00:46Last year, we had a very significant spike in unusual emergency calls.
00:52I got to tell you, I've never seen anything like it in my 36 years of police work.
00:59I assembled a team of top paranormal investigators to help us solve some of these bizarre cases.

01:52And she's been experiencing some pretty strange stuff.

02:23I had a strange experience in Boydville.
02:26It's a bed and breakfast in Martinsburg.

02:28And it was after a wedding party a few nights ago.
02:31So you were just staying at this place?
02:33Just staying over for the night.
02:34Right after the wedding.

02:36First time there.
02:37And I was in the master bedroom, I guess you would call it.
02:43And I had a little trouble going to sleep.
02:47And the radiator was creaking a lot.
02:50I was hearing some creaking of the floors or the walls.
02:54And just felt uneasy.
03:05I thought I heard wheezing sounds.
03:07Maybe from a child.
03:11And I thought I heard maybe two or three little bare feet or stocking feet type footsteps on
03:16the hardwood floor.
03:37All of a sudden, it feels like two hands are on my back.
03:43And it felt like it was pushing me down into the mattress.
03:47And I couldn't get up from it.
03:50I could not move.
03:54It seemed like I couldn't yell.
04:01It was a force I couldn't see.
04:03And I really didn't want to see at the time.
04:05I just wanted it to be over.
04:12As quickly as it came, it was gone.
04:15And I realized I could actually breathe again.
04:18So how long were you unable to move?
04:20Maybe it was only a minute.
04:21A little less than a minute.
04:22I mean, I just was scared to death.
04:25But you were awake.
04:26I was awake.
04:27I was awake and aware of what was going on.
04:29Were you afraid that someone broke into your room?
04:31I looked and the door was closed and it was an old fashioned type latch.
04:36And I didn't hear that.
04:37So if it was somebody coming into the room, I think I would have heard that first.

04:42I called my friend and they thought at first I was dreaming.
04:46And I said, no, I've been wide awake the whole time.
04:48I haven't been asleep yet.
04:49I know I wasn't dreaming.
04:51There was somebody or something in the room.
04:53I don't know if there's any other explanation but paranormal because there wasn't anyone else there that I could see
05:00or could have gotten away out of the room.
05:02I've met a lot of people with sleep paralysis, people who have had actual experiences.
05:06So I can totally relate.
05:08And you're not losing your mind.
05:10You're not going crazy because this stuff has happened to a lot of people that can't explain it.
05:15So sleep paralysis, it's a medical condition where sometimes people wake up, but they can't move their bodies.
05:21And it's really scary because their brains are awake, but their bodies are not.
05:26And that's why they experience this temporary paralysis.
05:30The interesting thing, what you said, is hands pushing you down.
05:35Yeah.
05:35Now, sleep paralysis is usually you're paralyzed.
05:37You can't move, you can't scream, you can't yell.
05:38Okay.
05:38But there's no really aggressive physical contact with something unexplainable.
05:42There's something different.
05:43Yeah.
05:44Something unexplainable that was not there.
05:46But there was nothing in the room, so.
05:47When paranormal encounters like that occur, usually spirits try to latch in through the spine and the back.
05:53And that's usually how it starts.
05:54And then we get into all sorts of topics.
05:57Oppression, possession, stuff like that.
05:59So the problem is, I have a friend who was considering having their wedding there.
06:03And I don't know whether to tell them about this.
06:06I don't want to be the bearer of bad news that this place could be haunted.
06:10I did tell the owner about it.
06:13And I thought they might think it was a strange story to tell them about.
06:17I almost didn't know whether to tell them.
06:20But when I did, apparently strange things like that have been happening a lot recently.
06:24That's what the owner said.

06:30And I'm telling you that probably never got reported.
06:33There's something completely different happening here that I feel we have to investigate.
06:39It's just not another typical ghost haunting.
06:41This is something that's making physical contact now.
06:44And that can be very dangerous.
06:45This is like something's trying to latch on, in my opinion.
06:59Bill and I are headed over to Boydville Manor in Martinsburg to get a little more information from Trisha.
07:04And talk to the owner, John Mann.
07:07You know how far away this place is, right?
07:09Yeah, what, it's about like 15 miles?
07:12It's 9.8 miles.

07:14But it is 10 to 15 miles away from the Potomac, which is kind of interesting, to be honest with

07:21The last couple of cases we investigated were all along the Potomac River.
07:25And it kind of supports our theory that water is a spiritual conductor and this dark presence is using it
07:30to go from town to town.
07:33But now we're in Martinsburg, which is nowhere near the Potomac.
07:36And it kind of puts a snag in our whole water theory.
07:39There's always a possibility that whatever this is has absolutely nothing to do with the other cases, too.

07:45But I think the one thing that is kind of consistent is the fact that this darker entity keeps appearing
07:51in all of our cases.
07:53I mean, what Trisha experienced seemed pretty traumatic.

10:08I definitely believe that there's a spirit world.
10:11I'm a Christian, so I can't really negate that considering what I believe in regards
10:15to the Bible.
10:16But as far as ghosts haunting a place, no, I don't really believe in that at all.

12:23Well, Boydville is quite an interesting place.
12:26It was built by General Elisha Boyd in 1812.
12:31Do you know about any deaths that happened on the property?
12:35There were a lot of deaths.
12:36I have some notices and obituaries, too, for a few of them.

12:43Elizabeth Garrett Wynn.
12:44She died in 1881.
12:46Was she die of disease?
12:48Yeah.
12:49There were so many diseases back then, and they didn't really have any.
12:52I mean, penicillin wasn't even invented yet.
12:55Do you know of any small children that died at that place?
12:58Well, I have another one here.
13:00Edward Boyd Powell.
13:01Well, in this book, Haunted Martinsburg, the story is that General Elisha Boyd had a grandson
13:09named Edward Boyd Powell, and he just adored that child and showered him with gifts.
13:22And then the boy, when he was around four years old, contracted an unknown disease.
13:31To make his life more comfortable while he was sick, his grandfather gave up his own bedroom and gave up
13:38his own bed in the hopes that it would give him some extra comfort.
13:45A doctor was called to the house, but despite his best efforts, there was nothing that could be done to
13:50bring the poor child back to health.
14:02In a devastating, heart-shattering moment, Mr. Boyd's beloved grandson died in that room on February 15, 1826, on his
14:13grandfather's bed.
14:15Oh, my God.
14:17So do you think that that's the little child that I saw?
14:19That certainly is a possibility.
14:22That makes sense.
14:22I mean, Trisha said she heard this giggling and wheezing that sounded like it was a child.
14:28Wow.
14:28But honestly, I don't think whatever attacked Trisha was the ghost of a child.
14:33And what are we missing?
14:35Because a kid having that much power to paralyze her, that doesn't make sense to me.
14:40Maybe he was there, but I don't think that that's who actually attacked her.
14:44So how do we figure out what that was?
14:47Well, I might have something that could help you.
14:50I was talking to the author of this book, Justin Stevens, and he told me he had accompanied a local
14:56psychic medium, Jennifer Fortune, to do a reading at Boydville.
15:01He felt that Jennifer got partially possessed, and he actually got a recording of it.
15:08It's a pretty scary recording.
