00:01As you guys all know, Skye P. Marshall and Jason Ritter, thank you guys for being here.
00:06How are we doing? Now that season two is wrapped up and you guys are on a little break, how
00:10are you feeling?
00:11I'm exhausted.
00:14Yeah, we were filming since July, July to March.
00:18And so we were so excited for this finale to drop and Jason and I did some great press around.
00:25And the reaction we got from the audience was so rewarding for us because we worked so hard for you
00:33all.
00:33And so thank you, everybody, who stuck through and supported the show.
00:39As actors, I feel like a lot of people, some want to know the ending early, some don't want to
00:44know.
00:45How far ahead do you guys like to know?
00:47And how far ahead does Jenny allow you to know how each season will end?
00:52I mean, I like to know everything.
00:54You like to know.
00:54But also because I forget everything immediately.
00:58So, spoiler, I'm immune.
01:01But we don't know really what's going to happen.
01:06Well, you've kind of.
01:08I did know a little thing at the end of season one.
01:11I knew that I had done the bad thing.
01:14Okay.
01:14About four episodes before the end.
01:17So not the whole time.
01:18Okay.
01:18And he also like wouldn't tell me who he slept with.
01:21And I was like, who was it?
01:22Was it Mrs. Belvin?
01:24Who was it?
01:25And, but I'm not a safe space.
01:29At least you know that.
01:30So I'm not in the group chat.
01:31They're not telling me anything in advance because I get way too excited.
01:35Me too.
01:36So yeah, we find out maybe less than a week.
01:40Yeah.
01:41Before the next one.
01:41What was your reactions to finding out the ending of season two?
01:43We are going to talk spoilers.
01:44So I hope everybody here has watched and caught up.
01:46And if you haven't, you've probably been spoiled already.
01:49What was your reaction to finding out the wrap up of season two?
01:53I, I mean, I was incredibly satisfied.
01:57I, you know, it's been a long journey and sometimes I realize, oh, this is why I'm not a writer.
02:05So I was trying to come up with all of these things, especially for my character.
02:09Cause, uh, and I was just like, how are they going to do this?
02:13He did do a bad thing.
02:14So how, like, if he's just free at the end.
02:17So I was trying to figure out some way where there was maybe some accountability for Julian,
02:22but maybe not so much accountability that he's in jail for six seasons.
02:27Um, and they, they like found a perfect, they found a better option than, than I had come up with.
02:34So that was very lovely.
02:35That's why Jenny does this.
02:36I had a Hollywood crush on Gina Lamar.
02:39I mean, sorry, Gina Rodriguez.
02:41Gina Lamar is one of our directors.
02:42But Gina Rodriguez.
02:44So when she was going to be in our finale, I was just like, when, where, and how can we
02:49keep her longer?
02:51And she just did such a fantastic job.
02:54And when they told me I was going to get a slow motion shot with Kathy Bates, like while the
02:58feds are running past us.
03:00I was just like, that's my demo reel right there.
03:02Like that's, that's going to be on my dating sites.
03:06If ever, it'll be everywhere.
03:08I don't know.
03:09I still think we should have gotten one shot of you guys walking in slow motion and then me in
03:13the background just booking it with all the FBI agents trying to run out.
03:17That would have been cool.
03:18I want to touch on what you said a little bit about your character.
03:22He did a bad thing, but he's not a bad person.
03:24I mean, I'm curious how you kind of approached playing that, especially throughout this season of knowing that there will
03:29probably be some sort of accountability and that that will come to a head.
03:33I mean, I think it's, I think people are fascinating.
03:37I think people do bad things all the time and they have justified it to themselves or, you know, very
03:46few people I think are going around the world going, I'm a bad person and I'm going to hurt people.
03:51They've, they've, they've, they've made a worldview where they go, no, I'm allowed to do this or I messed up
03:56and, but this is why my parents did that or whatever.
03:59So I, I feel like Julian had done this thing that he had sort of put away for many, many
04:05years and compartmentalized and, and feels guilty about that, but then has focused on being a good dad and, uh,
04:12almost good husband.
04:14Um, and, uh, and just a couple slips.
04:21Um, and, uh, so, yeah, I mean, it was, it was, it's, it's fun to, I feel like as an
04:27actor, I, you become a little lawyer.
04:29For your character and you're like, well, let me explain, uh, to the, the jury who's the audience.
04:35And, and I, and I also, I, I like playing a character that the, it's a, there's a hung jury,
04:42you know, some people really, uh, can't stand Julian and don't forgive him.
04:47Um, my wife and, um, and, uh, and, and then some people are like, no, he means well and he's,
04:53he's under his dad's thumb.
04:54But some people are like, your actions are the final thing that matters, not the thing that led you to
04:59that.
05:00And so anyway, yeah.
05:02How do you feel about that, Sky?
05:03What side are you on?
05:05Well, you know, in the legal system, many times in order to gain justice, you have to go through chaos.
05:13And a lot of times that chaos is the discovery and what do you believe and what are you willing
05:21to sacrifice for that belief system?
05:24What are the consequences and how much is it going to cost you?
05:28And it cost Julian a lot.
05:33He paid for it, but he also was, it was like pulling a string and then the sweater unraveled.
05:39So at the end of season one, when it was revealed that he hid the document, immediately my thought was,
05:47who told you to do this?
05:48And who told him, her, or them to do that?
05:51Like you're a pawn on this, on this chess board.
05:55So let's now go through the chaos of figuring out who actually is responsible.
06:02And a lot of times the villains do things based off of childhood trauma.
06:10And so for it to be connected to his father and this desire to be recognized and acknowledged and seen
06:16and loved by him, Julian's character was willing to do anything.
06:20But I do hope that he pays for it because I am sick of seeing people get away with stuff
06:28and not being held accountable.
06:31I'm exhausted.
06:33Me too.
06:34So if he could at least do a few months behind jail in the beginning of season three, I feel
06:40like me and the audience will at least be satisfied and hopefully inspired.
06:44Yes, exactly.
06:45I mean, you and your dad in jail would be pretty fun.
06:49I mean, that would be awkward.
06:51Julian and his dad would be pretty fun to see.
06:53It would be fun to see.
06:54It would be fun.
06:54Right?
06:55You'll be equals for the first time.
06:56Yeah, exactly.
06:57Oh, I know exactly.
06:58And you might be, maybe even have a little more power than him.
07:01So that could be an interesting dynamic.
07:03Speaking of next season, we were talking backstage a little about how Jenny, your incredible leader, has talked a little
07:11about how there is going to be a bit of a time jump going into the next season.
07:14And I informed them of this backstage.
07:16They did not know.
07:17That was new information for us.
07:18We were like, I'm sorry, what?
07:20There's a time jump?
07:21She's like, yeah, like a year?
07:23She said it could be up to a year.
07:25So I'm curious for you what you guys want to explore next season.
07:29Like where do you think in your ideal world, if Jenny's listening, what do you want for next season?
07:37Well, I'm really excited because for Julian in a certain way, because maybe his professional life is ending.
07:45But in a way, he's finally free of all of these things that he's felt like he had to be
07:53in order, you know, his relationship with his dad is such an elusive one.
07:58And I feel like he's always just been like, well, maybe if I just do this one more thing, then
08:02he'll go, you know what, actually, I am proud of you.
08:05Or whatever that moment is that he's just seeking.
08:07And so I'm excited for him personally.
08:10Sometimes when your biggest, worst secret comes out, you're not worried about getting caught out and you can actually begin
08:18a new life, a new humble life where you don't have any secrets and you can just be free of
08:26that, which is lovely for him.
08:28What about you?
08:29You know, my character Olympia, she is a warrior and a mess.
08:36And most days she's both.
08:38And I want to see what is that balance like in a relationship?
08:45Because my man, my husband, Edwin Hodge, hey, he came, he popped in and played Langston.
08:55And I was like, oh, wait a minute.
08:59Can we keep this wardrobe and have a little role play?
09:04I put Langston on my screensaver and he actually got jealous.
09:10I did.
09:12I was longing for Langston because he did his voice deeper.
09:15He wore like a three-piece.
09:18I was just like, oh, my goodness.
09:19And but, you know, I feel that working women always have to negotiate when it comes to their time at
09:32work and dating and being intimate and not having to sacrifice one for the other.
09:39I know this.
09:40I was a corporate woman in my late 20s.
09:42And I knew what that felt like being a corporate woman in New York City.
09:46And I did not have time, nor did I want to make time for all the men whistling and asking
09:52me out on dates on the sixth train.
09:54And I just was like, I'm so focused on work.
09:57And Olympia is also a co-parenting mother and Julian's dating.
10:03And so I feel like I want to see her make time and make space for that because I would
10:09love to be in a dress, you know, maybe a little curl or something in my hair.
10:14Like, just jazz Olympia up and be cute and flirty and messy and sexy.
10:21And, yeah, I want to see some of that in season three.
10:24I love that.
10:25I mean, and Jenny has said that she feels when you guys come back that there's a good chance that
10:30Edwin will be back because in her vision, you guys will have been spending some time together in between the
10:36seasons.
10:36So that's pretty exciting.
10:38That means you guys get to go to work together.
10:40It's very exciting, but I am married to a very talented man who has been in the industry for over
10:4730 years.
10:48He may be booked.
10:50So we'll see.
10:51I hope that he will be available.
10:53I pray that he will be available.
10:55Well, I mean, Jason, we also got a little guest star from your wife, Melanie Linsky, as well.
11:02Can we see maybe her coming back, too?
11:04I mean, she's also very busy.
11:06She is also very busy.
11:07Yeah, I don't know what the legal ramifications for her character will be.
11:17I don't know.
11:19But, yeah, I mean, obviously I love working with her.
11:22She's so much fun.
11:23Maybe Deborah Palmer has a twin sister who hasn't dated my character's father.
11:32But, yeah, I mean, I love working with her so much.
11:35She's just such a fantastic actor and so funny and fresh every take and easy to work with.
11:42Absolutely.
11:43I mean, for you guys, something that, especially for you, that you said about finding this balance, these characters find
11:49this balance between their personal life and their professional life.
11:53Like, do you want to see, is there something in their professional life you also would want to see more
11:57of?
11:57Because we do see, obviously, their day-to-day.
11:59But I feel like she is messy in a good way.
12:02But she has things at work that she could be, I don't know, exploring more of.
12:06Yeah, that's a great question.
12:09You know, I would like to see more clients that are known by the public.
12:18The public knows that Matlock is a real person.
12:21Right.
12:21So let's take some people who we may know and put them in the courtroom and then let the audience
12:29have an opinion about it.
12:30And it could be a client that we all either love or hate, right, as an audience, but find someone
12:38real that could test Olympia.
12:41Because I believe Olympia and Matlock are going to start their own firm in season three.
12:51So I was like, oh boy, like all the new characters that could arise from this decision would be very
12:59exciting.
13:00But yeah, like a celebrity client would be really cool that we're all familiar with in a way.
13:06That's really fun.
13:07Can you guys talk a little about the collaboration of the ensemble on the set?
13:10Because, I mean, it is obviously led by Kathy Bates, which is incredible.
13:14And even just saying it, every time I say it, it's just so wild.
13:17I'm curious for you guys what the vibe is on set and how you guys all kind of get along
13:21and get to.
13:23It's a big playpen, especially with this one.
13:25I cannot.
13:26Let me tell you, we will be in very serious scenes.
13:30And like the guest star would be like maybe having to be emotional.
13:35And, you know, we're the worst at like reacting.
13:39Like, oh, huh.
13:39Right.
13:40And like if we look at each other, I got to like look away because he has a glimmer where
13:44I know it's no longer an adult.
13:47It is now his inner child.
13:49And then he summons my inner child.
13:53And when they start, then it's like.
13:57It's hard to get us back.
13:59It's so hard to wheel us back in once we get into.
14:03It's like a runner's high, though.
14:06He's therapy for me.
14:08He just brings me nothing but joy.
14:10And I love Jason so much.
14:12And he's like my favorite work husband that a woman could have ever asked for.
14:18Oh, that's so awesome.
14:18Even like I went through so much.
14:21I had so much loss in 2025 as far as deaths in the family.
14:26And every time I would come to Jason, he would cry before I would.
14:30And I'm like, Jason, don't.
14:31You're going to mess up my makeup.
14:32But he's so empathetic.
14:34And he's, you're such a genuine human being.
14:36And you really care from like a deep space.
14:40And I feel it every day.
14:43And that's what allows me to compartmentalize and have my feelings with you.
14:49And then get back to work.
14:51And Kathy Bates is the same.
14:54I have had to have conversations with Kathy.
14:57And I've seen her cry.
14:58And she's seen me cry.
14:59And when we're filming and we are so committed to the emotional responsibility,
15:08the comedic responsibility, and the intellectual responsibility of our characters,
15:12our brain doesn't know that we're playing make-believe most of the time.
15:15So we're going through every emotion on the spectrum.
15:19And that can cause skin breakouts.
15:24Your sleep pattern gets messed up.
15:27You're not hydrated enough.
15:28So we physically have to make sure that we create some wellness within.
15:35And that's what I have found in my leading cast is a place I can go to and just cry
15:44or vent and then get back to work.
15:46Because it is important to release the things that we may have to be imagining to stay in that character
15:53and committed to that storyline.
15:56So, yeah, my cast and many of my crew members, they're my work family.
16:04Do you want to add anything?
16:05I mean, I can't say it better.
16:06It really does feel like a family in that way where, you know, there's too many hours in the day
16:12that you're together to hide away.
16:14So, like, if you're feeling something, people are going to pick up on it.
16:18And you can either just go, here's what's going on or, you know, try to squeeze it down.
16:23And that second way doesn't always work.
16:26Are you breaking into dance at work a lot?
16:29If anyone looks on social media, you will see that Jason is a really incredible dancer.
16:35Thank you for calling it dancing.
16:41I'm certainly moving my body and there's music.
16:44But, no, we love to dance and it's a nice release, especially, you know, we're in a corporate setting and
16:51we're all in suits.
16:52And so it's fun to just kind of, like, let loose every once in a while and move in a
16:58silly way.
16:59Yeah.
16:59I dance on set.
17:01Yeah.
17:01But I am encouraged by Jason to show someone because, you know, he's such an advocate for joy.
17:13And I don't know why I'm hiding that part of myself because we all dance on set.
17:19We're highly caffeinated.
17:23And it gets weird.
17:25And the first AD is always like, okay, that's cute.
17:27Come on, guys.
17:28Nope, Jason.
17:29Okay, Skye.
17:30Okay, let's, Jason, Skye.
17:32Okay, put your drink down.
17:33Yeah, like children.
17:35And we're just like, wait, we're almost finished with the routine.
17:38And they're just like, please sit them separate.
17:41I feel like that is the best way to end it on talking about joy.
17:45So I want to say thank you both so much for being here.
17:47Thank you so much.
17:48Thank you guys all so much.
17:50Please stay seated.
17:51We have one more.
17:52We have our special award coming before lunch.
17:54So really appreciate you guys all staying here, staying seated today.
17:59You
