00:00There will be no glorious victor Diana, no prize.
00:04Welcome to WatchMojo and today we're counting down art picks for the most unsettling moments
00:10in animated DC films.
00:12We'll be getting into spoilers for various DC movies so consider this your warning.
00:17Make no mistake, I'm not asking you to kick in with me, I'm telling you.
00:25Number 30 Sinestro Breaks Bad Green Lantern First Flight
00:29Oh don't look so glum, the universe has become too big for the gnomes.
00:36Thao Sinestro, not only one of DC's most dangerous villains, he's also one of DC's greatest
00:42Green Lanterns.
00:43Unfortunately, Sinestro later went back on his principles and betrayed his fellow teammates.
00:48By tapping into a deadly new yellow power source, he killed multiple Green Lanterns.
00:53But what really sells the devastating impact of these deaths is a brief moment when the
00:58Guardians of OA witnessed numerous Green Lantern rings fall to the ground all at once.
01:02The horrifying implication is that hundreds of lanterns were killed by Sinestro's rampage.
01:16The Green Lantern of Bensur was once warned about Sinestro turning evil, but he dismissed it.
01:21Tragically though, the prophecy turned true and Sinestro's fall into darkness nearly destroyed
01:26the Green Lantern Corps forever.
01:28There will be a war of light that will burn the surface of Oa plaque.
01:34It will leave scores of lanterns dead.
01:37Even the greatest of them will fall.
01:40The green light will be extinguished and there will be left a new core, a core of fear.
01:47Number 29.
01:48The Shredder and Ra's al Ghul lay waste to Arkham.
01:52Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
01:54The world of Batman and the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles isn't a typical crossover
01:58the fans would expect, but it works surprisingly well.
02:01When it comes to this movie's epic team up between Ra's al Ghul and Shredder, it works
02:05almost too well.
02:07In fact, their rampage leads to them breaking into Arkham Asylum and slaughtering multiple
02:12security guards in the process.
02:24If that wasn't all, Ra's and Shredder also single out several inmates so they can later
02:29transform them into dangerous mutants.
02:31Simply put, this unholy union of bad guys leads to some scary results.
02:36They're not just breaking into prison to massacre the staff, they're also systematically planting
02:41a whole wave of mutant mayhem.
02:43Don't mess with Shredder and Ra's.
02:45I hate Gotham.
02:49Number 28.
02:50Jester's Last Joke.
02:52Justice League Crisis on Two Earths.
02:53The multiverse is wild.
02:55In the regular DC universe, the Joker is a villain.
02:58But on Earth 3, Joker is actually the Jester, a hero battling the crime syndicate, evil doppelgangers
03:04of the Justice League.
03:08The Quantum Trigger.
03:10Plus, he's teammates with a good version of Lex Luthor.
03:13Yeah, it's crazy.
03:15But just because Jester's a hero doesn't mean he escapes a brutal demise.
03:19It's time to get serious, Lex.
03:21No!
03:22We can make it together!
03:23We can do this!
03:25Get your shiny bald head out of here, it's hurting my eyes!
03:27While cornered by two members of the Syndicate, the Jester is brutally impelled by a sword
03:32made out of fire.
03:33Oof!
03:34That's hardcore!
03:35But in the Jester's final moments, he detonates a bomb that kills him and the two Syndicate
03:40members.
03:40We might not have seen much of this clown, but his heroic sacrifice and his dark death
03:45will always be remembered.
03:47I'm down to my last joke anyway.
03:51But this one will kill you.
03:53Number 27.
03:54Major Force Disintegrates.
03:56Superman slash Batman Public Enemies.
03:59Some of us still believe in putting our country first.
04:04Sorry, but I don't see any patriotism here.
04:07All I see is a psycho who's latched onto an excuse to kill people.
04:10And who's so stupid, he doesn't realize he's being used by Luthor.
04:18Operating on behalf of President Lex Luthor, Major Force and a crew of heroes are tasked
04:23with arresting Batman and Superman.
04:25Major Force isn't exactly a good guy though.
04:27To be honest, he's kind of messed up.
04:30He was the one who actually killed Matalo, an act which the world's finest were framed
04:35for.
04:35But eventually, Major Force gets what's coming to him when his teammate Power Girl damages
04:40his containment suit.
04:41The villain goes through extreme pain as the energy in him is close to leaking out and causing
04:47catastrophic damage.
04:48I can absorb it.
04:50Captain, I can't let you.
04:51I was watching and listening.
04:57Captain Adam is able to contain the radiation, but it injures him in the process and completely
05:02disintegrates Major Force.
05:03In the end, this major pain in the butt was melted away into nothing.
05:21Number 26, The Ripper's True Identity, Batman Gotham by Gaslight.
05:26In real life, Jack the Ripper was one of the most notorious serial killers of them all.
05:30And a figure shrouded in mystery.
05:32But in Gotham by Gaslight, he's something else.
05:35Sure, there's mystery here too as Batman tries to figure out who the Ripper is, but we actually
05:40discover his identity.
05:41This Ripper is far worse than the lunatic you're searching for.
05:45He's a skilled hunter, and he's just getting started.
05:49Shockingly, the Ripper is James Gordon.
05:51His time in the Civil War gave him PTSD, which led him on a bloodthirsty quest to clean the
05:56streets.
05:57But what does a light in the darkness do?
06:00It draws flies, vile, unclean, like you.
06:05Not only is it a departure from the original graphic novel, it's also a chilling change
06:10of how Gordon's usually portrayed.
06:12Typically, he's a good lawman and a warm fatherly figure.
06:15But here, he's a psychopath killing women and dealing out his own sick version of justice.
06:20Shall we begin?
06:22This may take quite some time.
06:26Number 25, Two-Face Becomes One Face?
06:30Batman Vs.
06:31Two-Face.
06:31Sure, the 60s version of Batman is far from a dark and grizzled crime fighter, but even
06:36Adam West's Batman has occasionally dealt with disturbing things.
06:40I detest cheap sentiment.
06:43Case in point, his interactions with Two-Face are surprisingly scary.
06:47During the final battle between them, Two-Face undergoes a bizarre and painful transformation
06:51as Harvey Dent's split mind crumbles apart.
07:04What makes it so chilling is that we actually see both sides of his face melt into one sickly
07:09green face.
07:10So, does this make him one face now?
07:13We're not exactly sure about the naming conventions, but what we are sure of is that Harvey's completely
07:18off the deep end now.
07:19Any shred of good in him is gone, and now only the bad parts are left.
07:24Curse you, Batman, for being right.
07:31No.
07:32Impossible.
07:33Number 24, Red Hood Spooks the Mob, Batman Under the Red Hood.
07:38Jason Todd might have died when he was Robin, but when he came back to life, he did it in
07:43a big way.
07:43His debut as Red Hood marked his new lease on life, and with his new sense of direction,
07:49he decided that the best way to fight crime was to control it.
07:52Listen to me, you drug peddling scumbags.
07:54I will be running the drug trade from now on.
07:57To make it extremely clear that he meant business, Jason gave the mob a bag containing the severed
08:02heads of multiple other crooks.
08:05Those are the heads of all your lieutenants.
08:07That took me two hours.
08:09You want to see what I can get done in a whole evening?
08:12The vicious act of violence clearly established that Red Hood was the top dog and that everyone
08:17else had to fall in line.
08:19While we didn't actually see the stomach-sickening carnage directly, considering how these criminals
08:23reacted, it's pretty clear that they got the message.
08:27No dealing to children, got it?
08:29If you do, you're dead.
08:32Number 23, Wonder Woman Murders Billy Batson, Justice League The Flashpoint Paradox.
08:37Diana Prince is a noble warrior, but in the Flashpoint timeline, she's a
08:41murderous villain who wants to destroy the Atlanteans and anyone else in her way.
08:46If you thought there was a limit to how far she'd go, think again.
08:50In Flashpoint Paradox, Wonder Woman takes down a superhero called Captain Thunder.
08:54Captain Thunder, I'm happy to see that a real man is here to watch the end of man's world!
09:00Thunder is actually the combined form of Billy Batson and the rest of his foster siblings.
09:05And once they are turned back into their normal forms, the problem starts.
09:09This form is not your own.
09:11How is the enchantment broken?
09:13With a word.
09:17Speak the word.
09:18Diana murders Billy in cold blood in front of his family.
09:22Despite having superpowers, Billy Batson was just a child.
09:25Diana's actions were so over the line, there's no way she could ever be redeemed.
09:30This version of Wonder Woman is simply despicable.
09:33Number 22, Dracula Burns, The Batman vs. Dracula.
09:36Sorry, Dracula might be the lord of the undead and the king of vampires or whatever, but he's no Batman.
09:43It's scarcely midnight, Batman.
09:46The sunrise will not help you this time.
09:49When the two finally clashed in this epic film, there were times when it seemed like Dracula was going to
09:55pick up the W.
09:56But since Dracula's technically undead, Batman was allowed to go all out and use some pretty lethal techniques.
10:01And unfortunately for Dracula, Batman's state-of-the-art solar energy machine made a world of difference.
10:08Rise and shine.
10:14Once it was activated, the machine was basically an artificial sun.
10:18It melted flesh right off the bone and burnt the vampire to a crisp.
10:22I'm the Batman.
10:24And you're dust.
10:26Then to top it all off, the last thing Dracula saw was Batman swooping down to punch his skull off.
10:34Aura farming for the win.
10:35Number 21, Entire Worlds Are Wiped Out, Justice League, Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3.
10:41As heartbreaking as it is, you can't have a multiverse-shattering event without some promise of the premise.
10:47With the Anti-Monitor's wave of terror spreading across the cosmos, the chaos was inevitably going to lead to casualties.
10:54I'm afraid the Anti-Monitor Armada has reached another of the isolated Earths.
10:58Earth 12.
10:59We see numerous worlds get killed off and it's pretty heartbreaking.
11:04A whole multiverse containing multiple realities and countless people are forever taken out of the equation.
11:09We don't necessarily see a lot of gruesome murders here, but we find entire existences decaying and that's incredibly depressing.
11:16Even the DCAU or potentially some multiversal variation of it was wiped out as well.
11:21I care, Joker.
11:24About Gotham.
11:25About justice.
11:27And if it has to end, at least I go out like this.
11:32Being Batman.
11:33You might not have a personal attachment to every Earth shown, but the fact that multiple worlds were fatally erased
11:40is a haunting realization.
11:4120.
11:43Citizens Seeing Everyone As Demons, Justice League Dark
11:45Help me!
11:46Someone help!
11:50Stay away!
11:52What are you doing?
11:53What would happen if demons suddenly invaded the world?
11:57This gnarly DC feature shows what that scenario might look like.
12:01Everyday normal citizens across the planet experience hallucinations that cause them to see all kinds of terrifying supernatural phenomena.
12:08Save me!
12:09Save me from them!
12:11From whom?
12:12Demons.
12:13They're everywhere!
12:14Don't you see them?
12:14As you could imagine, this leads to some horrifying moments.
12:18We see a woman cause all kinds of calamity with her car.
12:21A new mother throw a baby off a building and a father nearly destroy his family.
12:25It's a haunting series of events that highlights the danger that the Justice League is up against.
12:29And beyond that, it's also a look at the darkest atrocities that humanity is capable of committing to one another.
12:36No one's dying here tonight.
12:37It's not me you should be stopping!
12:40It's them!
12:41Look at them!
12:4219.
12:43How Jordan Shoots A Soldier
12:45Justice League The New Frontier
12:46War ruins lives, and it claims the lives of many even after the fighting has stopped.
12:51When Hal Jordan crash lands into enemy territory, he fights for his life against a young Korean soldier.
12:56The thing is, a ceasefire had been put in place, meaning the war should have been over.
13:03But this soldier didn't get the memo.
13:05Listen to me! War over!
13:08Back into a corner, Hal reluctantly kills him.
13:11The blood spattering on Hal's face as he solemnly says that the war is over is a grisly sight that's
13:17simply hard to forget.
13:18While New Frontier is a movie largely about the importance of hope, it isn't afraid to show us many bleak
13:24situations.
13:25And this is no different.
13:26It's over. War over.
13:3118. Flash's Abrupt Death
13:33Injustice
13:34Flash, we're searching for Lois Lane in Metropolis. Superman is in the air. I need you to search everything underground.
13:41While investigating a hideout that belongs to the Joker, the Flash is caught off guard when he's infected by the
13:46Scarecrow's fear gas.
13:47The toxin distracts him long enough for one of Joker's sharp contraptions to slice him apart.
13:51We don't see the grisly moment of impact, but viewers can be trusted to fill in the blanks of what
13:56happened.
13:57Okay, honestly, this is obviously a grim murder, but it's also a really stupid one, too.
14:02You're telling us that the Flash could get taken out this easily?
14:09The disrespect for this speedster is almost as dark as the death itself.
14:13Let's just hope Joker doesn't have any more of these death traps laying around.
14:18Oh, who are we kidding? He totally does.
14:20Number 17. Jessica Cruz's Trauma
14:22Justice League vs. The Fatal Five
14:24A camping trip for Jessica Cruz and her friends turns grisly when they stumble upon the sight of a murderer
14:29actively trying to bury a body.
14:31To make matters worse, once they're caught, the villain kills Jessica's friends to cover his tracks.
14:36The flashback is a chilling moment where everything that could go wrong pretty much does.
14:41While Jessica escapes this harrowing experience, it clearly rattles her.
14:44It's a fight just to get out of my apartment.
14:48I keep telling you, this is all one big mistake. This thing probably won't even work for me.
14:56In fact, her trauma is a defining aspect of her character that's highlighted in a way that sets her apart
15:01from other Green Lanterns.
15:06Her biggest battles aren't fighting Parallax or the Manhunters. They're trying to get out of bed and leave the apartment.
15:13So much for the legendary Jessica Cruz.
15:16Number 16. Reverse Flash is finally killed. Suicide Squad, hell to pay.
15:20We were pretty sure that a bullet right to the head from Flashpoint Batman would be enough to kill Eobard
15:25Thawne, but we were wrong.
15:27I drew the Speed Force into me with every ounce of willpower I had left.
15:31This psychotic speedster is actually still alive through some special Speed Force shenanigans, but time is still running out.
15:38Save me the trouble. Maybe I'll just wound you too.
15:43I promise you, Deadshot, I'm good for one last hit of speed.
15:47While he tries getting a magic get out of hell free card, he's thrown off course by the Suicide Squad.
15:52Go ahead. Make my afterlife.
15:56And when Bronze Tiger slices Thawne's fingers off, it allows Deadshot to shower him in a barrage of bullets.
16:03Losing body parts and getting gunned down within a mere matter of seconds can definitely be jarring.
16:07Though Reverse Flash has bounced back from death before, it doesn't seem like the DCAMU version is coming back from
16:14this.
16:14Number 15. Killing Joker, Injustice.
16:16The Clown Prince of Crime had a thing or two coming his way when he manipulated Superman into thinking his
16:21pregnant wife Lois Lane was doomsday.
16:23Because of this hallucination, it caused Superman to kill her.
16:27It's not real.
16:35That's pretty dark on its own.
16:37But the man of Steel flying back to Earth to send an arm straight through the Joker's chest is arguably
16:41darker.
16:42Oh no!
16:43This time, the joke's on you and the world will burn.
17:00Though this was an alternate Earth version of Superman, seeing him act so violently was distressing.
17:06Knowing that he would then descend into supervillainy because of this makes everything even sadder.
17:11Whenever the man of tomorrow crosses the line, you know that things have reached the point of no return.
17:16This moment is a warning to never piss Superman off.
17:25Number 14. Owlman's Fate, Justice League, Crisis on Two Earths.
17:29You were talking about killing everyone who ever lived.
17:32Hoping to wipe out the entire multiverse, Owlman had some trouble with his plans in the form of Batman.
17:38It doesn't really matter. Nothing matters.
17:42Though Owlman mostly dominated the fight, some quick maneuvering by the Caped Crusader caused his wicked counterpart to get sent
17:48to a desolate Earth.
17:49If you thought being banished to a cold world was dark, just wait, because that's not all.
17:54With his quantum eigenstate device close to detonation, Owlman spends his last seconds alive simply not caring about what'll happen
18:01next.
18:02We know he's a nihilist and all, but still, this is some incredibly depressing stuff to watch unfold.
18:07He obviously didn't care about the lives of others, but to know that he didn't even care about his own
18:12is a real double whammy.
18:14It doesn't matter.
18:19Number 13. Beheading Mera, Justice League, The Flashpoint Paradox.
18:23Barry Allen's massive decision to alter reality didn't just reshape the universe.
18:28It also reshaped many relationships of its characters.
18:31After Wonder Woman had an affair with Aquaman, Queen Mera decided to take drastic measures to rectify this issue.
18:50Instead of trying couples counseling or just getting a divorce, she opted to try and kill Wonder Woman.
18:56Yet you wear her helmet like a trophy.
18:59No, a warning.
19:00Let's just say that didn't go so well.
19:02Diana decapitates her, and Aquaman didn't take the news so well.
19:07Needless to say, beheadings are pretty gruesome, but what makes this even more intense is that the fallout from this
19:13led to an all-out war that essentially doomed the world.
19:16There will be no glorious victor, Diana. No prize.
19:22What I do now, I do for the good of all.
19:26As do I.
19:28Yikes!
19:29Number 12. Superman's Clone Kills Toy Man, Superman Doomsday.
19:33You have to be pretty bold to be a Superman villain.
19:36Well, bold or stupid, Toy Man is probably the latter.
19:39After he endangered innocent kids, this Superman clone decides to cross a line of his own.
19:44Pardon me, officers. I need a moment with your prisoner.
19:47Flying Toy Man up into the air, he then dropped him to his death.
19:51He had a nasty landing, to put it lightly.
19:54I have nothing to say to you.
19:58How about goodbye?
20:01This was a jarring moment that showed that this new and improved Superman was not messing around.
20:07You know, for a Superman movie, this was actually pretty violent all around.
20:11Remember that scene where Doomsday slaughters a ton of Lex Luthor's employees?
20:15Yeah, nothing but pure nightmare fuel.
20:17You might want to keep the nightlight on after watching this film.
20:21Toy Man would have killed again. An example needed to be set.
20:24Number 11. The Death of Jason Todd, Batman Under the Red Hood.
20:28Now, hang on. That looked like it hurt a lot more.
20:32So, let's try and clear this up, okay, pumpkin?
20:36Batman's second Robin really got the short end of the stick.
20:39Sure, being a sidekick sounds like fun, right until you get attacked by the Joker.
20:44Jason Todd was beaten half to death with a crowbar and then trapped inside of a warehouse that then exploded.
20:49It's something that fundamentally shook Batman to his core.
20:52In fact, Jason Todd's death is arguably one of the most famous deaths in all of superhero media.
20:57No.
21:07Jason.
21:08Which also means it's undeniably one of the bleakest.
21:11Jason eventually came back as the Red Hood, but he was never the same.
21:15His death was a bone-chilling scene that remains Batman's greatest failure.
21:19Suddenly, being a superhero doesn't look all that glamorous.
21:22Anyway, be a good boy, finish your homework, and be in bed by nine.
21:28And hey, please tell the big man I said, hello.
21:35Number 10. Robin Kills Psychotech.
21:37Teen Titans Trouble in Tokyo.
21:49When a lead on the elusive villain Brush Ogun takes the Teen Titans to Tokyo,
21:53Robin ends up in deeper trouble than expected following an attack by Psychotech,
21:57one of Brush Ogun's minions.
21:59I want answers, real ones.
22:05While their fight starts out just like every other classic hero versus villain encounter,
22:10things take a dark turn when it ends with Robin brutally beating Psychotech in front of a crowd of people.
22:25The scene of Robin standing over Psychotech's beaten and unmoving body,
22:29covered in what looks like pinkish blood,
22:31leads everyone to believe that the Boy Wonder killed him.
22:34I am sorry, my young friend, but you leave me no choice.
22:39I must place you under arrest.
22:42While it's later revealed that this fight was staged as part of a conspiracy to frame Robin,
22:46the impact of the moment feels all too real.
22:49Number 9. A grim Justice League montage. Justice League Doom.
22:53The heroes of the Justice League may be powerful, but unlike Vando Savage, they are far from immortal.
22:58When we fought before, I broke the bat. Today, I break the man.
23:07After orchestrating the theft of Batman's secret contingency plans to incapacitate members of the League,
23:13Savage modifies them into being lethal and unleashes his Legion of Doom.
23:17The plans are horribly effective.
23:18Every leaguer is pushed to the brink of defeat, both physically and mentally.
23:30Its members are shot, burned, and buried alive and pushed to their physical and emotional limits.
23:36Their trials make up a hope-crushing series of moments that shows that even the strongest heroes are not invincible.
23:42I don't deserve this.
23:45Then I hope you have the decency to do what's right and suffer for your many sins.
23:51Number 8. Joker Tortures Robin. Batman Beyond Return of the Joker.
23:55No matter what universe he's in, there's no line the Joker won't cross.
24:00In Batman Beyond Return of the Joker, we see just how evil and twisted he can be.
24:04Say hello, JJ.
24:10After kidnapping Tim Drake and torturing him for weeks, Joker brainwashes him into becoming his son.
24:16When Batman finds out what happened, he viciously lashes out at the Joker.
24:19If you don't like the movie, I've got slides.
24:27Joker's fate eventually comes to a violent end when Tim breaks free of his control and kills him, causing him
24:33to have an emotional breakdown.
24:43Unfortunately, Tim's nightmare is far from over as the Joker returns from the grave decades later.
24:49Thanks to technology he implanted in Tim's body, Joker is able to possess him like a demon straight out of
24:54hell.
24:54My God.
25:01Oh, I never get tired of that.
25:04Number 7. Superman Kills the Elite. Superman vs. the Elite.
25:08If Superman's fight with the Elite has taught us anything, it's that there's nothing more terrifying than a Superman who's
25:14willing to kill.
25:14I understand now what the world wants. What it needs.
25:20Ow! Something bit me.
25:23Bit you?
25:24No!
25:26After being overwhelmed by the lethal anti-hero team, Superman gets his second win and shows them exactly what he's
25:34capable of when he abandons his moral compass.
25:36The world needs people in charge who are willing to put the animals down.
25:43One by one, he picks off each of the Elite, seemingly killing them in various ways.
25:48Superman even lobotomizes their leader, Manchester Black, robbing him of his powers and rendering him helpless.
25:53This isn't you! You don't do this!
25:57I do now.
25:59Even though Superman reveals that his rampage was all an act to prove that violence is not the solution, seeing
26:05him adopt such a dangerous mindset is enough to scare the evil right out of you.
26:10It's so easy. Anger. Vengeance.
26:21Luckily, I'm not you. And I never will be.
26:24Number six, the death of Johnny Quick. Justice League, Crisis on Two Earths.
26:28When Batman's evil counterpart Owlman steals a bomb with the intent of destroying Earth Prime along with the multiverse, all
26:34hope lies on the shoulder of crime syndicate member Johnny Quick.
26:38I'm your man.
26:39No, you're not. You're too slow.
26:41What?
26:41I know your limitations. You can't possibly reach the speed necessary to pull this off.
26:46I can.
26:47Listen.
26:48No, you listen. He's talking about blowing up my world too, and I'm not letting that happen.
26:52With his super speed, Johnny opens a portal for Batman to follow and stop Owlman.
26:57While heroic, Johnny's actions come at a great cost as maintaining the portal causes him to rapidly age.
27:03Did we save the world then?
27:06We did.
27:07In his final moments, Johnny deduces that Batman tricked him into creating the portal to prevent his fate from happening
27:13to Flash.
27:13And all that rubbish about me being faster than Flash. You knew this was gonna happen. Good one, mate.
27:27It's disturbing to know that Batman willingly sacrificed someone, even if it was to protect a friend.
27:32If there's any solace to this dark moment, it's that rather than die angry, Johnny compliments Batman for his deception.
27:38Number five. The origin of Flashpoint Batman. Justice League The Flashpoint Paradox.
27:43Among the many dark changes caused by the Flash during Flashpoint, one of the most tragic is the origin of
27:49Flashpoint Batman.
27:50My god. He's the one who died that night in the alley. Bruce died and you lived. You're his father.
28:00You're Thomas Wayne.
28:02Every Batman fan knows the story of how Bruce's parents were killed in Crime Alley.
28:07But in Flashpoint, Bruce is the one who ends up getting killed.
28:10In his rage, Thomas Wayne beats his son's killer to a bloody poke, while his wife Martha is sadly driven
28:16insane by Bruce's demise, resulting in her becoming Flashpoint's version of Joker.
28:34From that moment on, Thomas became his timeline's Batman. However, Thomas doesn't share his son's moral code and thus became
28:41a more lethal version of Batman who's willing to kill.
28:44I used to be a doctor. Mention my dead son again and I will break out my surgical instruments.
28:52Number four. Svetlana's Death. Superman Red Sun.
28:55Such incredible powers, sonishka. You have to give them to the state. The people need you.
29:04He may be a soldier of the USSR, but Soviet Superman still cares about protecting innocent people just as much
29:11as his traditional counterpart.
29:12When he discovers the existence of a secret gulag where Stalin imprisons people he considers a threat, Superman learns that
29:18his childhood friend Svetlana was also imprisoned.
29:21The reason? Simply because she knew his true identity.
29:24But what did you do to deserve such a punishment?
29:29I knew you before.
29:33Although Superman liberates her and many other prisoners, she dies in his arms moments after being freed.
29:40Her death leads Superman down a twisted path where he murders Stalin, takes his ideas to extreme lengths,
29:45and even clashes with a more lethal version of Batman, who ends up blowing himself up rather than be turned
29:50into one of Superman's mindless puppets.
29:52Don't worry. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm going to help you. Just a few hours of brain surgery,
30:00and then a nice job in a Moscow laundry for you.
30:06Number three. The Newcastle tragedy. Constantine's City of Demon.
30:10The arrogance of youth can lead to many tragedies, especially for someone like John Constantine.
30:15They spent years performing shitholes for a percentage of the door, but they always thought they were a day away
30:22from fame and fortune.
30:24Maybe it would have worked out if they hadn't ended up in Newcastle.
30:28As a young practitioner of the mystic arts, John attempted to save a young girl named Astra from being tortured
30:34by her occultist father, Alex Logue, by summoning the demon Nurgal.
30:38However, John quickly loses control of Nurgal, who not only kills Logue and his followers, but also slaughters a ton
30:45of innocent people as well.
30:46He couldn't control it. He couldn't stop Nurgal.
31:01Along with the resulting bloodbath, Nurgal drives the knife even deeper into John by abducting Astra and throwing her into
31:08hell.
31:08Even though Constantine experienced and survived some of the scariest and most disturbing events in the supernatural world, the events
31:14at Newcastle continue to haunt him.
31:17And that's how John ended up in Ravenscar.
31:20Number two. Joker's Final Killing Spree. Batman The Dark Knight Returns Part Two.
31:25If there was ever a good thing about Batman going into retirement is that it also meant the end of
31:30the Joker.
31:31When Batman puts his cow back on, this causes a catatonic Joker to resurface once again.
31:36Gotham City belongs to the Batman.
31:42Batman, darling.
31:45To celebrate his big comeback, Joker decides to go on live television where he murders an entire audience.
31:51And that's only the start.
31:52Breathe, David. Breathe.
31:55From there, Joker goes on a mass killing spree at a carnival and claims even more lives.
32:01Batman is able to stop him, but not before giving Joker what he's always wanted, making him lose control.
32:08In the end, Joker gives his twisted goodbye to Batman before claiming the life of his final victim, himself.
32:14I made you lose control.
32:20And they'll kill you for it.
32:27See you in hell.

32:46Number one, Darkseid defeats the Justice League.
32:49Justice League Dark, Apocalypse War.
32:52The Justice League have spent years protecting Earth from Darkseid.
32:55But all it takes is one error in judgment to render their efforts meaningless.
32:59Darkseid knew every part of our plan.
33:03Those things that attacked us were half parademon, half doomsday.
33:07After an attempt to ambush Darkseid fells, the League is overwhelmed by his legion of paradooms,
33:13who savagely murder most of them, kill nearly all the Titans, and allow Darkseid to finally conquer Earth.
33:19Darkseid didn't kill everyone.
33:21Some he had plans for.
33:28As for the surviving leaguers, Darkseid punishes them with fates far worse than death.
33:34He robs Superman of his powers, turns Flash into a living battery, brainwashes Batman into becoming his general,
33:40and transforms Wonder Woman and several other heroes into his cyborg slaves.
33:44Watching so many great heroes suffer such horrific fates is a nightmarish sight that many loyal fans won't soon forget.
33:51I won't stand for further delays. After all, a conqueror must conquer.
