00:01And we're going to turn our attention to the 1500 meters.
00:04It was a wonderful win in the men's event from Mariano Garcia,
00:07outwitting everybody.
00:09How will this women's equivalent go?
00:12We'll start on the outside with a recently upgraded silver medalist
00:16from the last year's edition in Nanjing, Georgia Hunterbao,
00:19undefeated in 2026.
00:22She's taken medals at the Olympics and at the World Championships
00:25since coming back to the sport after thinking she was done.
00:29Hiltz took a great silver in Glasgow,
00:32and it's got a wonderful kick on them when they get it right.
00:35Just won the seventh national title.
00:38Garte Guimo was brilliant in their rounds on Friday night.
00:4258 seconds for a final 400 meters,
00:45and she looks so comfortable doing it.
00:48Bronze last night for the Australian in the 3,000 meters.
00:51Jessica Hull competing in both the 15 and the 3K,
00:54the only woman to attempt the double.
00:55How could she possibly get two medals?
00:58A brilliant bronze for Adam Spencer just now for her nation
01:01in the men's 1,500 meters.
01:03Heartbreak for Ethiopia in that women's 3,000 meters
01:05with a 4 for Fereni Haile.
01:07Title hopes with Hailem here in this women's 1,500.
01:11Gracie Morris led her heat.
01:13She looked really calm when the athletes came piling past her.
01:16Katomirska, a Poland Olympic and World Championship finalist.
01:20She wrote Lydia Hioska's indoor record before a 1.78 recently.
01:26Susan Ajorde Sanders of Kenya was sixth in Paris at the Olympic Games,
01:30fifth in Nanjing last time out.
01:32And Ludovicca Cavalli, probably inspired by Nadia Battacletti last night
01:37and a runaway win in the 3,000 meters.
01:39Cavalli back in the global final after health struggles
01:42in the last few years.
01:46Ethiopia have ruled this event in the last few editions.
01:50They have the last four titles, but the nation has no medals yet here
01:54at the World Indoor Championships.
01:56Can Berka Hailem buck that trend over the next seven and a half laps?
02:04Wobble on the line from the French woman, Garte Guimo,
02:08the European Indoor Champion, a chance at world glory here.
02:11Kazemirska of Poland in career best form.
02:16She was so proud to have made this team.
02:19Kazemirska raged here so many times as the youngster
02:22has been studying over in the United States,
02:24and what a homecoming for the Polish woman to be here
02:26in a global final.
02:27But a brief stint at the front for the Polish woman
02:31before Jessica Hull goes to the front and said,
02:33I'm not mucking around today.
02:35I'm not having a sitting kick like we did yesterday in the 3,000.
02:3831 seconds through the first 200 meters.
02:40It's under a four-minute pace already.
02:43This is sensible running from Jess Hull.
02:46She's become a serial medalist.
02:49And how about this, though?
02:51She wants a sensible pace, and all of a sudden,
02:54Highland, the World Junior Champion from four years ago,
02:58has said, even that's not fast enough.
03:00Wow.
03:01I don't think this is going to come down to an eight-woman burn-up
03:06over the last 20 meters.
03:08This is really bold from Highland, Hannah.
03:10Birka Highland has the fastest indoor PPA out of these women at 3.58.
03:14She's gone 3.53 outdoors.
03:17Jessica Hull faster than that, as is Georgia Hunter-Bell.
03:20But at the moment, the Ethiopian is growing her lead with every half-lap that goes.
03:26Georgia Hunter-Bell will really want Jessica Hull to do the work to close up the gap on Highland.
03:31I think Jessica Hull would want someone else to do it as well.
03:34If these women here in the chase pack hesitate at all,
03:37Birka Highland is going to build up a brilliant lead here.
03:40She's gone quick, Highland, down to 1.33 through 600 meters.
03:44That's faster than the opening circuits.
03:46I wonder if she's trying to win a psychological battle here,
03:48build up a lead so that the others just look at each other and race for silver.
03:53Really tough dynamic for Hunter-Bell and for Hull.
03:57The Briton in second, the Australian third, because they're acting as pacemakers for the rest.
04:02Don't rule out Nikki Hiltz.
04:05Their turn of speed at the end, the American just out of picture, is ferocious.
04:10And Hiltz finished very quickly with a blistering last lap in the semifinals.
04:15But this is incredible from Highland.
04:17She's still so young, Hannah.
04:20And this is such a brave, brave way to try and win a gold over a middle distance.
04:26Birka Highland, she's certainly got the talent.
04:29Is she a natural frontrunner? I'm not sure.
04:31We often see Birka Highland holding on to Gudaf Segay.
04:34That's a normal dynamic on the circuit or maybe for Adi Highland.
04:37She's normally got a teammate to gauge her effort off, to help her out.
04:40But Birka Highland is casting a lonely figure here off the front at the women's 1500 meter final.
04:46That gap definitely isn't growing.
04:48I think, I think with 1000 meters done in the race, they're just starting to shrink the gap back to
04:53Birka Highland.
04:55I agree. Georgia Hunter-Bell is acting as pacemaker for the rest of the group.
05:01Jess Hull is right on her shoulder and they are unequivocally closing.
05:05Don't rule out Hiltz. She's just at the back of that group.
05:09And Susan Ajore-Sanders of Kenya is still in the mix as well.
05:13They're going to catch the Ethiopian.
05:16This is such an effort from Georgia Hunter-Bell.
05:18Many people's favorite for this title.
05:20Her training partner Keely Hodgkinson goes in a few moments to try and win the 800.
05:24But Birka Highland trying to make it five consecutive titles for Ethiopia.
05:29She's tired. She's starting to fall to Birka Highland.
05:32She takes a belt.
05:33Hunter-Bell and Hull pull up alongside Birka Highland.
05:36They've still got Guimo and Hiltz with them.
05:39The kick from the French woman and the American athlete is brilliant.
05:43Don't underestimate those two.
05:44Georgia Hunter-Bell trying to do this the hard way.
05:47Hunter-Bell leads from the front.
05:49She's chased down Birka Highland.
05:51Can she shake off Hull, Guimo, Hiltz?
05:54It looks like it could be a title for Georgia Hunter-Bell.
05:58She's been close so many times and in the end the Brits streaks away.
06:02It's a win for Georgia Hunter-Bell.
06:04A silver for Hull and a dive for the line between Guimo and Hiltz.
06:08Has Hiltz got on the global podium again after getting a silver in Glasgow?
06:14Wow. Hats off to Georgia Hunter-Bell.
06:16And you know what, Rob?
06:18She becomes the first British woman to take a world title indoors or out.
06:23She's succeeded with the likes of Laura Muir and Kelly Holmes have failed.
06:28She takes the global title, her first global title.
06:32Jessica Hull, a double, double podium finish.
06:36Hang on a minute, that's a British record for Georgia Hunter-Bell as well.
06:39She's been trying to get that mark all season and she does it here in a championship race.
06:45Hiltz with a lifetime best as well and another trip to the podium.
06:48Guimo, a national record, but it wasn't enough.
06:51And poor Berke Hailem hats off to the Ethiopian.
06:55She really gave it a go.
06:58Well, what a race.
07:00It had everything, didn't it?
07:02Hiltz is over the moon with their bronze medal.
07:06Guimo out dipped and crashed across the line.
07:09She has the consolation of a national record.
07:11So world lead for Hunter-Bell.
07:14Area record for Hull, PB for Hiltz, national record for Guimo.
07:18The first four inside four minutes.
07:22It was such an enjoyable race.
07:24It wasn't the usual eight dawdling round and then a two lap burn up.
07:29Nothing wrong with those.
07:29It was so different and so bold, but Hunter-Bell got her tactics absolutely right.
07:36Guimo was heartbroken to be out dipped for the bronze, but successive nights with gold for Britons.
07:47Josh Kerr and Georgia Hunter-Bell.
07:49And Hiltz is so often such a good finisher.
07:52You have to feel sorry for the French woman being out dipped by three hundredths of a second.
07:57But Hunter-Bell was brave, Hannah.
07:59She took on the responsibility of closing down the big lead that Hailem had generated.
08:04She acted as the pacemaker for the rest and she wasn't swallowed up.
08:09In fact, she was still pulling away from all the rest as she crossed the line.
08:13And I think it's important to note with Jess Hull here that she didn't close that gap.
08:18I think it was a really smart decision from the Australian to say whoever's going to close up to Hailem
08:24is going to be vulnerable.
08:25And perhaps nearing up on 30 laps in her race, in her legs, it wasn't for Hull.
08:30Hunter-Bell takes the gold in a British record in a World League .358.
08:35Hull the silver in an Oceana record at .359.
08:38And Hiltz a lifetime best .359 for the American as well.
