearances since the team moved to New Orleans back in
00:45:282002.
00:45:29They just haven't been able to stay consistent enough to make it to the playoffs back-to-back years.
00:45:35And they're one of four here to start the second half.
00:45:38There's the dish to Williams.
00:45:40Wasted no time on that shot, but it's off the mark.
00:45:43You know, so many games are decided by which team wins the rebound battle.
00:45:47And that's held true in this one so far.
00:45:49And Clark, their effort on the glass has given them the advantage, but it's also been the effort in general
00:45:56that's made a difference.
00:45:58And, guys, what's rough for the Hornets is that they were a consistent playoff fixture in the late 90s.
00:46:05Still, the team has never made it to the conference finals in its franchise history, and that should be a
00:46:10goal for them in the coming years.
00:46:12Five on the clock.
00:46:16That's a two-pointer from Walker.
00:46:18Steph Curry with the rebound.
00:46:20That's one he knows he should have drank.
00:46:26Dishes it to Barnes.
00:46:32Pass to Green.
00:46:33Out to Thompson.
00:46:35Screen by Bogut.
00:46:37Off the pick.
00:46:39No good.
00:46:40And Charlotte will go the other way with it.
00:46:44Walker dishes to Batum.
00:46:47And Walker kicks to Williams.
00:46:52Passes it to Batum.
00:46:55Here's Jefferson.
00:46:57Solid play in the low block, and that one's good.
00:46:59Jefferson's got eight points.
00:47:02Warriors leading by 15.
00:47:17Okay, fans, put your hands together for your Warriors game.
00:48:04And the Hornets making a change here.
00:48:07And's checked in.
00:48:24Just under three and a half minutes played here in the third quarter.
00:48:30Now, Green.
00:48:31He has six.
00:48:36Wide side Curry.
00:48:37Six to shoot.
00:48:38For three.
00:48:42And Bogut slams it in.
00:48:44And just scrapes and claws for that offensive rebound.
00:48:48And doesn't take any chances there with the putback.
00:48:51And G.A.'s strong work all around.
00:48:53And the rebound and the stuff both.
00:48:55Wow.
00:48:56Yep.
00:48:56He stayed with it all the way and got his reward at the end.
00:49:00And stolen by Barnes.
00:49:02And now Barnes running the floor all by.
00:49:05Oh!
00:49:10It's as if the defense just let him go.
00:49:13He'll thank them for that because he got a chance to perform a little razzle-dazzle on that one.
00:49:18And that was Kia bringing you the close-up on the big-time play.
00:49:22Here's Jefferson.
00:49:23The Warriors making the shot.
00:49:28And here is Kidd Gilchrist.
00:49:34Here's Lynn.
00:49:36Shoots off the screen.
00:49:38And that's collected by Bogut.
00:49:41Bogut's got nine rebounds now tonight.
00:49:44Plus eight in the rebound differential.
00:49:46One more reason why they're in control.
00:49:49Yeah.
00:49:49Double-digit advantage on the scoreboard.
00:49:51They've taken the initiative.
00:49:53They've played, I think, with more purpose so far.
00:49:57And here is Lynn after the three-pointer from Stephen Curry.
00:50:02Picked by Williams.
00:50:04Kidd Gilchrist.
00:50:05The pass to Lynn.
00:50:10Misses off the right iron.
00:50:12Boy, he shredded the D with the patented crossover but just couldn't convert.
00:50:16Curry dishes to Thompson.
00:50:18Back to Curry.
00:50:21Let's it go from the wing.
00:50:24And the rebound goes to the Hornets.
00:50:27Jefferson's got his fifth rebound right now in the game.
00:50:34Outside.
00:50:34Lynn.
00:50:36Feeds to Williams.
00:50:38To halt the run.
00:50:39And the Hornets miss again.
00:50:41Warriors leading by 22.
00:50:44And Curry, here we go.
00:50:48Thompson misses.
00:50:49Well, you know, they're in the lead, but he's still been frustrated from an offensive standpoint.
00:50:54Williams kicks to Lynn.
00:50:58Here's Jefferson.
00:50:59And it's good.
00:51:01Walk through contact.
00:51:02It's the shot.
00:51:02He'll go to the free throw line.
00:51:05And, you know, he's enjoyed the kind of day you expect in terms of shooting the basketball.
00:51:10He can bring them right back into this game.
00:51:18Spencer Hawes has checked in for Charlotte.
00:51:20And let's get your take, guys, and the hustle stats for the Warriors.
00:51:24Their defense has been outstanding.
00:51:27Closing out on shots and blocking a few as well.
00:51:31Something that's also benefited them tonight are the turnovers they forced.
00:51:35And the points that have come along with those forced turnovers.
00:51:39Now, here's Green.
00:51:40Six points for him.
00:51:42Foul call that time on the way up.
00:51:43That'll give him two chances at the free throw line here.
00:51:46So many great statistics are available to demonstrate just how dominant the Warriors were last season.
00:51:52My favorite is, G.A., their point differential.
00:51:56You know, to be able to beat your opponent by double digits on average is something only eight teams have
00:52:01been able to do in the history of the league.
00:52:04It's amazing.
00:52:06Guys, the Warriors ended the year at just over a ten-point differential per game.
00:52:13I mean, still that number is staggering when you think of what it takes to achieve that mark over the
00:52:18course of a season.
00:52:18Typically, championship teams are somewhere in the plus-six to plus-eight range.
00:52:23Ten is off the charts.
00:52:25And he makes the first but misses the second.
00:52:28And you know what?
00:52:29That Warriors point differential was helped out a lot by their play at home.
00:52:34The home differential was almost plus-15 points per game.
00:52:38A lot of blowout wins.
00:52:40Scary thing is they set their starters in the fourth so often,
00:52:43they could have made those numbers even higher had they won it.
00:52:46Here's Curry after Jeremy Lin's bucket.
00:52:51Curry attacking.
00:52:53And he gets it to go.
00:52:55Curry's got 16 points.
00:52:57He's their go-to guy.
00:52:58When he shoots the ball like he has today,
00:53:00that's what the scoreboard usually looks like.
00:53:12Okay, men, put your hands together for your Warriors girls.
00:53:19They're going to be my Warriors.
00:53:19They're going to be my sergeant on Ben'sTO Hill.
00:53:35They're going to be my Warriors.
00:53:38They're going to be my Warriors changer.
00:53:38They're going to be my geht Providez.
00:53:38They're going to be my qualifies the Tsun maduge sipping player.
00:53:38They're going to be my
00:53:39Det Δ on the right size and a thin requirements ق
00:53:39I need you too.
00:53:47So with one of the restrictions I'm going to be my chi- nehme,
00:54:00Spates check in for Andrew Bolt.
00:54:03Boris Spates!
00:54:20Screen by Jefferson.
00:54:27That's another one for him, his fifth in just seven shots.
00:54:32No doubt about it, he has done a ton to help his team,
00:54:36but he's going to have to do even more if they want to have a chance to get back in
00:54:39this.
00:54:40Now is Curry. 16 points for him.
00:54:44Last season, Draymond Green taking over the starting power forward role in Golden State.
00:54:49Last season, David Lee was injured, remember, in preseason.
00:54:52Green was inserted, and he's been terrific ever since.
00:54:56Absolutely superb. A former second-round pick.
00:54:58His emergence has fueled this team's rise to greatness.
00:55:03And I really have always felt Draymond Green was one of those unique players.
00:55:07I mean, he's kind of a tweener in terms of that small forward, power forward at only 6'7".
00:55:12But he's got toughness. The long arms enable him to defend bigger guys.
00:55:17And also the basketball IQ.
00:55:19You can never discount the importance of understanding what you're doing when you're on the floor.
00:55:24The Warriors making a switch here.
00:55:26Higudal is checked in.
00:55:28Both free throws good from Green.
00:55:31And with Draymond Green, he can defend inside.
00:55:33He can cover on the perimeter.
00:55:35I mean, his versatility at both ends of the floor also a huge asset.
00:55:40And you can't have a higher basketball IQ than he does.
00:55:45It really helps him excel at all facets of the game.
00:55:48Six on the shot clock.
00:55:50Here's Kid Gilchrist.
00:55:52Warriors with the rebound.
00:55:53They have been board dominant in this game.
00:55:57That's definitely been a factor in crafting this huge lead.
00:56:00And it's been a well-rounded performance.
00:56:02I mean, strong rebounding has certainly been at the center of it.
00:56:06But it's been good on a number of levels.
00:56:08Now here's Lynn.
00:56:09After the miss from Klay Thompson.
00:56:12Lynn the pass to Kid Gilchrist.
00:56:14Can't get it to go.
00:56:16Warriors leading by 20.
00:56:18Here's Thompson looking to get back on track here.
00:56:21So the whistle blows on the shot and two free throws for the contact right there.
00:56:26And guys, last season Klay Thompson made his first all-star trip overall.
00:56:31Clark, his game took a huge leap forward.
00:56:33Hey, I agree with you, Kevin.
00:56:34And a big reason for that, I think, was his spot on Team USA.
00:56:39Playing the way he did and with that group really lifted his confidence.
00:56:43Excellent point.
00:56:46And Thompson, last season set the record for most points ever in a quarter with 37.
00:56:52Made all 13 shots and two free throws and finished the game with 52 points.
00:56:59He hits the second from the line.
00:57:02And Thompson making all nine of his three-pointers in that game.
00:57:06I mean, that was also a record.
00:57:08The most three-pointers in a quarter.
00:57:11I think that performance sealed his place among the all-star reserves.
00:57:19Stolen by Jeremy Lynn.
00:57:21A fast break now for Charlotte.
00:57:27Zeller inside.
00:57:28Guarded by Green.
00:57:33Lynn against Curry.
00:57:38Outside, Lynn just four to shoot.
00:57:44That one off the back iron and out.
00:57:46That's a shot he's gotta hit.
00:57:48You don't get many looks better from that range.
00:57:55Zeller against Spates.
00:57:56Green the screen.
00:57:59Curry kicks to Spates.
00:58:01And that one's good.
00:58:03Spates has got his second bucket of the game to go.
00:58:06Give credit where credit is due right there.
00:58:08A terrific assist.
00:58:10Hit by Zeller.
00:58:15Curry with the steal.
00:58:17And Curry with the clear path to the hoop.
00:58:20It's good.
00:58:21That's eight baskets for him now.
00:58:23Eight for 15 shooting.
00:58:24And he is really in a zone right now.
00:58:27Playing and scoring with confidence.
00:58:31They set the pick.
00:58:34Over in the corner Batum.
00:58:36To end the drought.
00:58:38And he buries that one.
00:58:39Trilling the rim on the way down.
00:58:44Warriors leading by 23.
00:58:49Outside Curry.
00:58:51There's the three.
00:58:53Zeller grabs the board.
00:58:55Boy from my angle it looked like it was in the bottom of the net.
00:58:58Looked good from here.
00:58:59Yeah I'm about as shocked as you are Clark.
00:59:02Here's Lynn.
00:59:04And two free throws coming up as he misses that one.
00:59:07Drawing the whistle on a lot of contact there.
00:59:11And the hope for Jeremy Lynn last season was that he'd take a step forward in his development.
00:59:16But it almost was the opposite in his play.
00:59:18And that can happen.
00:59:19You don't always go a straight line north in your improvement in this league.
00:59:22He's been on an upward swing as far as the shooting accuracy.
00:59:25But last season was the worst since his rookie year in that area.
00:59:30And talking about Lynn last season.
00:59:32He never quite gelled with what they were doing in Los Angeles.
00:59:36Both he and Kobe need the ball to be effective.
00:59:39And I got a feeling you guys know which one of those two is going to get it.
00:59:43Catching up on the changes for Golden State.
00:59:46Azealy's checked in for Draymond Green.
00:59:48Barbosa comes in for Thompson.
00:59:50And it's Livingston in for Steph Curry.
00:59:53And you know getting back to Lynn he was actually pretty strong starting out the season.
00:59:57In November he made 48% of his shots 37% from downtown.
01:00:02But in April he only hit 24% from the field and was eventually shut down for the year.
01:00:07Three consecutive baskets have come right at the rim.
01:00:10The defense had better start buckling down and tightening up.
01:00:14Guys they are getting exposed in terms of their low post defense.
01:00:19Now here's Lamb.
01:00:23Lynn dishes to Zeller.
01:00:26Second shot opportunity.
01:00:28Got a piece of it.
01:00:32Here is Livingston.
01:00:35They set the pick.
01:00:39Pass to Barbosa.
01:00:40Lets it go from deep.
01:00:42That drops and it comes off the assist from Livingston.
01:00:45Livingston's got five assists in the game.
01:00:48The Hornets shooting has been wayward so far.
01:00:51Only 37% from the floor.
01:00:53Walker goes in.
01:00:55The rebound by Azealy.
01:00:57And he rushed that one no doubt about it.
01:01:00The D out of position.
01:01:01You can see the frustration on his face.
01:01:07Here is Livingston.
01:01:13He kicks to Barbosa.
01:01:14Fires the three.
01:01:16Count it.
01:01:16And he's now eight of nine from the floor.
01:01:18And they clearly are just destroying this group right now from the three point line.
01:01:24Yeah and the defense knows it.
01:01:25But I mean they are fully stretched out trying to stop the three point shot.
01:01:28And still haven't been able to do it.
01:01:31Now here's Walker.
01:01:33He's got 14.
01:01:34And the basket by Kaminsky.
01:01:36Uh oh.
01:01:37A little showboating at the end of that one.
01:01:40We've got 33 seconds left in the third.
01:01:44Kicks to Barbosa.
01:01:46He's two up.
01:01:47Now he is nine of 10.
01:01:49I don't think they can ask much more of him than what he's done this quarter.
01:01:53Charlotte shooting around 40 percent in the third.
01:01:55Maybe settling for some less than ideal looks out there.
01:02:00And Walker kicks to Kaminsky.
01:02:05There's the feet to land.
01:02:08And the three off target.
01:02:13And Barbosa has it in the corner.
01:02:16Here's Livingston.
01:02:18And that's not going to go.
01:02:20The three quarters of play all in the books.
01:02:22And this one all but over already.
01:02:25The Warriors on top opening up a huge gap.
01:02:29And we're coming right back.
01:02:30Be sure to stay with us as we get started for the fourth quarter.
01:02:52And we're getting underway here in the fourth quarter.
01:02:55The scoreboard tells the story in this matchup.
01:02:57But we'll see how much things change up here.
01:03:10And on the court for Charlotte as we start the fourth.
01:03:13We've got Spencer Hawes.
01:03:15Kaminsky out there with Hairston.
01:03:16Then it's Jeremy Lamb.
01:03:17And it's Robertson at the point.
01:03:20Here is Hairston.
01:03:22Here's Lamb.
01:03:23Let's it go from the baseline and nails it.
01:03:27Lamb's got the first field goal of the fourth quarter.
01:03:29Here for the Hornets.
01:03:33Here is Livingston.
01:03:36With the teardrop.
01:03:37Hawes with the rebound.
01:03:43And Roberts kicks to Lamb.
01:03:54He feeds it to Hairston.
01:03:56Five on the clock.
01:03:57Here's Kaminsky.
01:03:59Here's Kaminsky.
01:03:59The third shot of the possession finally falls for him.
01:04:04Fourth quarter of basketball.
01:04:05We're about a minute into it.
01:04:10Here is Livingston.
01:04:11He dishes it to McAdoo.
01:04:13Two.
01:04:15Two.
01:04:16Three.
01:04:17Now Rush.
01:04:18The pass to Barbosa.
01:04:22Just five to shoot.
01:04:25Hawes with the block.
01:04:33And Roberts kicks to Hawes.
01:04:35All alone.
01:04:37The Warriors pull it in.
01:04:39And up the court come the Warriors on the break.
01:04:42Here's Rush.
01:04:43That drops and it comes off the assist from Livingston.
01:04:47Livingston's got assist number eight here in this one already.
01:04:50The Hornets have gone two of four from the field since we started the final quarter of play.
01:04:58Lamb passes to Hawes.
01:05:02And it's Roberts.
01:05:04Top of the key.
01:05:05Can't make good off the screen.
01:05:07The Warriors have gone one of three from the field to start the fourth quarter.
01:05:14Livingston dishes to McAdoo.
01:05:17Has to rush.
01:05:19There's a good screen.
01:05:21Intercepted.
01:05:25Just under two and a half minutes gone here in the final quarter.
01:05:29Fourteen feet away.
01:05:31Cannot hit.
01:05:31So Golden State will take it the other way.
01:05:35The dish to Barbosa.
01:05:37He makes his tenth basket of the night from the field.
01:05:39He has missed on three this game only.
01:05:42He's played an important role in their offense today, guys.
01:05:44Without him, they may not be in the lead.
01:05:50Now here's Lamb.
01:05:56Dishes it to Roberts.
01:06:01And we're about three minutes into the fourth quarter.
01:06:07Livingston picks to Barbosa.
01:06:13Shot clock at six.
01:06:15There's the pick.
01:06:17Kaminsky with the double team.
01:06:18Here's McAdoo.
01:06:19And foul called as he misses.
01:06:21He'll go to the line and shoot two.
01:06:23And Charlotte had a lot of momentum going into last season off that playoff appearance.
01:06:29But they just stumbled out of the gates last season and spent the whole year playing catch-up.
01:06:37All right, now.
01:06:38Take a break.
01:06:39Take a break.
01:06:40Two shots.
01:06:54Three-throw good, McAdoo.
01:06:56And for the Hornets, they seemed to get back on track last January.
01:06:59But they faded Clark quickly after that and were too far behind to make up room and get in the
01:07:04playoffs.
01:07:05And you know, they had a rash of injuries, Kevin.
01:07:06And that really did them in.
01:07:08All in all, it was a season that just didn't have any traction for them because of the injuries.
01:07:13Tyler Hansbrose checked in for Charlotte.
01:07:19And both three throws good for McAdoo.
01:07:22Overall, a down year for the Hornets in the 2014-15 season.
01:07:25A big part of that was that they would struggle on the road.
01:07:29And you know, they had playoff aspirations.
01:07:31But as you said, those aspirations derailed because of the road struggle.
01:07:36Hawes hits the jumper in space.
01:07:41And a little over three and a half minutes in the books so far here in the fourth.
01:07:48Livingston picks to Barbosa.
01:07:51That drops and it comes off the assist from Livingston.
01:07:54Barbosa's got 14 points here in the second half.
01:07:58And last season, the Hornets ended with only 14 road wins.
01:08:02Even when they made the playoffs in 2014, they weren't a team that traveled well.
01:08:07It's something the team needs to figure out in order to get back into the postseason.
01:08:13Here is Harrison.
01:08:15And the rebound goes to the Warriors.
01:08:18Azeli's got four rebounds in this game.
01:08:20They've shown effort and aggression in the paint right from the tip.
01:08:23Their rebounding edge is impressive.
01:08:26And they're giving themselves extra possessions and have taken advantage of it.
01:08:31And that's critical.
01:08:31You can shoot a lesser percentage if you're getting more opportunities at the rim.
01:08:37Just two to shoot.
01:08:39It's rebounded by Charlotte.
01:08:41And you know, as you mentioned, the road record for the Hornets was not that good.
01:08:46I mean, they really struggled late in the year when they seemed to almost give up.
01:08:50They lost their last seven road games and nine of their last ten.
01:08:54And now running up the court.
01:08:56Rush pushing it all the way.
01:08:58Nice shot by McAdoo.
01:09:00Boy, I tell you what.
01:09:01Nice little run here that they're going on.
01:09:03And getting to the ten has been the key.
01:09:05They're getting point blank looks time and time again.
01:09:10Here's Roberts.
01:09:11Here's Lamb.
01:09:13And the Hornets miss again.
01:09:15And it's the Warriors ball.
01:09:17They're on a 10-2 run here.
01:09:21Livingston kicks to McAdoo.
01:09:25Deep two from Rush.
01:09:27And it comes off the front of the rim.
01:09:29And if the shot's not there, you've got to understand that move the basketball.
01:09:35Yeah, exactly.
01:09:35And I'm not quite sure what his mindset or what he was thinking there.
01:09:39I mean, that was just a terrible shot.
01:09:42Now here's Lamb.
01:09:44Floats one.
01:09:45And the layup is good.
01:09:47Lamb's got four points in the quarter.
01:09:49Oh, such a field shot there.
01:09:52The floater.
01:09:55Livingston kicks to McAdoo.
01:10:01Golden State moving the ball around.
01:10:05Right wing.
01:10:06Rush from outside.
01:10:08And that's collected by Spencer Hawes.
01:10:11Hawes got his fifth rebound right now in the game.
01:10:16On the mark with the 15-footer.
01:10:19Assistant, P.J. Harrison.
01:10:22Here is Livingston.
01:10:27Pass to Barbosa.
01:10:29McAdoo dishes to Rush.
01:10:34Feeds it to Livingston.
01:10:38Pass to McAdoo.
01:10:40Four on the clock.
01:10:42Golden State needs to get off a shot.
01:10:45Barbosa's shot is off.
01:10:47The Hornets have gone.
01:10:48Five of 11 from the field in the fourth quarter.
01:10:53Here's Roberts.
01:10:54There's a screen by Hansborough.
01:10:56Here's Hairston.
01:10:58The rebound by Azealy.
01:11:00Azealy's got six rebounds in the game.
01:11:05Livingston passes to Barbosa.
01:11:10And fouled hard that time.
01:11:11He'll get to the line and shoot two.
01:11:13Oh, the officials are all over that one.
01:11:15Clearly a foul.
01:11:16I mean, didn't give him any choice but to blow the whistle.
01:11:20I mean, you gotta play without fouling.
01:11:22At the line for two.
01:11:28Alright now, gentlemen.
01:11:29Two shots.
01:11:30Blue shots.
01:11:43Free throw drops for Barbosa.
01:11:46It was the season of destiny.
01:11:48And the Warriors certainly followed through Clark.
01:11:50The best team in the league all year.
01:11:51And they finished the job.
01:11:52Beating the Cavs in the finals.
01:11:54And they were on a mission from the get-go.
01:11:56They would become another team to win 65 games or more.
01:12:00And win the finals.
01:12:02Impressive work.
01:12:03Spates checked in for the Warriors.
01:12:05Iguodala comes in for Brandon Rush.
01:12:07And so, he hits both.
01:12:09And for the Warriors, they had tough opponents the whole way.
01:12:13I mean, the Pelicans, Grizzlies, and Rockets, they all put up fights.
01:12:17The Cavs in the finals were just as tough with LeBron.
01:12:20But the Warriors found a way to come through.
01:12:22Here's Lamb.
01:12:24Off target from outside.
01:12:26The Warriors have gone 4 of 10 here in the final period.
01:12:30Not the time to go cold.
01:12:32Azealy kicks to Barbosa.
01:12:40Shot is no good.
01:12:41And Charlotte will go the other way with it.
01:12:43And for the Warriors, it had been nearly 40 years, guys, since the franchise made it to the finals.
01:12:48They had a lot of pressure on them to win and finish things off.
01:12:51But they got it done.
01:12:53And did it in emphatic fashion.
01:12:55Winning on the road.
01:12:57The title solidified them as one of the all-time outstanding teams in NBA history.
01:13:04Colden State's gotten off to an 0 for 2 start from downtown here in the fourth quarter.
01:13:09Azealy.
01:13:10And he gets the kind bounce as that one drops in for it.
01:13:16Hornets have gone only 6 of 14 from the field in the fourth.
01:13:20Guys, they're looking for a way to score here.
01:13:23Yeah, they've had a tough time getting the lid off the basket so far.
01:13:29Back to Zeller.
01:13:30He kicks to Hairston.
01:13:31From the corner.
01:13:33They get it back.
01:13:35So the whistle blows on the shot and two free throws for the contact right there.
01:13:39That's his first personal foul.
01:13:42Shooting for Colden State.
01:13:44Brian Roberts.
01:13:47Two shots.
01:13:53Okay, gentlemen.
01:13:55Two shots.
01:13:56Two shots.
01:14:08And the first one at the line is good.
01:14:10Brian Roberts went undrafted in 2008.
01:14:13Initially couldn't latch on with an NBA team.
01:14:15So Clark, he played overseas for a couple seasons.
01:14:18But he kept going to NBA summer camps, Kevin.
01:14:20Finally found the spot with the Pelicans.
01:14:23Now he's in his fourth NBA season.
01:14:25A dream come true.
01:14:26And the Hornets making a change here.
01:14:28Kaminsky's checked in.
01:14:30He's perfect from the line this time.
01:14:33And talking about Brian Roberts, he's carved out a specific role for himself.
01:14:38He can push the ball up the floor.
01:14:39He can play pick and roll.
01:14:41He's an excellent spot-up shooter.
01:14:43It shows you that patiently improving your skills is how you make it as an undrafted guy.
01:14:50The Hornets shooting 40% in the fourth.
01:14:53Zeller dishes to Roberts.
01:14:55There's the three.
01:14:57Warriors with the rebound.
01:14:59Spades has got six rebounds here tonight.
01:15:04Here is Livingston.
01:15:06Kicks to Spades.
01:15:08That drops and it comes off the assist from Livingston.
01:15:11You know, going back to Brian Roberts, scouts did know about him coming out of college.
01:15:16I mean, he was highly decorated in his career at Dayton.
01:15:18Concerns about his size and whether he'd be a one or a two.
01:15:21That's what ultimately dropped him out of the running.
01:15:24And so it's Charlotte with it.
01:15:26Following the score by Golden State.
01:15:28Here's Hairston.
01:15:30Here's Kaminsky.
01:15:32And the rejection by Azealy.
01:15:38Iguodala with it.
01:15:39The feed now to Barbosa.
01:15:42Spades sets a screen for Barbosa.
01:15:46Rebound by Roberts.
01:15:48Roberts got his third rebound on the night.
01:15:52Here's Hairston.
01:15:54And two free throws coming up as he misses that one.
01:15:56Drawing the whistle and a lot of contact there.
01:15:59And so far for P.J. Hairston, nothing in his basketball career has been easy.
01:16:05He played at North Carolina but was suspended and never reinstated.
01:16:09Then he played in the D-League well enough to be drafted in the first round last year.
01:16:13But unfortunately, his strong play just didn't carry over into his first full season in the NBA.
01:16:21Talking about Hairston, his rookie year last year was a disappointing act.
01:16:24He played Clark only 45 games at around 15 minutes per game.
01:16:28And you know, what did he do with those minutes he got?
01:16:30He shot 32% from the field.
01:16:32Not great.
01:16:33He's got talent.
01:16:34There's never been a question about that.
01:16:35Now he's got to hone it.
01:16:38Hairston hits both of them.
01:16:41Golden State's gone 0-3 so far in the fourth quarter from long range.
01:16:47Livingston kicks to Spates.
01:16:51And here is Iguodala.
01:16:55From outside the arc.
01:16:57And he gets it to go.
01:16:59And they're going to have a hard time climbing back into this game
01:17:03if they continue to defend like that.
01:17:091.52 left in the fourth quarter.
01:17:12Hairston kicks to Roberts.
01:17:13And the rejection by Azealy.
01:17:20Here is Livingston.
01:17:25He feeds it to Barbosa.
01:17:28Zeller with the double team.
01:17:32Just five on the clock.
01:17:33And a wide open look for Iguodala.
01:17:35Off target with the open look.
01:17:37And for the Hornets, they're shooting 32% in the fourth,
01:17:40perhaps looking a bit tired.
01:17:42And as we head to the final buzzer here, a crushing blowout.
01:17:46Big time dominance.
01:17:47And this will go in the record books as a Gowdy win for the Warriors.
01:17:52Agreed, Steve.
01:17:53And as one-sided as it gets today.
01:17:55You know, Clark, there were some dominant moments in there
01:17:58about every facet of this game for that team.
01:18:00You're right, Kevin.
01:18:01It's hard to think of anything that didn't go right for them.
01:18:04I mean, game planning by the coaches, execution by the players.
01:18:08Everything was spot on.
01:18:09And as we've come to expect, another big game tonight
01:18:12and an impressive exhibit for Stephen Curry.
01:18:15You can't look back at too many major moments in this game
01:18:18and not see his imprint put all over it.
01:18:21And so here's Charlotte after the miss from Andre Iguodala.
01:18:26And Roberts kicks to Lamb.
01:18:31Here's Roberts.
01:18:32Covered by Barbosa.
01:18:34Shot by Roberts.
01:18:36No good.
01:18:37Well, they're really making a point of keeping the ball moving around.
01:18:40Yeah.
01:18:40Gotta love this teamwork.
01:18:42I mean, everybody's involved and engaged.
01:18:44It's just a thing of beauty to watch.
01:18:46It is.
01:18:47And, Clark, that's the key.
01:18:48The D can't focus on one player.
01:18:50And no matter what anybody tells you,
01:18:52that ball will always move quicker than the defender.
01:18:56For three.
01:18:57Barbosa.
01:18:57No good.
01:19:01So we see the Warriors taking the game here.
01:19:04It was a tale of two teams tonight.
01:19:06One that was in total control, operating flawlessly.
01:19:09And Clark, the other, just searching for answers that they could never find.
01:19:12Well, I think these fans, too, Kevin, gave their team a tremendous lift.
01:19:17I mean, they never gave up on them.
01:19:19From the opening tip until the end of the game, they were in it.
01:19:23And that certainly helped this crew get to the W.
01:19:27And a chance now to send you over to Doris Burke, standing by on the sideline.
01:19:30Doris.
01:19:31Yes, Kevin.
01:19:33I'm with Clay Thompson.
01:19:34As a unit, the team seemed to have a cohesive approach out there.
01:19:38How important was the lift you got from the bench?
01:19:41Just do it as a team.
01:19:42You know, it's not an individual effort.
01:19:44We're a real deep team this year.
01:19:46We got a lot of guys who would start on some good teams.
01:19:49So we just did it collectively.
01:19:52Thank you, Clay.
01:19:53We so appreciate it.
01:19:54Back to you, Kevin.
01:19:55All right, Doris.
01:19:56Great job.
01:19:57Thanks so much.
01:19:58And that's going to do it tonight, folks, for our broadcast.
01:20:00This is Kevin Harlan saying thank you for tuning in.
01:20:04So long, everyone.
01:20:06The 2K Sports Post Game Show.
01:20:15Kevin, much appreciated.
01:20:16And now let's present our Jordan player of the game.
01:20:19Stephen Curry.
01:20:21I don't know if there's a fan base that loves their star more than this crowd.
01:20:25Wow.
01:20:26He's jealous.
01:20:27And he feeds off that support.
01:20:29Once they got behind him, he became unstoppable, man.
01:20:33I will say this about Steph Curry.
01:20:35There is no player in the league more capable of single-handedly taking over a ball game than
01:20:39he is.
01:20:40What I mean is, Steph Curry's hot.
01:20:42It's hotter than anyone else is hot.
01:20:44He can beat you with his feet, his mind, his shot.
01:20:46The only thing you can be sure of is that he will beat you.
01:20:51And that's it for our broadcast here tonight, where we're just getting started on a new season
01:20:56in the NBA.
01:20:57For Shaquille O'Neal, Kenny the Jet Smith, Kevin Harlan, and the entire 2K Sports crew,
01:21:03I'm Ernie Johnson.
01:21:04We'll see you again soon.
01:21:16We'll see you again soon.
01:21:17We'll see you again soon.
